    Hey Action Xander,
Didn’t realized you had a channel but subbed!
For pricing, I mentioned this in another review. DJI tried to be like Apple and priced A2 at $519 and got crushed. They didn’t sell as much and then when they reduced to $359, they sold more. This is more the reason that they priced at $329 as the “sweet spot entry pricing.” It’s essentially a repackaged A2 with better thermals. If you don’t do underwater sports, A2 owners don’t need to upgrade. If DJI gives A3 10-bit, they better give A2 owners the upgrade too as they paid more. Or have some pissed off customers.
GP is doing GP. Pricing stays consistently same or up a little. GP did the same mistake with the pricing of their 360 before GP Max and had to reprice or reduce it.
FYI, as an existing subscriber of GP, they allow you to buy it at $399 without cancelling the sub and rebuying it. Finally as their customers were doing it anyways. This way it removes the hassle for both sides.
Back to pricing, it depends on the below:
    - 8 vs 10-bit? How much is that worth
    - better DR? How much is that worth
    - 360 horizon lock in all modes except 4k120, 2.7k240, 1080 120/240 but only on linear lens mode. This takes away the need to buy the Max Mod which cost $70 and a hassle to take on and off. How much is that worth?
For me, when you compare apples-2-apples, then it’s pretty much the same (give and take) so it comes more what you mentioned in the video and comments:
    - your use cases; and
    - your budget; and
    - what you prioritize:
GP11 for better IQ (10bit now and better DR), full framing with loss of IQ, reframing in post (later update), 360 horizon lock in lots or modes, higher resolution in both stills and videos, reusing accessories from GP9/10, customizable with their lab controls (I don’t use this much but know others love it), etc etc
A3 if you want fast charging case (battery is pretty much same so I would like to see apples-4-apples comparison as it’s 1,770mAh vs 1,720mAh Enduro), better thermal heat mgmt, dual touchscreens, better low light, better UI/UX, convenient quick release magnetic design, more pleasing colors (personal taste), etc etc

I'm so happy you stopped by and you're supporting my channel! Absolutely love your expertise and always look forward to your input! Appreciate that backstory regarding the DJI price point! I had no idea they initially tried to price themselves so high much like Apple. Good point on offering 10-bit for Action 2 owners! I'd imagine they should try to help out that base especially since they've paid the most since release like you said.
This was a little bit of a tough comparison like you said. They're not exactly apples to apples. I feel GoPro has a more professional offering with their camera vs DJI that focused mostly on the convenience and reliability factors.
I will say too, the GP11 offers so much now that it feels like accessories like the Max Lens mod are almost useless?

    • @nomad0714
      @nomad0714 2 года назад

@@ActionXander, happy to support your channel and see you grow.
On the Max Mod, yeah not sure as GP11, what it offers except a wider view than the linear view but if it limits 360 horizon lock to only 2.7k, then it’s no use.
One thing I forgot to mention that it seems no YT mention is the display mod with a micro HDMI port and cable. I actually used this on my older A6600 and other Sony mirrorless cams. Not the best but it works. You will need an extension cable adapter on Amazon as the one that comes with it is short. I’ll check on Monday but I believe when you have it plugged into the Media Mod and GP9/10/11, when you hit record, it doesn’t turn off (will double confirm shortly) and when you need to use the back screen as it turns off when using the display mod, just click on the power button of the display mod and the back screen comes back on. Useful at certain times.

@@nomad0714 you're the best, seriously! Yeah it feels that GoPro comes out with some innovative accessories/support and then... Forgets about them? Just strange to see them leave the Max 2 in the dust and now innovate the GP11 to the point where other accessories like the Max lens mod are almost obsolete? Do let us know! I'm curious as I've never used the Media Mod before.

    • @nomad0714
      @nomad0714 2 года назад

      @@ActionXander,
Okay I dig into my accessory pile (😂) and found the Max Mod. For GP10, you had to wait for an update for it to work. For GP11, it worked right off the bat. But having said that, it’s still limited to 1080 or 2.7K 4:3 24/25/50 (I’m in PAL region) with Superview and horizon lock. So yeah, basically, Max Mod is already built into GP11 as Hyperview and horizon lock is applied to most shooting modes except 4K120, 2.7K240, 1080 120/240. At least you can subtract $79 from the $399 GP11 price.
And for when you record and the screen turns off on smartphone Quick app, it still does that. Just use the GP front or back screens as it stays on when recording.

Just a note for those wondering about all the features of the HERO11 (and in most cases the 10 & 9), with Labs firmware your camera can do (and you can do to it) much more than it’s advertised on the box and what’s in the user manual.
Most importantly, it’s actually very easy to use, especially with the QRControl mobile app (Android & iOS).
With Labs firmware installed you not only get all the goodness of the latest general release firmware, you also get:
    200 Mbps recording
    Motion detection recording
    Speed detection recording
    Audio decibel (noise) detection recording
    Global tone mapping On/Off
    Local tone mapping On/Off
    Global and Local tone mapping
    Max shutter angle control
    Exposure damping control
Extra long (days) time lapse on one battery
    GPS time synchronization
    USB power trigger
    Burn in overlays
    Custom file naming
    12GB file length chaptering
    GPS synced Sunrise/Sunset recording
    Time code support via LTC
Auto generated Adobe style proxy files
    On screen histogram
    Burn in lap times
    Luma sweep
    Embed personal logo into video
Control length of Hindsight timeout (instead of default 15 minutes)
    Increase digital gain of audio
    Clean monitoring without overlays
Mute one or more channels of audio
True 24.0 (Cinema) frame rate (instead of broadcast 23.976)
Increased write frequency for higher precion file recoveries
Alternative exposure controls ........ and more.

Wondering if the dji action 3 will get more dynamic range with that 10bit firmware update. If it could get out more details from for example the sky and clouds, then I would lean towards the dji action 3. At the moment the gopro get an edge because of the image details it catches, but I'm still considering the DJI action 3, because of the magnet system and the convenience of the external microphones. One thing. Those attachable wind muffs that goes instead of the mediamod, gets pretty decent sound and in a way a more simple method than external mics. If I'll go for gopro I'll probably go for them, because I dont like the convenience and form factor of the mediamod
