  • Ford Mondeo mk4 front wishbone replacement. Well in this video i replace the driverside/offside wishbone. Well what can I say I thought this one would take to long to change but how wrong was I, lol.
    But with a little patience you can do this one at home on the drive the drive. I would say set a side a morning or a least a few hours and spray some WD40 or release spray on the bolts and allow them to sit for a little while to help loosen them up.

    I did mine not long ago. I found if you put the front bolt in first. It gives you wiggle room for the back two. Then the ball joint last.

    Rear bolts in a real pain in some places written makes us banned.
    Perfectly fun on a Saturday with over torqued 18mm bolts and a worse ball joint in this video.
    Managed to get it off by loosen the nut instead.
    Now I see the light at the end of the tunnel.

    Hi Chazz. Did this job again today on the same side as your video (drivers side)
    It was pretty easy, really helps to remove the CV joint, also the drop link as you've said, and the track rod end, jack the knuckle far and away from the control arm and place the CV joint on top of the brake disc, it moves everything out of your way and loads of space to slot the control arm out and then back in completely straight and level with the subframe, easily got the bush bolts in and threaded, used that same lever tool which is really helpful, then levered down on the arm to locate the ball joint while at the same time attaching the CV splines back into the hub. Tighten everything back up, job done :)

    Great video, done both side on my mondeo estate.i noticed the blue lever you used to pull balljoint down to fit into the steering knuckle. I'm too tight to buy that lol. I got Laser 8530 Suspension Arm & Lever Hook online for £13 and used the lever off the jack. It took a bit more effort but done the job nicely. Keep the videos coming.

    Hi Chazz. I looked at this video before replacing the front lower arms on my 2015 Volvo XC70. Both cars share many platform components as Ford did own Volvo for a while before Geely. However the ball joint to hub carrier design on the Volvo is different, the rest is almost identical. I found the video really helpful and have mentioned it on the Volvo Owners Club forum, I hope the is OK😀👍

    Great work, it is a pig of a job, I find if you jack under the brake disc to bring the hub level with the subframe it will go in easier, its that back bushing that causes the most grief, what you did with the front bushing, ball joint and then back bushing seemed to work well though, well done for doing that on the ground

    • @ChazzCoombes
      @ChazzCoombes  2 года назад +2

      Yeah thats what i ended up doing jacking the hub up abit and slide the rear bush into place. And thanks i do the vids to show that these jobs can be done on the ground and that patience pays of.

      @@ChazzCoombes thanks! Really appreciate you taking the time to film and share this 😃🔧 gives me confidence that I can do this on the ground in my garage 👍 I’m gonna replace the outer rubber boot on my cv joint , do you think I need to remove the wish bone? I’ve bought myself an air tool to get the boot over and on the driveshaft.

    Hi mate, i get a noise from the suspension when i accelerate, but no noise over bumps, would say thats the lower ball joint, and is it easier just to replace the wishbone, ive seen your other video and drilling out the old ball joint rivets seems long

    Need some advice, I have a 2.0tdci estate 07 plate. When accelerating moderately or heavy the car shakes violently, doesn’t shake if pressing the clutch and rolling from accelerating, well start again once depressed and accelerating again. Steering wheel doesn’t shake just the whole car. Under light acceleration it doesn’t shake at all. Any suggestions please
