I love how like you see mystic mountain forge and you picture a remote homestead in Norway and then you get that heavy southern drawl and woah Anyways great video as always
I know right! It always surprises a lot of people, for a little while I was off grid forging on a remote homestead in Funny River Alaska on the Kenai peninsula. I appreciate you watching!
Beautiful knife. I haven’t made a knife yet, but fixin’ to….question…why harden the blade before grinding bevels? I’m sure there’s a reason, but it would seem easier to do while the metal was soft…then harden. Thanks.
I appreciate you watching! I actually do grind the bevels somewhat before heat treat, usually to about 80-90% completion. If you grind the edge too thin prior the heat treat you run the risk of warping or cracking along the edge, most usually I will go down to a dime thickness before heat treat. I do sometimes save grinding the clip in until after heat treat because hardened steel is more forgiving if I slip than softer steel which would gouge easy. I hope this helps. Thanks again for supporting the channel, I greatly appreciate it.

Looks great, can you make a knife out of titanium?
Thanks! I am not experienced enough to forge titanium sorry. I greatly appreciate you watching.
Like your work do you sell them ?
Thanks! I appreciate you watching, I do sell some of the knives I make on RUclips periodically, I no longer take custom orders anymore.
