they were such a great match. I can't even tell you how much I cried during the movies. they were true goals. the only wish I have is that someone will one day love me they way Gilbert loved Anne. so beautiful.

Johnathan Crombie is by far the best and will always be the best Gilbert there is. Terrible loss, he was so genuine and so real, not to mention an amazing actor.
He was so handsome, wonderful actor he was born to play Gilbert. Growing up he was my childhood crush, he was so dreamy. The love story between Anne and Gilbert is still one of my all time favourites. RIP Jonathan Crombie you are truly missed ♥️

Oh I agree. My daughter and I watched the Green Gables and Road To Avonlea series when she was younger; and I so hoped she'd find someone just like Gilbert. I think he was every mother's dream for their daughters, it seems they loved him too, as you said, "So sad".
C. Middleton I watched the programs with my daughter as well. When we bought the VHS tapes, they became sick day and snow day binge viewing. Years later when she left for college I spend the first two weeks watching the DVDs to get me through it. She surprised me on her wedding day by walking down the aisle to 'Anne's Theme'. I still watch the DVDs. I am heartbroken for his family, so very young
Kathleen Schwarzkopf Now I'm convinced we Mothers all felt and did the same thing. I think the music would be perfect; what good taste your daughter has. I felt so sorry for his sister riding the bus back to Toronto w/ his ashes, what a hard trip to make. I'm convinced that Jonathan would be so taken aback by the outpouring of affection everyone has expressed on this site and throughout the internet. Thank goodness we still have our DVD's.
C. Middleton I'm sure his family was touched by the AOGG's fans response to his death. The movies are classics that will be enjoyed by generations! It's still hard to believe the 1st generation of fans and cast are now middle aged, time really is a thief!

It's impossible to forget such a person especially his role as Gilbert so yes it's totally possible to fall in love with him again and again. He's immortalized in his role as Gilbert and other movies.
I read an interview that his sister gave,and she said that unlike a lot of actors who tend to want to hide their first leading role it was the opposite with Jonathan..He wouldn't even think about correcting one of us now middle aged fans that might have came rushing up to him and with our total adoration for him accidentally call him Gil..He would just take it all in stride ,and talk to his cherished fan.She said that it had happened on more than one occasion. He loved that he was able to bring such happiness in peoples lives, and a genuine quality to the character of Gilbert Blythe that will never be forgotten by his beloved fans..
