I just purchased the Cheetah Fit Pro. I am coming from a Samsung Watch 4. The Pro was on sale last week on Amazon for $269. It is allowing me to hook up an external HR strap so that is not an issue. The battey life is amazing. Screen is good. Ability to set up custom HR alerts is perfect for a beginner runner looking to do MAF or low heart rate. Also allows for calibration of treadmill which my Samsung did not. And all for $269
@@brucelin5842 I think it depends on your use case. If you are a pure runner I would go with Coros Pace 3. If you are more a Triathlete and looking for a good watch Forerunner 265. Have in mind that the Amazfit HR sensors are very sensitive to where you wear them on your wrist and how tight the band is. You need to wear it as far back on your wrist, more that two fingers width and have them really tight. It makes a lot of difference., It would be good to see some comparison results of other metrics like aerobic/anaerobic effect, workout load, recovery time with the other watches. Nevertheless, a very comprehensive review and I really enjoyed it!

Hi Dave, Thank you very much for yet another detailed video, the fundamental issue with this make is the heart rate sensor which is supposed to be the cornerstone in any fitness device. All the critical parameters such as HRV, Recovery, VO2 max and stress depend on the heart rate sensor and if that is faltering there is no point in positioning the product from a price point and releasing so many models. I have experienced a similar issue with whoop strap as well, where the heart rate is inaccurate and all the measurements inevitably becomes a moot point. Do you have any suggestions to mitigate these shortcoming?
Use an external HRM when doing exercise. I have an Amazfit GTR4 and using an external heart rate monitor (I use an optical arm band) resolves any issues with heart rate accuracy.

My guess is that they have more data with the previous sensor. So the accuracy of AI is higher. Thats why they put it into their top watch. The next iteration might get newer sensor because they'll gather enough data on it.

Actually, I can not agree with any of these statements. Now I am looking for a watch because my Fenix 6 battery just burned 2 month after guarantee. Girl at support literally told be that I can put it to trash. Also even on Reddit, many similar stories . The watch heart rate was also poor - running, ok it is highly optimized, but squash, table tennis, tennis, volleyball, fitness. Damn there were jumps from 180 to 95 in one second :D. I understand that it is only optical technology, not accurate. But what you have wrote for me is what they want you to believe about the Garmin. For the price I paid (600$) I could buy 2 of amazfits.
Enjoyable review, thanx! One missing info, does it work with Stryd? I am interested in Instant Pace mainly and with my Coros Pace 2 if I use Stryd, it's pretty accurate so I can Pace myself. Regarding the HR accuracy one trick that I use with my Pace 2 is to wear it up on the arm, as much as the opened Nylon Band allows. This way it becomes very accurate.
@@ChaseTheSummitI still think it's better getting the 245. In my opinion, getting a smartwatch only makes sense if it's cellular. I find doing phone functions while having a phone on you is a bit gimmicky, don't you think?

