    Another great tour of a stunning yacht. What I really like about Aquaholic, is that Nick has exactly the right level of enthusiasm. Any more, he'd be a salesman. Any less, it would be dull. Keep 'em coming please, I need to decide what to spend my fictional lottery winnings on :)

      I try to imagine a family with two - four kids spending time.
      The above person is correct. Not a lot of empty storage on the main level...think books, games, toys etc.
      Also space for actual food storage ...a week or two always seems sparce.
      They definitely seem designed for temporary adult fun as opposed to family use.

    Always look forward to your tours, everyday I look on youtube hoping there is another video from you. You are the absolute best when it comes to yacht tours. The continuous video gives the viewer the appreciation for the true size of the yachts as you cannot gauge it with cut videos. What further sets your videos apart is your top notch knowledge and perspective plus your pacing keeps the viewer interested. So many others pause and give irrelevant info/useless personal details or show why they are not making a living as comedians.

    The best thing about owning a yacht is breakfast. I have them poach my eggs down in the galley, and sent up via the dumb waiter with an ironed FT and a large pot of Javan joe.
    A special moment during which the crew knows they need to keep quiet or I'll fly into a wild rage and fire the lot of them on the spot. Then I have to spend the rest of the day tracking the poor loves down to whatever bar they've holed up in, to issue grovelling apologies and promises that I'll never do it again.
    Life can be very tough for yacht owners. Think hard before buying one for yourself; Can I handle it?

    1:00 I'd like yachts having a fully enclosed rear with sliding glass windows. Pros being you don't get exhaust fumes in the aft under way but mostly having your dinner conversations more private, but also since the Baltic seas weather means you most of the times rely on that ugly plastic canopy for some warmth during 14-17degree evenings and archipelago docks often have quite a busy boardwalk that feels like you got people and bystanders staring at you. It's mostly in the meds where the docks or piers are mostly private or adjacent boats..

    One thing that bothers me about these marina queens is the large walls of glass. these don't appear to be very sea worthy although maybe some sort of magic materials have made them sea proof. it would be interesting to see how this vessel would take a boarding sea, a nice thick freakish wedge of green water in the channel would do. i'm not really a fan of risking my family to a duel between modern yacht designers and The Sea God Neptune or paying a one way visit to Davy Jones's locker. the 69 Feadship or the benetti 33 might be a better choice. in my humble opinion of course.

      Luck and limited use in the best conditions and areas? It's a product sold to people like a rolls royce with more money than understanding of seamanship. fastnet 79 comes to mind, although a race many "new" technologies were used to poor result. I wonder how well the princess Y80 does in high sea and beam wind conditions? how well would she heave-to? tow a warp? lay to a sea anchor? where i live now, the pacific coast of washington state inlets, bars, and currants may look calm but in an instant they can turn as malevolent as an angry God mocked and forgotten, hungry for sacrifice. 😉 @@AQUAHOLIC

    Great tour Nick, and a very lovely boat, definitely worth a charter ( or 2). Really like the outside space, seems to have plenty of room for a big crowd, and the inside living space is really well planned out. If you can Nick, could you explain a couple of things for me please,
    1, how does the Autopilot work, is it the same way as a plane? So could I plot a course from Poole-Monaco, and will the boat literally take me there?
    2, and what exactly is ‘displacement speed, how does it affect the boats range’?
    Great video as always, many thanks😁👍🏻

    • @AQUAHOLIC
      @AQUAHOLIC  Год назад +2

      Autopilot can either hold a heading or a course (so if tide is running it will compensate). Displacement speed is worth looking up, but basically there is a maximum speed that a boat will travel through the water fully immersed that is based on its waterline length (there are calculators for this online). To get above that speed you have to start powering the boat up out of the water so that at high speed, it's lifted up and skimming (planing). It takes a huge amount of extra power to do this, which is why remaining at or below displacement speed is far more fuel efficient.

    I love your non edit edits Nick. Makes one wonder just how much you do edit it out 😊. Princess as always nicely built with quality customer options. At 80 ft it makes me think an experienced couple could handle this beauty or just one crew member to help clean off the salt spray, docking, & general help on-board. Nice tour Nick. Thanks 🙏🇨🇦👍

    Great tour as always Nick 👍 I personally think that Princess is overrated and overpriced. You dont see much innovation and the interiors are always boring. At this price point Italians are offering a lot more . The Pearl 95 can be bought for less money then this Y80 ..They need to up their game if they want to compete with the competition ..

    Great tour as always, and nice boat, but what is new in this boat really? There doesn't seem to be anything that sets it apart? Love how Pearl, Marex and such always offer some innovation. Maybe I have watched so many boat vids, I am tuning out?

    You stated lots of open plan layout , if you enclosed the galley & helm the boat would i believe become very cramped, cant see many going out " enclosed "

    Non-boater here so apologies for my naivety.
    A boat of this size and complexity- would the owner typically have a crew to pilot, mechanic and perhaps a chef on board? Or would they do it all themselves along with their guests?
    Thanks for answering and cheers from Boston ☘️

    • @AQUAHOLIC
      @AQUAHOLIC  Год назад +2

      Hey Boston! At this size it could go either way. Completely owner operated (if fairly experienced), owner operated but perhaps with a steward/stewardess to cook, clean, handle ropes etc (the less fun bits of boat operation), or full crew which is likely to be a captain to look after and pilot the boat plus maybe two more, one stew plus one deckhand who would look after the inside and outside respectively. Wouldn't have a mechanic as shouldn't be much engineering needed beyond regular servicing and maintenance.

      @@AQUAHOLIC Thanks for the prompt response! Wish I could say I was a potential customer for such a beautiful craft but I’m not. Still, my mom dad and sis spent many summers on our 27foot sloop and that alone took some technical skill and a lot of patience :-) I’ve always wondered about the larger cruisers and what a minimum crew roster would be.
      Thanks again my friend for your insight.
