WIRBELWIND camouflaged with autumn leaves - Part 2 - 1/35 TAMIYA - [ Painting weathering ]

- In Part 2, I recreated the plants that I wasn't satisfied with in the Part 1 video from scratch using Leaf Punch.
The result was a finish that was very close to what I had envisioned.
However, I still see some points that need improvement.
Next spring/summer season, with these points in mind, I would like to try camouflage with plants again, this time with fresh green trees.
Well, first of all, here's the completed video of Part 2 of the anti-aircraft tank Wirbelwind, which concludes the "Autumn High Resolution Plant Recommendation Month for Camouflage".

パート1の動画で少し納得のいかなかった植物をパート2では「リーフパンチ」を使って作り直しました。
結果、私が思い描くイメージに非常に近い仕上がりとなりました。
ただし、まだまだ改善すべきポイントは幾つか見えていて、
来年の春夏には、それらのポイントを踏まえた上で今度は新緑の木々の枝葉を作り再度植物によるカムフラージュに挑戦したいと考えています。

Love the leaves! You might consider spraying them with water and then applying heat to dry so they will curl up like real dead/dying leaves.

1) What is the purpose of "spraying gloss clear with pinpoint" after finishing camouflage painting?
2) What is the purpose of "coating the whole thing with semi-gloss clear" after pasting decals?
3) What solvent you used in weathering the tank body with oil paint?

I used footage and photos of actual German anti-aircraft tanks from World War II as reference.🍰🍰🍰
washing with oil colour... how do you thinning the oil colour to get the washing effect?
I use Tamiya's enamel solvent to dilute oil paint.🍊🍊🍊
Is there any chance you could show how you painted the figures?
I'm not very good at painting figures, so I redid them many times, and finished it by making subtle mistakes. It would be unnatural and difficult to summarize such difficult work processes as a tutorial video. Over the years 30 plus since I haved pick up the brush and glues I have been stocking up so U can build any images diorama and been studying books and watching these process but today I feel you have shown me the standards of how and what I want to replicate you nailed it the only issue is the leaves as I have to the same tool tools to punch leaves but I thing they are over sized but that can be remedy the leaves are bigger than hands but will look for solutions anyway I just wanted to tank you for inspiring me to the sequence and standards that I will follow I believe that these are museum placement standards you know it out of the ballpark not only for museum placement but also for selling to collectors for table and office static viewing art thanks I will do along and watch many times till it become natural you have the rhythm and natural flow and the outcomes are professional thanks once again and for me all the learning books and stuff that I spent to only come to your step procedures has lit my eyes and mind I will follow thank you and its my pleasure to come to this conclusion today! It is. They had one on display at CFB Borden back in the day and I was shocked. I think some one, probably the Ontario Regiment Museum is restoring it to running condition.

葉っぱパンチャー買いました。初めの印象は・・・・・本体、小っちゃ！（笑）
もう一つ二つ葉っぱの種類の違う物を揃えて、3種類ぐらい混在させて使うともっと情報量が増えて見た目にもリアルになるかもしれません。一般的になぜか植物を使ったカムフラージュの作例はあまり多く見かけることはないのですが、ドイツ戦車にはある意味欠かせないカムフラージュの技法の一つです。そのリアリティーを追求して見るのもまた面白いかもしれないと一人思う今日この頃です。🍎🍏🍎

Right at the beginning and during the video, it is shown that the leaf cutter is from "Greenstuff World" (famous brand for crafting and model equipment). Typing "greenstuff world leaf cutter" into Google did the trick for me, although apparently they are called "leaf punch".
Ebay or craft shops or even google. I searched leaf cutter craft on ebay and found some. An oak leaf cutter was top.

Nice to see your approach in camouflaging this awesome whirlwind. The result is excellent. I have a selection of these leaf clippers but always use them on actual leafs from my garden. I will have to try your paper method as it looks convincing too ✨👍✨

Nice ! You can get a very realistic Splittertarnmuster camo by making the "rain drops" with a lead pencil, then a layer of mat clear coat to fix it.

What are tree branches made from? Great Wirbelwind camo.
I use the stems of Gypsophila that have been made into dried flowers.🍎🍎🍎
Only panzers at the western front use extensively leaves foliage camo. due to the heavy presence of allies aircrafts (thunderbolt, mustang or typhoon). Wirbelwind is usually issue to only independent schweren panzer abteilung & not other panzer formation.

Be very careful with too much aging and weathering.
Most modelers forget that most of these tanks were new when the war started.
They were painted in good quality paint. It would take decades to acquire the amount of aging like we see in this video.
Less is more. Lots of mud is historical accurate. Lots of rust, damage and wear is NOT !!
There are many different ways to enjoy things. I just enjoy weathering techniques on toy tanks as a way to enjoy a certain hobby. I believe that the rigid concept that everything has to be made with perfect historical accuracy is a ridiculous factor that inhibits one way of enjoying scale models. Honestly, I feel disgusted with hard-headed adults who can't understand how each person can freely enjoy playing with toy tanks. Thanks for your comment.🍊

Also, an old, battered, well used tank usually has damaged wheels, especially the rubber is chipped. Many modelers overlook this detail.
