Damn that loss against KC hurt... the Raiders were 8-1 (later on in the season) and then Dallas came to town and could not win any more games to make the playoffs in the 1st season back in Oakland.
Anthony Parker of the Rams here, I remember when he played for the NY/NJ Knights of the World League of American Football in spring 1991 (or as Chris Berman called that league then, "The Waffle". WLAF, he he). He was good in that league, and I'm glad he made it back and had some success in the NFL. The 1995 Rams did start out promising, but they later had trouble with offensive turnovers and couldn't run the ball very well; also, once the defensive takeaways evened out, their defense was exposed. But heck, 7-9 is still better than 3-13 or 4-12.
@@PissedUAWElectrician Cool, I had it as well (Stan Gelbaugh, Anthony Parker's QB teammate Jeff Graham, Gelbaugh's London teammate, NT Roy Hart; those are the ones I remember). I think I had those cards in a small wooden box that I left in a different state, and not with the cards I had in the folders with the protective plastic sleeves. I thought it was pretty neat that the WLAF players were included in trading cards. I don't know, I really liked the first two years of the WLAF (David Archer really lit it up playing for the Sacramento Surge that second season, his team beating Scott Mitchell's Orlando Thunder for the 1992 WLAF title), but once the league was put on ice for a couple of seasons, I never got that interested again, catching a game or two from time to time (I recall the deeply troubled Lawrence Philips doing well in the league).
They won their opener 17-14 against the Packers in Lambeau. I knew it was an upset, but I didn’t realize how big of an upset it was when their next home loss wasn’t until October 1998 (after playing in back to back Super Bowls with Brett Favre in his prime)!
@@justice4all371 Yeah, the 1995 Packers played unevenly through the first half of the season, but really got on a roll in November and I feel they didn't really look back (becoming the class of the NFC, and in 1996 definitely the entire league) until the Vikings MNF game in 1998 that you mentioned.
In case anyone is wondering, the 1995 St. Louis Rams started 4-0 and finished 7-9, missing the playoffs, including two losses to the 49ers, 44-10 and 41-13. Another embarrassment was a 31-6 loss to the 9-7 Falcons.
That loss was before my time as a chief fan but I got a taste of how unlucky kc is in the playoffs and how much I hate the Colts from the no punt game and lucks comeback. Hate Indy as much as Denver and Oakland haha
Today is the *24* year anniversary of when this episode of NFL Primetime aired on TV. 🤓 EDIT- 4:50 P.M.: *finishes video 55 minutes later* I noticed that there were more highlights than discussions.
The next time the Browns and Oilers met in week 10, both cities and franchises would be changed forever. Remember a lot of people had the Browns in the Super Bowl that year.
RogueGust It was such a dark year for the Browns Very sad......You fire Bill Bellicheck and move the team to Baltimore to become the Ravens. You pay a free agent who busted more than popcorn Andre Rison.....😑😑.
Jason WAlker The Owner of The Oilers pretty much said at the beginning of that season if that team didn’t get it done that season the team would be broken up. They made no plans for the cap and broke up a talented team.
Christian Boddie And got rid of the shining star Warren Moon and that was the beginning of the end of the Oilers. It's a shame I still have an Oilers jersey that of Eddie George of Tennessee oilers 1998. Oilers forever 😊😊.
RogueGust That why he got fired after the 49ers game in the 1996 season...Bruce Coslet came coach into 97.....and Boomer Esiason returned to the Queen City.
Mitchell insulted Fontes by impersonating him at a Halloween party. That was just part of a disastrous 1996. Fontes did great in 91 and they would be in the Super Bowl if not for a great Washington team. I could forgive a bad 1992 but not 96. He had to produce in the playoffs and didn’t. The rest is history. I can only wonder what he thought about that 0-16 team in 2008.
I was at The Lions vs Cardinals game at the the Silverdome. I am a lifetime Cards fan. I was wearing my Garrison Hearst jersey. This toothless Lions fan was screaming at me the whole game Hearst sucks. Garrison got a big run and I turned and got in his face. Barry fumbled I went nuts lol go Cards go Lions 0 and 16
Jeff Blake was a huge free agent signing for the Saints before the 2000 season. He was awesome and leading them to the playoffs until he broke his ankle against the Raiders in the dome. The Aaron Brooks era began and Blake never played for the Saints again.
Looking back, I guess we can see now that the 1995 Browns were in trouble; 4 interceptions, yet they only win the game against the Oilers 14-7. Sure, they did better the next week vs. the chiefs, but it was all downhell from there.
I was a diehard Redskins fan since my childhood in the 80s and 90s. That Hail Mary loss to Denver on the last play of the game is the most heart-broken I've ever been for a Redskins game. Now we're just heartbroken in general since Dan Snyder has figuratively murdered the franchise (the most valuable in the world when he bought it in 1999); literal murder of the identity, tradition, and logo aside.
James Gurksnis and he got fired after 1996. Him and Scott Mitchell relationship fell apart when he got benched in the Giants game and put in Don Majkowski in the 20-7. Then came in Bobby Ross in 97.
Justin Maybach It was such a dark year for the Patriots also they had Rookie Curtis Martin Drew Bledsoe Ben Coates and one of greatest CB's Ty law and Bill Parcelles. Head shaking season😑.
I love the old NFL Primetime videos..please keep them coming if you can..best postgame highlight show ever

