Anne, I couldn't agree more on SDV! I am from Puerto Rico. I was raised with my grand parents and they grew Vanilla Orchids. I know pure vanilla well and the only perfume to date that reminds me of actual high quality vanilla pods is SDV by Guerlain. Guerlain truly does the best vanilla in perfumery.

This video is very timely. I’ve been on the hunt for a warm, ambery vanilla scent. Bois de Vanille has been on my radar. I love Grand Soir but it’s too masculine on me. I just got a decant of Rosendo Mateu No 5. The opening was a little off putting but as it dries down, ooh! I love it!
I’ve been reaching for my ambers a lot recently as it finally got really chilly! I probably should give Pat my Grand Soir…I never wear it for the same reasons even though it’s beautiful. I love to see content creators show long time loves….Vanilla 28 and SDV are so gorgeous I agree. And that Welton again sounds divine!!❤❤ I forgot you had Ruby N Vanilla Intense. ❤️❤️ they did nail that velvet thing in there. 😄
Yes! Erik's mom is particular about her fragrances, she really gravitates towards amber, warm spices, and patchouli, Ruby N Vanilla Intense was a big hit with her!

Grand Soir is a league of its own. But I can't wear it by itself. I need to layer it. I don't get amber from cuir beluga or Ani. Cuir Beluga fits more in the leather vanilla forward category. Ani is spicy vanilla forward. Everything else are just compositions of fixatives.

I've been kind of all over the place with Althair since trying it haha! At first, I didn't think it was anything special, and then the second or third time I wore it I was HOOKED and wanted a full bottle. Some time passed, I emptied my decant, bought another one, and then felt like it was a bit too much orange blossom for me 😅 So I do think it's a good fragrance but I'm continuing to revisit it
I dont like Grand Soir (there’s a note that’s v prominent to my nose but I dont have the frag literature or understanding to identify which note is rubbing me the wrong way) I LOVE Boise de Vanille, I like (not love) Vanilla 28 but not as much as Boise de Vanille, I like (not love) Ani, it’s a little too spicy (the pepper is not my fave…I love the ginger in it) for me but it’s a scent I enjoy but it depends on my mood. Seriously considering Rosendo Mateaus No. 5…do you think I’d like it?
I’ve seen many comparisons between Akro - Glow and Guerlain - SDV. Having both, would you say they’re similar? I have Glow and love it, but I’ve been wanting to try sdv for a long time!💛
In my opinion, they are notably different. SDV is far more vanilla heavy, and the type of vanilla used is also very different. Glow is much more powdery, more ambery, and to me, SDV smells feminine, Glow unisex. 🧡

Cuir Beluga really does smell heavenly!! 🤤 I will need to try that combo!
