I restore WW2 German vehicles and weapon systems. After a full restoration it's fascinating (and a bit disheartening) to watch the paint fade, scratch, chip, and metal rust due to use for movies and reenactments. You did a wonderful job illustrating the look of a seasoned armoured vehicle.
Is that so. I'm not a pro so I can't spend a lot of money on one model. I had no choice but to go through a lot of trial and error to make the rubber tracks look realistic. Thank you for your comment.👍
I used to built models (1/72) when I was a teen. Most were planes but there were tanks, guns and several vehicules too. It's over for me now. But congratulations and more for your talent and your patience ! Huge job !!
I used to enjoy making airplane models, but one day I suddenly became absorbed in making tank models. This is because there is a wide and deep tolerance for modeling that allows you to freely modify your own ideas and inspirations. But if you enjoy it as a hobby, it's all fun to build ships, planes, and tanks. Thanks for your comment.🍺
Here's a tip for painting armored vehicles models that I used for years, and, used semi-professionally: instead of using paint to simulate wear & tear, use very fine sandpaper to "polish" the model paint to inflict actual wear. This gives a particular sheen that cannot be duplicated by painting to imply distress. It makes it appear like actual steel. Try it on areas that people would walk on, etc. Another: when painting figures, the clothing must be done with absolutely flat paint with zero sheen, otherwise it looks like shiny rubber or something other than wool. Final tip: putting ammo cans, panzerfausts, etc on the engine exhausts would be a real-world, bad idea. Heat & explosives just don't mix....
Inspiring work. Seeing models turn out this good motivates me to keep practicing and trying new techniques. I really like how the figures turned out too. Thanks for the awesome video!

I use 2-3 differing shades for this. The thicker latex/acrylic DB paint catches on the previously exposed/chipped edges wonderfully, then providing DEPTH & faded paint wear areas that resemble the real thing in high use, wear & tear areas, as the red primer still shows underneath it... 8-Then Ill pin wash again & repeat the process, building depth... 9-Then use the "sponge chipping" technique on all high-wear corner areas of the steel... 10-Then dull coat it/apply dry transfers or decals...;)

-GORGEOUS build BTW, I just cant get over how close our build/painting styles are!...Ha!
-Instead of pre/post shading, I follow a similar paint path:
1-Usually apply ATAK Zimmerit if needed, then prime w/rattle can grey...
2-Spray Tamiya XF84 Dark Iron together w/"model master" red oxide/rust...
3-Hair spray...
4-Spray TAM Dark yellow & camo colors...
5-Chip it up...
6-Apply pin washes with TAM black & brown panel liners..
7-Then I build up layers dry brushing lighter shades of paint from darkest shade to lightest on all the colors used-(For instance: To do so for TAM XF60 Dark Yellow, I mix XF60 with common white latex paint in tubes, which provides for a THICK, highly dry-brushable mix. I use 2-3 differing shades for this.