Like most brands, you get bashers and those that go with a brand. These are Chinese so automaticllay get hammered for that as crap. Had a few Amazfit watches and been fine. The HR problem?. Yes its there but basically all other brands are off too. I run with a Garmin 255 which my colleagues kindly brought for me and HR readings are ok until I start to run and get to top end speed and HR gettings upto 185...I'm 61 and with strap...which to get good readings you need it is 160. Loads of things on the Garmin sound really good but are not correct. Estimated run times for my 5k - 10k etc are miles off. 25.23 est for my 5 k and best to date is 27.20 that was years ago. Expect Amazfit is same. HRV is good on Garmin though. Recovery time on Garmin goes to 48 hrs sometimes after a gentle 5k....sure Amazfit is the same. Garmin are a great brand no doubt but cetrtainly not the holy grail that we sometimes hold them up to be. Don't need this watch at present but is just as good as most other watches around by looks of it and would certainly consider it.
Very true. Garmin has some major issues. Mostly the bad sleep tracking. And sleep determines training readiness. I normally run 10k for 6 days a week. I once had some soreness and switched to the elliptical for 4 days. When I was running normally again and feeling perfectly fine, my Garmin claimed I needed over 60 hrs recovery time 😂. Absolute nonsense. Admittedly the GPS and heart rate monitoring is fine, the rest - not so much. And they still use the old charging cables, no magnetic or wireless chargers until the Fenix 7. No upgrade for 10 years basically. And almost every update is buggy, they never listen to complaints, the software gets fixed with updates instead of selling a finished product. I just ordered my first Amazfit and can't wait to see how it compares. I mostly use Huawei and the Garmin Instinct 2X on the other arm to keep the connect app up to date.
it's because they're crap with no updates/cheap algos/fake stats. There's a reason why DC Rainmaker stopped reviewing this brand. Even living in a country like the Netherlands which is easier to get and review chineseware.
@anonymous134y You'll actually find a review of the Cheetah over on Ray's website... So it aint just me! www.dcrainmaker.com/2023/06/amazfit-cheetah-pro-gps-watch-quick-review-thoughts-after-using-it-for-a-week.html
Good morning, and thank you for a well put together video as always! For the price point it’s a nice watch. It’s been about three weeks since the Apple event, and was just wondering when you might give us a preliminary assessment, on the new trail map function with the Apple Watch Ultra? I think that’s what most people are waiting for. Thanks again.
People are certainly waiting for it. Unfortunately part of the developer release of WatchOS10 there's an NDA where media outlets (or youtube channels) are not allowed to show first hand experience with the software. This is why you won't find much about the features on RUclips unless that channel decides to break the rules (and get apple mad at them!). Stay tuned... You'll see much more about WatchOS 10 in July!
@@ChaseTheSummit thanks so much for being open and transparent about why you are unable to give your first impressions. It’s really a shame that they do this! You wonder if they do this because the software isn’t polished yet or under performs? Kind of very similar to when they showed us a guy climbing a tall mountain with the Ultrawatch and lo and behold, the watch basically had no sort of mapping whatsoever. This is where you have to give a big kudos to companies like Amazfit for at least giving customers mapping that is more than Apple has ever given its customers and they charge nearly $800.00 for the Ultra which was advertised as an outdoor enthusiast watch? I think one of the major reasons why Apple did not focus on developing maps is because it relies on revenue streams from third-party apps. If it made its own apps for different functions, it would cut off its revenue stream that it made from third-party apps. I have the Apple Watch Ultra and a Garmin Epix, and I enjoy both, but as the saying goes, you have to call a spade a spade.
@@mden2490 I do not think the lack of mapping is because of profit from third party apps. Apple could have easily just charge for maps or include the functionality for “free” as part of their payed bundles. It seems like Apple just wanted to do a luxurious jewellery not an actual equipment used by athletes. Ultra for me is more of an fancy SUV with a low ground clearance running on street tires 😂 Apple has its own opinions on what customers need and often does not give a f for years.
С учетом того что и гармин и амазфит показали примерно один путь, то врет яблоко. В первом случае оно поняло что бег по замкнутой и подогнало рисунок. Во втором, похоже что у яблока идет меньше запросов и из-за этого срезается путь.
Does anyone know if this model has an altimeter and barometer? I would like to ask another question. Is there a storm alert feature? Does the device warn when a storm is about to occur? By the way, your video is very nice.
That's definitely not normal. I use an optical armband HRM with my GTR 4 and it doesn't cause any additional noticeable battery drain. I've used mine for activities as long as a 13.5h 300km bike ride without any battery issues whatsoever.
It is never correct to compare the Heart Rate to another smartwatch. The gold standard is to compare it with an ECG strap. Polar 8 or 10 is considered the gold standard to compare wearable devices based on optical reading. You should send the HR from Polar to garmin as your comparator, for example. Second, the best method to assess heart rate accuracy is not the visual inspection you do, nor the "correlation graph" other youtubers do Wearable devices HR variability is better described using the Bland and Altman plots with some objective 'statistics' so users will be better informed. Few serious users (elite athelees and those with medical cardiac conditions) in need of an accurate HR should use a chest strap, not the optical reading. BTW, amazfit Cheetah, GTR4 and GTS4 allow to receive HR from external chest straps. This combo (chest strap + Amazfit) is way cheaper that a premium non-amoled competitor smartwatch
In the heart rate section of this video I’m comparing the Cheetah Pro to an ECG sensor (Garmin HRM Pro) which is on the same level as a good Polar sensor. Thanks for watching.
i am amazed how much amazfit works put on. have trex pro gen 1 and suunto 7. And simple amazfit being 4 times cheaper is so much more simplier to use. Waiting for amazfit solar editions
I'm using the Coros Pace 3 and it is just fantastic. Accurate. Tons of features. Useful data. Great Data and insights from running and other activity tracking and great battery life. The only minus is - it doesn't have an Amoled but that's also the best part. It has Always on display by default (as in - your watch face is your always on display as well with backlight off). It as good as an amoled under sunlight and outdoor conditions.
Tell me, does Cheetah Pro have track guidance and return to the starting point of the route (Direct Return Navigation), like T-rex 2? Are there any fundamental differences between the watch and the T-rex Ultra in terms of navigation?
The only thing I like on amazfit watch is the PAI ,it's easy to understand how much workout I has done weekly and enough or not why another watch doesn't have PAI or similar thing ?
I just purchased the Cheetah Pro and updated it to version 1.21.9.3 (as indicated in the Zepp app). Is this the latest version, when does Balance go to 3.0?
Your 9% loss in a 1 hour 40 minute activity would suggest somewhere around 18 hours of life in automatic mode which is much worse than what you quoted from the manufacturer. I think you should have pointed that out
You’re right. These are battery estimates however. They’ll never be dead on especially with OLED displays as it really depends how often the user is interacting with the screen. Hopefully it was still helpful. Thanks for watching.

