Thanks for a proper review. I was looking for such a review, someone who actually tested the watch outside. Not just unpacking. That's to know if it's worth switching from T-Rex to T-Rex Pro. And the answer is yes!
I've had a few amazfit watches, including this one, I've noticed they all have the same heart rate sensing issue. Sometimes I'll measure it manually, knowing that I'm at an elevated rate, and the watch won't even be close, but then other times it'll be almost completely accurate. Very strange and hopeful that maybe they can push out some sort of firmware update to fix that issue. Other than that, I love this watch. #1 reason to buy any of the amazfit devices is because of the battery life. It's not uncommon for me to get a week out of a charge. I stopped wearing a galaxy active because of the annoyance of needing to charge it basically every night, which then makes the sleep tracking useless. Great video!
Nicely done...as a previous owner of an Amazfit Stratos, the only problem I ever had with it was the heart rate and firmware updates. The updates always "broke" some feature of the watch and I always had to reset it to make it function again..

It would surprise me if Garmin put an AMOLED in the fenix simply from a battery life stand point. The Fenix line has always been function over form. However, it would be cool if they had a seperate model with OLED as an option. We shall see! Thanks for watching.

My first watch was an Amazfit Verge and it was absolutely impossible to charge it after a 3 months (the charger would just not attach to the metallic pins in the watch). It did seem like this was a problem with the design. Also, impossible to connect to the computer after 2 or 3 weeks and the GPS was awful. Indeed the screen was good. Support gave no answer whatsoever. It was really really bad. Maybe this is a better watch (the charger is different), but I won't buy anything from this company again.

Would you recommend this, and it's ecosystem, over the Forerunner 245 and the Coros Pace 2? Someone asked me last week for a recommendation (moving up from a fitbit) and the 245 and Pace 2 were my current recommendations.
They're all good in different departments. The T-Rex makes a nice "daily driver" because of the beautiful display and widget selection. The Coros Pace 2 is probably the better multi sport tracking watch of the bunch because it provides running power from the wrist and can pair with power sensors for cycling along with superior battery life. The Forerunner 245 is probably the best dedicated running watch of the bunch with Garmin's Training Tools and more advanced navigation than the other two with Breadcrumb mapping. The Amazfit T-Rex might be the better built of the three? Hard to say. They all have pro's and con's it really comes down to the use case.
Honestly for the money ($145CAD) this watch is very hard to beat maybe impossible. The 30+ different watch faces you can choose from and the time the battery lasts compared to most it’s still an awesome deal a year and a bit later after release.
Great revivew. Impressive watch for a great price. Really bad that heart rate accuracy wasn´t that good. Really crapy that it dosen´t support heart rate strap.
Great review, thanks! I was actually surprised to see that the heart rate accuracy was so bad since I've recently reviewed much cheaper bands like the Mi fit 6 and the Honor band 6 which produced some very accurate heart rate results
@@ChaseTheSummit I was tempted to order it also for a review, but thanks to you I decided not to, so you've saved me a few bucks haha. My wife would sleep better now!
Can i use it for casual wear like for office stuff and all... I love this watch because I'm into g shock type.... So is this good for daily office usage
Have this watch and it's good but the HR is just not that good seems to be a good 40bpm out sometimes when cycling and other times low when am work hard up a hill. It's a shame as if was more closer to chest strap or even had the BT to be able to attach chest strap it be a great watch. Still like it but think am going to polar grit X as been offered one at a good price. Great review all the same and hello from Hampshire UK 👍
i have the stratos 3 and it does connect to an external hr band. you have to do it throught the settings of thr actual workout (not the general settings»bluetooth) maybe its the same for the trex
If you're looking for a budget option it's now available for $125 . . . how is that for price versus performance? I can't afford a $200+ sports watch. What are your thoughts?
Garmin HR works so well compared to Amazfit, and with Amazfit watches you cannot see your previous/missed notifications or other watch functions during an activity which is super dumb. Garmin do this perfectly.
It would do the job but I think the Instinct would give you more features for that activity. The instinct also has navigation features and can follow a course.
I think they're having problems with the new 2.0 heart rate sensor cause I have the Amazfit GTS and the heart rate is exactly on par with my Vivoactive 3. Great review! 😁
Oh interesting! I'm interested to see what DesFit thinks of the T-Rex Pro and if he gets similar results. I tried everything to get good numbers but it just wouldn't work for me. Maybe I got a dud! Thanks for sharing and watching Josie!
@@ChaseTheSummit Desfit had the same problem with the GTS 2 and it has the same version heart rate sensor as the T-Rex pro... We'll see... Maybe an update will fix the problem!
Can you turn off Bluetooth during the day and it will save your data until the next time you synch and will update? For example, I don't like sleeping with Bluetooth on. Can I turn it off and update my sleep in the morning when I turn Bluetooth back on?
What is the range for the Heart Rates since my resting HR is in the low to mid 40's. Are you able to see what HR you have at any time using the app? The other thing I find funny about the T-Rex Pro is that it passed all of the "Military" spec's i.e. 100-meter depth, 159F to -40F, you can swim and surf with it, but it states you can not take a shower with it.
It's probably due to the heat and possibly the chemicals in soaps for showering. I personally showered with it without an issue. In terms of HR it's not super accurate.
Between those two I think the T-Rex Pro actually has more features but the GBD-H1000 has better battery life and is probably a little better built. Your call!
The external HR support is a bummer for sure. Not sure why they made that choice! The Touch Screen is pretty good actually and I like that it still has a full set of buttons so you don't necessarily even need to use the touch screen when you're running. Thanks for watching Innes!
Not sure. The design of the sensor seems OK. There's definitely something funky going on with it though. I tried various positions and tightness of the strap to no avail. Thanks for watching!
Great Review....Im looking at the TRex Pro versus the Polar ignite 2. I want something to track my runs, cycling and most importantly open water swims. I swim in the sea. Does anyone have any experience with either in open water swim tracking (distance is fine, all the other data is a bonus). Thanks in advance
I can't speak to how accurate the TRex pro would be at open water swimming but I have a sneaking suspicion the Polar option would be more reliable only judging by my past experiences. Hope that helps!

