    Chase I fucking love you. I love watching you talk about shit for like half of the review. I've been struggling recently, I always thought that I wanted to travel the world, that traveling would make me happy but now, thinking about it I'm like "but how ? Why ? Why do we travel ? Are we just escaping from reality ? What is it really that enternain us in travel ? I don't know..." if you have any answers, I would love to hear it !
    Btw, since I know you're typical audience is like 40 years old dudes, I just wanted you to know that I'm an 18 year old girl, your audience might be broader than you think ;)

    @Chase Reeves knocked it out the park again! Love your videos, your guidance is so appreciated! Me and the missus are off to Europe for 3 months in September, the struggle is real :) Trying to navigate around the bag, packing, & clothing options is a right mare! Without you content we would be lost. So, I've got my bag choice down to Aer Travel 2....BUT....I heard a rumour you're working on a little summin sumin. Will it be out before September, if so should I wait or just go for the Aer as I've watched so many vids I just need to pull the trigger. The handles not having something to wrap around them is my biggest complaint as well. To me, having something that wraps the handles helps on the stress the two handles put on your hand when you are carrying it with a full load of clothes and stuff. But I got it with the kickstarter and i really like it otherwise.

    I'm not even in the market for a bag at the moment (bought a tom bihn because of you and it is perfect), and every time, I'm totally up for another 30+mi bag review. They're really great.
    Re: Handle, I don't have a solution for you, but anyone designing a handle like that should go pickup a Briggs and Riley 231X Cabin Bag (which I use for when I want to be fancy) and just steal that. It is magnetic, so its really fast to open and close and yet, due to the design being more similar to traditional snap handle, it is a very comfortable grab.
    Does the handle on the peak design allow stuffing a fairly large jacket between the handles? I find most magnetic handles won't stand up to that, but the B&R will.

    • @chasereeves
      @chasereeves  5 лет назад

      These magnets won’t hold a jacket on their own, but the handle length is one of my favs to date for slipping a jacket in there.

    I purchased one of these as part of the Kickstarter. I agree that the handles suck. I really wanted something that would wrap around them and snap because I typically carry a duffel by the handles instead of using a shoulder strap. I found some velcro handles on Amazon that work (don't remember where I found them): smile.amazon.com/Cosmos-Comfort-Neoprene-Luggage-Suitcase/dp/B00JL2RPLK?ref_=ast_bbp_dp&th=1&psc=1
    I'm still hoping they release other better versions as well since you could easily swap them out.

    Wow Chase, you really hit a homerun in this video.. Yet not about the bag. (Great review, great honesty, and helped in my decision to order one!)
    The spot on description of some people travelling and then gaining the feeling of being superior because they have been in far away locations and seen 'special' things. Combined with the way you appreciate people who make their own choices and put their own, HONEST!, values up front. Thank you.....
    I believe that the current society is based upon way too much fakery, especially fed by people trying to be 'different from the rest', who are trying to 'be the best you', whilst still struggeling with their own feelings just to keep up their public image.
    To be honest I wish more RUclipsrs and influencers would speak out about the inherent problems of constantly trying to be 'different' and 'unique' from anyone else in the realistic way you did.
    Thank you very much. Keep up the honesty (and frankly, the struggles/doubt). It's what makes us all human :-)
    (And of course, sub well earned :-D )

    Chase Reeves... one of the best videos ever. I've mentioned before I like your insight and perspective... because you "think" and "use your mind" and go deep in considering that which many do not. Maybe it's obvious I am on the "Yay" side of the "Yay/Idiot" spectrum. And for what it's worth, I think many of us detect a pretty good deal of intellect/insightfulness/thoughtfulness in your persona. The others just came to hear about a bag. BTW, very nice design on the PDTD. It makes me wish I liked carrying a duffel. I prefer the displacement of backpacks with less torque/twist on my back.

    Use case for this would also be two bag travel where you just need a place to shove larger but lighter items like a coat, umbrella, pair of shoes, PJs, and maybe a sweater or two. Things light enough to hand carry but too bulky to waste the room in your main bag. Keep the weight light and you won’t mind tossing the second bag around with you.

    I wondered about the handles when I first looked at the bag. Too bad they seem awkward, but since they can come off one could attempt to fashion another solution that is more comfortable.
    I had the same experience with the Aer Go Tote. It's a nice bag that ticks a lot of boxes for me but the handles are not comfortable to put on your shoulder. It hurts to carry with more than a few pounds of stuff. I tried some padded luggage handle wraps from Amazon and they helped but were not a real solution. I think Aer fell into the same groove as Peak where they were more concerned with how the handles looked than how they felt and worked for their primary purpose. When you're talking about the main interface point the user has with the bag that's a significant shortcoming.
    Keep up the great work. It helps and matters to a lot of us.

    Do you believe that the PD Travel Duffel carrying the same load like a Topo Design Travel Bag 30l or a Cotopaxi Allpa 35l? I noticed that you only used two cubes on the PD Duffel and put a lot more stuff in the review of the Allpa.

      Yea. Similar capacity on all those. With the topo 30l carrying a little less I think.

    I did a CA to PA trip with the Topo 30L Travel Bag and Patagonia 8L Atom Sling, and could not have been happier. I think a main travel bag for gear, and a utility bag/belt/sling for essentials is crucial.

    I love Peak Design and the simplicity of a small duffle. One alternative to suggest is the Filson Small Duffle or Sportsman bag. The Filson small duffle does not have exterior pockets but I use a peak design 5l for carrying those quick access things. The feel and look of Filson bags is special.
    Great ending. It would be great if you also delivered this message on its own and not wrapped in a product review.

    Awesome review as always! This question is not regarding this bag in particular I just wanted to ask since I'm travelling to New Zealand soon, can the Peak Design travel backpack (45L) be taken as carry on?

    Informative review of the bag and insightful commentary on the human experience. Chase, your videos are cathartic for me, lol-reminds me we’re all on this crazy ride together so may as well make it as enjoyable as possible.
    What are your thoughts on travel backpacks vs duffles + packable for 1-bag minimal travel? Do you tend to gravitate toward one setup over the other?

    Great review as always. Quick question. What would fit more as a carry on? This or a roller cary on suitcase.

    • @chasereeves
      @chasereeves  5 лет назад +1

      This is really easy to get up in the overhead. Much easier than most rollers if you don’t pack this out too much (which is where the fun is... what can you survive WITHOUT!)