HB Natron Means Lol I totally forgot about him

Jeff George played through 2 concussions in 1 game😂 12:27 man the good ole days
The Colts really need to bring back those blue pants that was a sharp look they only used a few times.
It's 2022 now and nothing has never really changed for the better for the Detroit Lions
Damn that loss against KC hurt... the Raiders were 8-1 (later on in the season) and then Dallas came to town and could not win any more games to make the playoffs in the 1st season back in Oakland.
Shawn Thomas, Sr. Yea the Cowboys put the Raiders in their place
Furrer doing his best Nathan Peterman impression.
31:59 Young threw a fastball⭐️
Boomer would have been canned for that Will "Fuhrer" Furrer bit today.
Lol not a chance
the description says Barry Sanders running all over the Cardinals...don't forget he had 2 fumbles & they basically lost because of him at the end
Thanks Tom
Willie Kearney "JUST MISS BABY" RIP Al Davis .😁
First ever home game for Carolina, I was at that game

I had Parker's NFL Pro Set WLAF card. Loved getting those inserts back in the day.

This Lions fan can't even escape the hell of his favorite team with a freakin 25 year old video as Barry fumbles TWICE?!?!? C'monnnnn
“As all of us have said from before the season started, it is apparent that the St. Louis Rams are on their way to the Super Bowl.” 🤣
Chris Kreager Yeah right, with who lol

They were only 4 years off lol
Yeah, they were going to win the Super Bowl... in 4 years. But not with that QB and coach. 1995 Rams wouldn't even finish with a winning record.
Still remember that Cardinals vs. Lions game.
Dave Krieg got his revenge.
James Michael He got it on the team he took to the playoffs the year before on Detroit.
You can't explain the disappointment felt when Bill Pidto did your teams highlights that week instead of Boomer.
The Jusge
😭
Chiefs used up all their miracles in the regular season. Lin Elliott, it was a preview
Christian Boddie And the playoffs was a nightmare for the chiefs missed 3 field goals.....
The curse of Marty Ball lol
That loss was before my time as a chief fan but I got a taste of how unlucky kc is in the playoffs and how much I hate the Colts from the no punt game and lucks comeback. Hate Indy as much as Denver and Oakland haha
LEXEXPRESS 4EVER After the Raiders and Chiefs game......Al Davis is thinking this " God I hate him cause he always beats me in LA or Oakland 😂 lol
The lucky Colts seemingly used up all their miracles in the regular season.
Chris Calloway had one of the greatest one handed catches ever in the Giants-Packers game and they didnt even show it.
I miss this show.

Jeff Blake was so underrated as a Bengals QB. 1995 1996 was his best years especially with Carl Pickens "Slim" and Darnay Scott.
Pickens was so overlooked and underrated. Problem is the rest of those teams were so bad and Dave Shula was just an inept coach.
RogueGust That why he got fired after the 49ers game in the 1996 season...Bruce Coslet came coach into 97.....and Boomer Esiason returned to the Queen City.
I agree. Jeff Blake was very underrated.
Pickens was a fly route wonder, but that was about it. The Titans found that out the hard way.

TWO Barry Sanders fumbles?!
Chris Kreager That was an embarrassing game I remember watching it back and forth on NFL Sunday Ticket in 95.
Dude it was three seasons ago at the time since he fumbled c’mon now!
Chris Berman > First take & undisputed.
Kelly Ocean Of course 😊. NFL Primetime undisputed . No other NFL show can bring exciting and fun on Sundays than Chris & T.J
Any fucking day of the week!!!

The Browns went downhill after Modell announced the move to Baltimore.
@27:28 did Darnay Scott throw up the piece sign on his way to the endzone?
Think he pointed at the defender? Or said deuces?😂😂

Whatever became of Wayne Fontes? Still the best man to coach the Lions.
James Gurksnis 1996 was dark for Fontes
Used up his nine lives in 95. They fell apart the next year. Never recovered from that Wild Card loss to Philly.
James Gurksnis and he got fired after 1996. Him and Scott Mitchell relationship fell apart when he got benched in the Giants game and put in Don Majkowski in the 20-7. Then came in Bobby Ross in 97.
Jim Caldwell got a raw deal too. He had a winning record and was fired anyway. Only the Lions.
Love me some Carolina Panthers
What the hell was that buccaneers
Not that anyone will care, but since this video cut out the Browns vs Oilers highlights, the Browns won the game 14-7.

It's called Out Front. It is my favorite Primetime song of all of them.
Out Front by Rick Baker
