  • The logs are cut and peeled. They're drying right now on our land in Alaska. Come this summer, more hard work is needed to build it. I need my body and mind to be ready. Here's how I'm training and preparing for the work ahead.

You can help support my channel for free by using my affiliate code when purchasing a grounding mat or anything else with this link: bit.ly/3vHBCvM.
You know I don't endorse things often (almost never), but this one has the potential to really help people. I bought the bed sheet, a yoga mat, the desk mat, and the feet wraps. (I know- kinda went all in!) I recently went on vacation in Florida and walked miles on the beach every day. I took my feet grounding wraps with me and slept with them on every night. (So small- great for travel in my opinion.) My order was sent with a free book too!
Thanks in advance for your support to my channel and happy grounding!

Just a quick FYI on the grounding......I have a cousin who does the grounding and has found out that plugging into an outlet is not good because it is what they call "dirty electricity." Instead, he puts it out a window to a grounding rod directly into the ground. I have also just started my journey back to health. Thank you for the uplifting and encouraging thoughts. Hearing you have back issues also and see what all you do is encouraging to me, that I can be healthy and active again after two back surgeries. Muscle building, that is what I need. Thanks Brooke, and Be Blessed!

Brooke you are my biggest inspiration. I had my first and only child at 40, and i knew that would put my cabin building dreams on hold. I got FOMO and quite upset, because I didn’t want to be in my 50’s starting my dream. And then while I was pregnant, i found your channel and it blew my mind. I’m so in awe of your capabilities and it gave me so much *knowing* that I can do it too. Thank you for sharing your journey with us and being that inspiration that i, and probably many other women NEED. I’ll be 44 this summer, but because of you, my age no longer bothers me. You go girl! Don't worry about going out into the woods and building something with your blessed child! My parents took the plunge when I was 10, and I was the eldest of the lot... It did us kids nothing but good! And thanks to that lifestyle, I was fully prepared to dive into the off-grid life in the woods that I am now living, in my mid-forties and a grandmother :)

When I was 51, I started digging a koi pond with a shovel. It was 2,000 gallons with a brick waterfall. I had zero experience. I wanted the pond. It took me about 8 months because I broke my arm and had to wait 8 weeks to resume. It was totally mind over matter. I had to figure out how to move huge boulders. My husband helped me using pulleys and wood. It almost didn’t happen. I had a few more injuries but, I finished and the pond was beautiful! Brooke, you are the best inspiration on RUclips. So I’m a 76 year old guy who used to lift weights in a gym and would bicycle about 1,100 miles a year. My wife died 5 years ago and much of that exercising slowly became almost nonexistent. I’ve been resurrecting biking again and using a Bowflex at home along with some free weights.
I’ve watched you off and on with admiration I must say. Rediscovered you after being away for a while.
I’ve already signed up with my email on the Whipple newsletter.

I started watching you and your husband when you were on ALONE. I have always been impressed with what you two do and enjoy your videos.
This video is very inspiring, and I already have a grounding mat that a friend bought for me, and I do watch what I eat but apparently not enough protein. I have gotten bored with my life. I have lived a very good outdoor life and also worked for 45 years as a Paramedic and during that time I also worked off and on full time and part time for 35 years as a whitewater raft guide. I was overweight but I have lost 75 pounds since June 1, 2023, and continue to lose. I have over 27,000 miles of canoeing under my belt and this year I will get back into a canoe. I haven't been in one for almost 6 years. I have decided to get back into sports this coming summer and your video has just boosted my want to do so. Thank you so much! It is what this 71-year-old needed to jumpstart his summer.

When I was 55 I was overweight and out of shape. I joined a gym and ate healthier. In the spring of 2020 I was looking and feeling good and then the world shut down. I am now 59 and back to where I was. This spring I plan on joining the gym again and Lord willing, get back to where I was before. I find I don’t have the motivation to work out at home on my own. Thanks for the video.

I hear ya!! I sometimes feel like I’m losing a step here and there!! I try to stay strong and lifting and moving patients does help. I’m not a very big person…probably 5’5” or so and around 120 and will be 65 in April. My patients look at me like, yea right, you’re going to move me. But I truly feel like moving them helps me stay strong. The cold stuff, it’s a challenge for me, I don’t like being cold. I could try it and see. I need to work on my core. I'm a childhood abuse Survivor and later a Survivor of domestic violence these had their own set of challenges for healing and then Lyme entered my life. I've been learning all I can about various healing modalities and grounding is one of them! I hope to get in the swing of exercising soon. I'm 82 years old and have since my youth had a strong focus on complete fittness. I consequently have long followed healthy eating, with emphasis on a "Macrobiotic" approach. I still workout with iso-metric exercises everyday but Sunday, and have my own weight equipment that I do weight work two or three times a week. In addition I ride my bicycle two or more often three times a week varying rides between as few as 5 or 6 miles,to as much as I 2 to 15 miles . I have blood panels done semi-annualy and my doctor says I'm the first patient he's had in 35 years of practice that he believes will live to one hundred years. Of course I pray he's right because I Love life! AND hunting and fishing has filled the space I have now that I'm retired from my work life. I have three sons 50,47 & 44 years, and thier wives and grandchildren to enjoy life with.
You'll never regret your focus on health and fittness ,body & soul. All the best to you !

Blood tests revealed high cholesterol and I tried every non drug regimen and diet. My cholesterol never went down…then at 45 I had my first heart attack. It changed my life for the worse. Hind sight being 20/20 I should have taken cholesterol reducing meds. At your next blood test, listen to your doctor and if you’re still exhibiting hyperlipidemea, follow his or her orders.