Kinda depends what you're looking for. As far as being a "sports watch" I'd take the Pace 2 all day. Thanks for watching!
Great revivew. Impressive watch for a great price. Really bad that heart rate accuracy wasn´t that good. Really crapy that it dosen´t support heart rate strap.
Yeah unfortunate that it doesn't support BT accessories. That could certainly help. Thanks for watching!

Nice vid! I would love to see a fitness review of the Xiaomi Mi watch global. It has Strava and triathlon mode for a 100usd watch
Thanks for the suggestion!
Great review, thanks!
I was actually surprised to see that the heart rate accuracy was so bad since I've recently reviewed much cheaper bands like the Mi fit 6 and the Honor band 6 which produced some very accurate heart rate results
Yeah it's unfortunate! I'm not sure if it's just my skin or my actual product it certainly wasn't delivering. Thanks for watching.
@@ChaseTheSummit I was tempted to order it also for a review, but thanks to you I decided not to, so you've saved me a few bucks haha. My wife would sleep better now!
@@RunWithMyDog In my case, the readings of Amerzfit were similar with medical equipment. I don’t know the reason. Anyway still one of best VFM.
@@mannomadsi5996 which model do you mean?
Can i use it for casual wear like for office stuff and all... I love this watch because I'm into g shock type.... So is this good for daily office usage
Sure!
Would you recommend this as a "asthetically" pleasing watch to replace my garmin instinct solar?
Depends what you consider to be good looking. I think it looks really similar to an instinct!
Thanks for sharing! Unfortunately I have similar results.
Just grabbed this for 50$ on clearance at the wally world.
Thank you for the review
Thanks for watching!
i have the stratos 3 and it does connect to an external hr band. you have to do it throught the settings of thr actual workout (not the general settings»bluetooth) maybe its the same for the trex
Unfortunately that's not the case with the T-Rex Pro. Thanks for sharing!
Wish I say this review a few months ago. My assessment is similar and I'm disappointed with the heart rate monitor
Sorry to hear that!
Great choice for review 👍🏼
Thanks!
If you're looking for a budget option it's now available for $125 . . . how is that for price versus performance? I can't afford a $200+ sports watch. What are your thoughts?
Good deal!
Does it measure VO2 max or not? Amazon claims it does but then only discusses SPO2 in description
Yes it does but in my experience it’s not super accurate
Good job. Only issue with those brand.. may end up like Tomtom discontinued no support...
That is a concern. It's not quite as useful if the app isn't supported.
Good day and blessings. I would like to know which watch is better under your criteria. The Honor gs pro or the Amazfit T rex Pro
I prefer the Amazfit T-Rex because the app is a bit easier to use. Both have issues with HR accuracy.
Excellent Analysis.
Thanks!
Can we buy it form long term use??
And also share your experience with this watch how long you use it for...
Sure, it should last a while!
Hey bro, how did you put all three HR measures in the same graph? Was it an specific app?
Quantified Self or DC Rainmakers analyzer tool work great.
Can I connect a chest HR-sensor?
What do you have on test now? I believe you are testing Garmin 955 or will receive it for the test in the near future.
Stay tuned and you’ll see!
How about testing the g-shock gbd h1000. This watch seems pretty capable also.
It's on my list to check out!
Garmin HR works so well compared to Amazfit, and with Amazfit watches you cannot see your previous/missed notifications or other watch functions during an activity which is super dumb. Garmin do this perfectly.
Thanks for sharing!
I'm a trekker and a mountaineer is it good for that activities or i should go with Garmin instinct solar?