You get a lot for your money with Amazfit but of course there are also some compromises if you compare e.g. build quality, technology, and accuracy with the top end Garmin watches. So the question is whether to go for cheap and cheerful or high end at a cost, and at this point do remember that these watches tend to depreciate in time with development of new technology, meaning really fast. That said I have been a Garmin customer for many years and I don't see myself jumping ship and putting my hard earned money into Chinese owned and manufactured technology.

Make a comparison with the Gtr 4, as I honestly didn't see any difference between the two.
Main differences are the nicer build quality, offline maps, Nylon band, and new GPS chipset.
Gtr 4 has better hr senser while cheetah has better gps chip
Enjoyable review, thanx! One missing info, does it work with Stryd? I am interested in Instant Pace mainly and with my Coros Pace 2 if I use Stryd, it's pretty accurate so I can Pace myself.
Regarding the HR accuracy one trick that I use with my Pace 2 is to wear it up on the arm, as much as the opened Nylon Band allows. This way it becomes very accurate.
Yes it supports Stryd here’s more info: support.stryd.com/hc/en-us/articles/360044293773-Suunto-Compatibility-with-Stryd

Thanks for the video, nice insight.
My question: Is it possible to plan a route in the app, send it to the watch and let it guide you through?
Yes this is possible but you need to create the course in something like GaiaGPS or Strava then import it into the app.
great GPS accuracy
My new garmin just arrived like 3 hours ago then this video appear
Great review! I have a question though; Would you also recommend the forerunner 245 music over it?
Tough call, the 245 still has a few advantages in terms of sports/wellness. The Cheetah has a few advantages in the smartwatch/daily use realm.
@@ChaseTheSummitI still think it's better getting the 245. In my opinion, getting a smartwatch only makes sense if it's cellular. I find doing phone functions while having a phone on you is a bit gimmicky, don't you think?
@@ericcroyle4013 Forerruner 255... 245 is very outdated.
I’ve noticed my cheetah round has a sensitive screen wen water touches it… I went for a open water swim and my cheetah round would not function it would freeze and I lost my swim results
Just found the channel. Enjoy the reviews on tech and wearables.
I’m confused about the positioning of this product, is it a GTR 4 replacement?
It seems that way but I'm not totally sure since this is at a slightly higher price point? I wouldn't be surprised if we still see a GTR5 some day.
I would switch to Garmin if you're serious about sports.
I bought second hand in couple weeks ago, I had issue with the unit.. I feel it has some delay when raise to wake, a lil bit delay compare with my last watch Redmi Watch 4.
I mostly use Huawei and the Garmin Instinct 2X on the other arm to keep the connect app up to date.
hundreds of people review watches from Amazfit, and none of these people run around with watches from Amazfit.
Lol hahaha 🤣
it's because they're crap with no updates/cheap algos/fake stats. There's a reason why DC Rainmaker stopped reviewing this brand.
Even living in a country like the Netherlands which is easier to get and review chineseware.
@anonymous134y You'll actually find a review of the Cheetah over on Ray's website... So it aint just me! www.dcrainmaker.com/2023/06/amazfit-cheetah-pro-gps-watch-quick-review-thoughts-after-using-it-for-a-week.html

