Having the same issue. Tore it down and that gear is the culprit. Thanks for the video.

Glad I could help. I figured I wasn’t the only one with this issue and there was no information out there about it

Great video. Question for you. Friend towed his Polaris Ranger 570in neutral about a mile and a half. He heard a bad noise. Now it doesn't go into any gear. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Good job on the video dude! I think I will take my 2005 500 apart and build the cogs up with a welder.

Could this happen in High gear as well? My shifter flooded for Ida and now the shifter is real stiff and High gear grinds now.

I would take the cap off where the shifter goes into the transmission and make sure nothing is rusted and frozen in there. Also flush the transmission a couple times with new fluid. The other thing it could be is that cable got water in it and the inside of the cable is rusted and will not let you fully engage high. I would take the shift cable off of the transmission and manually shift that lever into high and see if it works. If so, then you know the problem is not in the transmission

If I knew how popular the video would be I would have spent more time on it but I was in a rush at the time to get the transmission back together

Thanks . It has been an issue and Polaris does not cover it on Warranty. Just have to use it in forward until I get the time to fix it. What would you estimate the cost to fix it at a garage. How many hours. Thanks.

I’m not sure on the price, but I had imagined probably be somewhere between five and ten hours of work

Yes - ours does the exact same thing - it grinds sometimes - and sometimes it works! These ATVs are far from tough - right?

At times trying to find "Reverse" perfect on my Polaris Rzr, I have to first put it in park then slide into reverse, or sometimes it doesn't quite engage...must need adjusting in the shift cable or something.

2007 Polaris rzr 800 grind when going into gear?

Haven’t had to open up a 800 transmission yet. Probably a shift fork issue but maybe try and and adjust the linkage

Thanks for the detailed video. By chance was this machine flashing the "R" while it was trying to engage reverse? I have a 2016 RZR XP 4 1000 that is a bit noisy going into reverse and flashes the "R" gear indicator the entire time I use reverse. My brother has the same machine but a 2014 and his gear indicator is solid all the time. Thanks for any info.

I can’t remember if it flashed or not. I feel like it didn’t. If I still had it I’d look for you but I don’t unfortunately. They might have made it flash in reverse as a safety feature so you can tell it’s not in forward but I’m not sure. If you are in a Facebook group someone there might be able to tell you. I haven’t had any new rzr so not sure if it’s normal.

I’m dealing with the same issue on my ‘13 ranger crew 500. I’m not a mechanic by no means, but I’m going to give it a shot. I’m in the process of removing the transmission. How difficult wouod you think this rebuild would be to a intermediate person like myself. I’m wondering if my transmission is the same as your 570. It looks identical.

It is not really difficult just really time consuming. I would watch some videos first and see how you feel after watching the.

  • @daltondean562

Your shift cable could have been out of adjustment resulting in it not going fully into reverse, eventually wearing the lobes.

    • @atvrepairsandmore2482
      @atvrepairsandmore2482  2 года назад +1

Possibly. I bought it from the original owner and it was broken when I bought it. He said it’s done it since the day he got it and got worse over time and the dealer could never fix it.