It would do the job but I think the Instinct would give you more features for that activity. The instinct also has navigation features and can follow a course.
Which watches would you compare with this watch with AMOLED display and similar features and similar price?
There's not many out there. Maybe the Garmin Venu 2 but it's twice the price.
@@ChaseTheSummit ok thanks👍
Does it have some sort of breadcrumb navigation ? 🙂 I already own Vertix but I am just curious 🙂
Unfortunately it does not. No navigation features aside from a basic compass and altimeter. Thanks for watching
Between the three GPS options, which one is the best: BDS, GLONASS, or Galileo?
Depends on your location but generally I think GPS works best in the USA.
Vivoactive 3 HR sucks. Fenix 6 is far superior line
Can you turn off Bluetooth during the day and it will save your data until the next time you synch and will update? For example, I don't like sleeping with Bluetooth on. Can I turn it off and update my sleep in the morning when I turn Bluetooth back on?
Yup
Amazfit gtr2 Vs Garmin Venu Sq music...which one to go for? Can afford both... Which is a more value for money proposition?
I'd probably go for the Venu SQ but that's just my opinion. Garmin's Ecosystem is much better and the Venu SQ has a decent heart rate sensor.
I love the watch just wish they had military time option
Odd that it doesn't considering the target demographic.
Sir what should i buy gbd h1000 or this one i don't like Garmin design
Between those two I think the T-Rex Pro actually has more features but the GBD-H1000 has better battery life and is probably a little better built. Your call!
Hi, does it support multi sport without having to break/stop the existing sport, like in a triathlon
Unfortunately it does not.
You should review the first version of the trex
Seems pretty similar other than missing some activities, apps, and the water resistance rating. I'll put it on the list though. Thanks for watching!
No option to use a chest strap is a big problem I would of thought. That and the touch screen would put me off for a start.
The external HR support is a bummer for sure. Not sure why they made that choice! The Touch Screen is pretty good actually and I like that it still has a full set of buttons so you don't necessarily even need to use the touch screen when you're running. Thanks for watching Innes!
What if I want something just for sleep? I just don’t wanna do the whoop so will this do !? Thanks
Mediocre. If you prioritized sleep I'd look into Garmin, Polar or a device like the Whoop band or Oura Ring.
If we don't care about the price, Garmin instinct vs T-Rex pro, which is the better choice?
Garmin instinct secondhand 190$ vs T-Rex pro new 180$, which one should i choose?
If it were my money I'd go for the Garmin but it's a matter of preference.
Will you recommend This watch for cycling?
It can do it. But if you're an advanced cyclist you'd benefit from a watch that can pair with a power/speed sensor. The Amazfit T-Rex can not.
Do you think heartrate accuracy can be fixed by a software update!?
Not sure. The design of the sensor seems OK. There's definitely something funky going on with it though. I tried various positions and tightness of the strap to no avail. Thanks for watching!
For running you prefer amazfit Trex Pro or Coros Pace 2?
Pace 2 hands down.
Does it have a jumprope feature
Yes it does
Please give me a reply, samsung watch active 2 or amazfit t rex pro is better
I don't have any experience with the Samsung Active Watch 2.
Which one is better if I buy now. Amazefit trex or trex pro??
I’d probably go for the pro since it’s not much more.
Hi there, does this watch have a triathlon mode support, and have they fixed the heart rate accuracy problem? Also, do they have a HR broadcast mode?
There's no HR Broadcast mode but there is a Triathlon Mode that was added in a firmware update back in April.
@@ChaseTheSummit thanks for the reply. Much appreciated. :-)
