Wow, that was amazing! I`ve done ice-fishing once in my life - I was 13, the ice was 10 cm "thick" - and I enjoyed it very much. That happened in Hungary in the 80`s. This one is a different level in ice fishing and I really would like to try it. Hope, I will be able to organize it. Thanks for this video, loved it.

@@Wild-Siberia Siberia isnt frozen all year, neither is northern Canada. -35 is very common in Canada during winter and we have more uninhabited land than Russia. I’m always shocked and amazed by the size of Russian burbot here in the Midwest United States people can spend their whole lives burbot fishing and never even see a fish of that size
Same in Canada....The largest I have ever caught was 10 lbs, average was 7. The only time I have ever caught burbot was ice fishing while trying to catch lake trout....I'm not sure if a channel cat(Ottawa river) is considered a burbot, if so my cousin caught a 30pounder years ago.
More people fish in North America so we don't give the fish a chance to grow. I can remember seeing huge silver salmon in the PNW but with the growth in population and increased fishing they get smaller every year.
Burbot is so delicious! Here in Finland we also fish it and eat it right now in the winter season. It's easier to catch burbot in the winter because during the summer it dwells in the bottom of the lake and in the winter it's near the surface.
Mr.Larry, Burbot or fresh water cod, or in Minnesota also called both proper Burbot and Eel Pout because of the tail and noise they make spawn in the winter and thus are always bothering walleye and perch fishermen, women, children.

I love this! I live on a smaller lake near Great Slave Lake in the Northwest Territories in Canada, and I fish the same fish and I get my water the same way, with my suv on a ice road. We don’t get burbot quite as big, but I love to get burbot in the winter, the liver is especially tasty. Right now the ice is about 3 feet thick. I keep a line in the lake, but i have a 6 inch piece of styrofoam insulation, about 2 1/2 x 2 1/2 feet, that is covered with plywood. I keep it on top of the hole, and pile snow on top so it stays insulated . Then the next day, i dig it up and the hole is still open. Also, I’ve never seen anyone anchor the fish line like that, only for nets. Makes sense for burbot. When I’m just baiting the fish, I just use a line going straight down from a stick on top of the hole. But if it freezes over you have to be careful and you can’t use the auger just the spear. The fish here are: burbot, trout, pike, white fish, inconnu, pickerel, and arctic grayling.

I found this on Wikipedia: The IGFA recognizes the world-record burbot as caught on Lake Diefenbaker, Saskatchewan, Canada, by Sean Konrad on 27 March 2010. The fish weighed 25 lb 2 oz (11.4 kg).
"The IGFA recognizes the world-record burbot as caught on Lake Diefenbaker, Saskatchewan, Canada, by Sean Konrad on 27 March 2010. The fish weighed 25 lb 2 oz (11.4 kg)." Congrats on a world record apparently
They probably weighed it frozen. Many records also require a weight difference greater than a certain threshold to be considered for a new world record.
@@Bazilli You are right. And maybe some extra weight since its body fluids are probably frozen with it. Unfrozen we usually rip out its gills and then it bleeds pisses, and shits itself. Someone going for a record would probably put it into a live well instead to avoid that.

Bu arada çok tatlısın :)
I found this on Wikipedia: The IGFA recognizes the world-record burbot as caught on Lake Diefenbaker, Saskatchewan, Canada, by Sean Konrad on 27 March 2010. The fish weighed 25 lb 2 oz (11.4 kg).
Пфф мы таких мальков каждый день ловим
"The IGFA recognizes the world-record burbot as caught on Lake Diefenbaker, Saskatchewan, Canada, by Sean Konrad on 27 March 2010. The fish weighed 25 lb 2 oz (11.4 kg)." Congrats on a world record apparently
They probably weighed it frozen. Many records also require a weight difference greater than a certain threshold to be considered for a new world record.
the IGFA world record is not a good representation as its costly and tricky and goes against alot of modern rules/respect we have for nature
@@genesises How does IGFA go against modern rules/respect for nature?
It'd weigh the same regardless of it being frozen. Maybe it'd have a very small amount of extra weight from snow that stuck to it.
@@Bazilli You are right. And maybe some extra weight since its body fluids are probably frozen with it. Unfrozen we usually rip out its gills and then it bleeds pisses, and shits itself. Someone going for a record would probably put it into a live well instead to avoid that.