Would it be hudge improvement from stratos 3 regarding gps and heart rate accuracy?
@@mden2490
I do not think the lack of mapping is because of profit from third party apps.
Apple could have easily just charge for maps or include the functionality for “free” as part of their payed bundles.
It seems like Apple just wanted to do a luxurious jewellery not an actual equipment used by athletes. Ultra for me is more of an fancy SUV with a low ground clearance running on street tires 😂
Apple has its own opinions on what customers need and often does not give a f for years.
By the way, your video is very nice.
tried amazfit stratos linked to chest strap, burned through 25% battery after half hour run, sold and got a fenix 3.
That's strange. Thanks for sharing.
That's definitely not normal. I use an optical armband HRM with my GTR 4 and it doesn't cause any additional noticeable battery drain. I've used mine for activities as long as a 13.5h 300km bike ride without any battery issues whatsoever.
How old Stratos was? Battery degrades over time
@@dimka11ggg bought new and initial battery drain from 1hr run = 20% chest strap and GPS,sold it fenix 3 ever since
I hope they'll roll out a version with transreflective display
How do I set the settings so that the dark display of the "Amazfit cheetah pro" watch only shows the date and time when I turn my wrist?
i am amazed how much amazfit works put on. have trex pro gen 1 and suunto 7. And simple amazfit being 4 times cheaper is so much more simplier to use. Waiting for amazfit solar editions
Hey Dave, great review. Any idea if COROS has any plans for a Pace 3 this year?
I'm using the Coros Pace 3 and it is just fantastic. Accurate. Tons of features. Useful data. Great Data and insights from running and other activity tracking and great battery life. The only minus is - it doesn't have an Amoled but that's also the best part. It has Always on display by default (as in - your watch face is your always on display as well with backlight off). It as good as an amoled under sunlight and outdoor conditions.
Amazfit cheetah pro or the Coros Pace 3, which one is better for triathlon?
Tell me, does Cheetah Pro have track guidance and return to the starting point of the route (Direct Return Navigation), like T-rex 2?
Are there any fundamental differences between the watch and the T-rex Ultra in terms of navigation?
Navigation is similar between the two. I don't think there's a difference.
The only thing I like on amazfit watch is the PAI ,it's easy to understand how much workout I has done weekly and enough or not
why another watch doesn't have PAI or similar thing ?
That's interesting because I don't find the PAI score too useful. Thanks for sharing your experience.
If you don't care about brand biases. Amazfit works the best and offers competitive pricing. Much better than my Fitbit pro
"Best" is subjective to what your needs are.

is it possible to make the Amazfit Cheetah Pro turn on the screen for only 10 seconds after turning the wrist?
I just purchased the Cheetah Pro and updated it to version 1.21.9.3 (as indicated in the Zepp app).
Is this the latest version, when does Balance go to 3.0?
Hr sensor almost similar to epix pro
Does it look better in person? Cause on the video that copper gold color looks fugly.
Nope, looks just about the same as the video lol. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder!
Thanks for watching.
which has a better heart rate sensors without using strap, amazfit cheetah or coros pace 2?
They're kind of on the same level in terms of optical heart rate performance.

How does your chanel get this watch when there is no this product video on their official channel yet :P
lol great question!
Do you think cheetah pro is better than balance?
You get a lot for your money with Amazfit but of course there are also some compromises if you compare e.g. build quality, technology, and accuracy with the top end Garmin watches. So the question is whether to go for cheap and cheerful or high end at a cost, and at this point do remember that these watches tend to depreciate in time with development of new technology, meaning really fast. That said I have been a Garmin customer for many years and I don't see myself jumping ship and putting my hard earned money into Chinese owned and manufactured technology.
Does this have nfc payment? None of the previous amazfit watch do.
Nope
You forgot the corps pace 2 under £200
Is this Cheetah the new GTR 5?
With that price of 300 dollars…just go for the Garmin Forerunner 255/265

Does it support texting with a keyboard feature?
No
Does this have wrist based power metrics? Thanks
Yes