You are so right about losing your rom and muscle as you age. Just 3years ago I was crawling across the floor like a lizard. I chased my grandson and we went all day. He was about 1 years old. Now I can barely lift myself off the floor while gritting my teeth. I did find out I have a gluten allergy though for a while I was told it was fibromyalgia. My joints are stiff all the time. I have another grandson and can barely run after him. I will be 40 this year and I’m at a desk job. It hurts so bad to sit so I also stand, but the joint pain is always present. I would love to watch and follow your class. I know it will help. Thank you for all your inspiration.

Hi Brooke, thank you for this video. My husband and I are 70 (we feel like 50). We are both quite active. When we're in North Carolina (about 5 months of the year) we do a lot of mountain biking, real mountain biking on actual mountains. We've been riding for 20 some years and we just love it. We live in Florida where I continue to bike (flat land) I do quite a bit of walking (which I love) and I also do a session of yoga daily. I'm inspired by your weight lifting and would like to start doing that. We live on 7 acres of land and there is always something to do so we do stay active.

I was in such a miserable state but Im talking openly about it because all too often we have been taught to keep silent about pain, menopause, obstacles. Grounding myself in nature and at home has been life saving. Also being proactive with my labs as women are often dismissed in the system, especially at menopause. Ladies, we got this! It doesnt matter where you live or what you have or how old you are. Brooke, keep this content coming. It's so helpful and inspiring. I restarted my solo time in nature after watching your videos and my daughter joins me outside as well. Thank you.

Appreciate your honesty & personal disclosures Brooke. The 2011 film entitled *Forks Over Knives* changed my life at age 47. Fruits are “nature’s candy” especially the sweeter ones like pineapple, figs, pomegranate, mangos, etc. As a former high school distance runner, college athlete I now find lap swimming & water aerobics to be the best cardio calorie burner. One hour of moving in the water (laps, walking, aerobics) will burn up to 800 calories! Water resistance is fantastic for muscle toning. I also live in cold climate Ohio. Local YMCAs & senior centers offer the best (heated) indoor pool memberships. Love swimming free in clean northern lakes in the summer.

@@richardandreao1332 Eating greens, whole grains & beans 🫘 much better than consuming too much animal protein. I remember when the *Atkins Diet* (that emphasized heavy protein intake) was popular in 2003-2004 for weight loss. And how it could damage human kidneys from protein overload. And caused kidney stones, osteoporosis, gout, and cardiovascular problems. Now two decades later, wild animal protein is back in vogue as the Caveman/Cavewoman solution along with butter, oils & animal fats for Keto programs. My kidneys are thanking me today for healthier plant proteins.

The study in India showing how cancer can be turned on and off like a light switch depending on the amount of animal protein consumed is worth paying attention to! Even Dr. Campbell couldn't believe it, which is why he replicated the study and found the same results, showing that a diet of 20% animal protein promotes cancer growth. Same type of study done at the Univ of IL Medical Center in Chicago had the same results, the development of breast cancer. Conversely, Dr. Campbell's further research proved that nutrients from plant-based foods tumor development. His findings were published in the Journal of the National Cancer Institute. (Dr. Campbell was a professor at MIT, Virginia Tech, and Cornell, and his massive China study was done jointly with Oxford.)

Being strong is very important and necessary, however even more important is being smart, figuring out how you can make less work for yourself and keep yourself safe. Putting safety first forces you to consider options to make the overall job easier. Make no mistake the options of safety will slow down the overall accomplishments in the day, but at the end of the day you have not put yourself in danger. This is even more important when you are working by yourself. Cutting corners always puts one at risk, if you become seriously hurt the extra 3 hours you might have used to stay safe is worth money in the bank compared to being layed up for days with your injury.

Fantastic video!! SO relatable. And so inspiring. I'm 59 and since the age of 48, I've gone through a physical hell of my body "falling apart". From adrenal fatigue, to menopause, ongoing migraines, neck and back issues, hair loss, weight gain, horrible sleep, etc. (yes, there's much more!), and basically a total loss of fitness at this point. This sad state is kind of mind boggling after living a lifetime of high fitness; a long history of backpacking, hiking, skiing, snowshoeing, trail running, cycling, weight lifting and yoga, Pilates and HIIT. It's been a nightmare. I've tried many things along the way; testing & consult with functional medicine docs, cleanses, changes in diet, earthing (yes! love that you talked about this), sauna, breathwork, meditation, energy healing, chiropractic, massage, yoga, and so on. All have helped, but due to a lot of other stresses in the last few years, I've fallen off the wagon and have had a very rough time getting back on. It's really tough when you're in constant pain and so tired. BUT --- one has to have the mental toughness to make a decision that this IS going to change. That's where I am now. I'm recommitted to getting the outside support I need and to really put it all together; everything you talked about has to come into play. It's a total lifestyle and it's a deeply sourced inner commitment to living a full life. I'm looking forward to your subsequent videos and your online classes! 🙂Thank you!!

In listening, you mentioned joint pain. About ten years ago, I did a Food Sensitivity test through a LEAP Program. My joint pain which was extreme was due to excessive eating of tomatoes in my daily diet. They come from the nightshade family which is high in alkaloids. These deposit in the joints causing inflammation like arthritis. I've since eliminated tomatoes from my diet and am joint pain free. I, too do some wood cutting.
