    When spearing the large sturgen fish, I'm guessing the spear kills the fish. Is it legal to kill and keep them? Hell of a fish nice going.

    • @thanoschips4393
      @thanoschips4393 5 лет назад

      Ben Whisenant they either eat the fish or set a new record or something,
      Also you said “I’m guessing the spear kills the fish”
      What do you think the spear does, make it turn into a dragon, make it magically amazing,
      😑

    • @hollyloose5046
      @hollyloose5046 4 года назад

      Ben the Winnebago system has the largest self sustaining lake sturgeon population in the world and is one of the only places that a sturgeon can be spared through the ice. The only other place is black lake in MI. The spearing season on the Winnebago system starts every year on the second Saturday in feb and runs for 16 days or until the harvest caps are met. Harvest caps are set way before the season and once 90 percent of any cap is hit it closes the next day. The spear moat definitely kills the fish and they are very good eating when cleaned/cooked right

    Uncle told me some guys put corn on the bottom is that right?

    • @BIGMLR16
      @BIGMLR16  4 года назад

      Back in th we day when the season wasnt managed as much, yes i have heard of people dumping light colored materials on bottom so the fish would contrast more and or "bait" the fish to come in.

      If you've never been on Winnebago, that's Winnebago for ya. Some years, you can see down 20 feet easy, others you can barely see 5 feet. More often then not, it's cloudy.
