@@dhax8430In the United States, the average annual inflation rate from 2005 to 2021 was around 2% to 3%. In the early 2000s, mid-range graphics cards typically cost between $100 to $300 USD, while high-end models could range from $300 to $600 or more. As of January 2022, prices for newer graphics cards, particularly those featuring advanced technologies like ray tracing and AI acceleration, tended to be higher, with some flagship models costing $500 to $1000 or more. The performance is much greater than a 970 so to say. Prices are up for everything in the US, GPUs have gone up as well. The time for people to not buy is gone, everyone bought during 30 series release, scalped and overpriced. People are willing to pay it, so that's the price now. Like it or hate it. Have to pay to play when you have only 2 choices.

One thing to keep in mind with cards that run lowish on VRAM, is that features like Raytracing DLSS and Frame Generation can consume quite a bit extra and right now the driver software and most games really don't communicate it when those features overload your memory.
You may have plenty of headroom on High preset without raytracing, but when you turn on RT you'll feel the need for Frame Gen and Upscaling to negate the performance impact and then suddenly you also need to drop texture quality a lot or some games will just randomly crash (i.e. Hogwarts Legacy even now).
Hope this will get reigned in with new Direct X extensions to cover framegen and driver improvements and to have a baseline framegen tech all modern cards can fall back to (kind like how FSR2 is really common now).

If you're looking for Sub-$200 Nvidia graphics card, don't. They haven't cared to take that market back in years and years now. AMD's the best show in town. Hopefully Intel continues to improve value and driver support. That said, 6600, not too shabby! You can do a lot with it, even some introductory 1440p. I used to be able to recommend the 1660 Super, but at this point it makes zero sense, even if it was still $200. 6600 smashes it in every way.

Id argue if youre in the market for a sub $200 GPU, dont. Buy a PS5, or bite the bullet and buy used and take advantage of Ebay’s generous return policy and spend the first week testing as many games as you can to see if the GPU has any issues. Had a used 6700XT that had some big issues in DX12 games. I mean DX12 runs like shit in general but that thing would freeze and stutter hard as hell whenever new assets loaded in for the first time in anything DX12 related. And i know it was DX12 cause any game that gave me an option to use DX11, Vulkan, etc ran fine. My guess is vram was damaged due to mining even though 6700XTs sucked at mining.
Eitherway, its like buying a good used car used car you can afford vs buying the cheapest new car you can afford. Its 100 percent not worth and youre not spending enough anyways where the longevity and security you get from something new would matter.

It was an open-box special from Newegg but I haven't seen any more at that price point since. I'm not a brand-wh0re and I don't care about RGB so I usually just go with XFX cards but this is a very nicely lit-up ASRock Phantom Gaming model and I have to admit that it's quite pretty.

With prices still at crazy levels (and even price jump of chinese 6600m boards) I still think an undervolted/underclocked 5700xt is hard to beat for a best value system, and they run great on pcie 3.0 with full x16 and 256bit bus width. t's actually quite simple in regard to intel vs AMD. At least for the gaming.
If you are in the market for a "60" for intel or a "600/650" series card, it doesn't matter. You get whichever one performs better in the games that you play at the moment and are interested in playing in the future. RT is a non factor, and just a bonus for any games that may run okay with it on, but that tier of card is not meant for use with RT in mind. FSR is VERY close to DLSS in visual quality, escpecially at 1440p or higher resolutions.
if you are in the market for a "70" for nvidia, or a "700/750" series card, and you value the single player experience more than the E-sports experience you have a choice to make. Higher res textures or better rat tracing, but in this tier, considering the RT performance really isn't anything special (excluding the 4070 which has a decent amount of VRAM and also has pretty good RT perofrmance, but it's pretty much a 12GB 3080 with better RT and had a price drop recently, so it's kind of an outlier) you are much better going off with AMD, because they give more vram and allow you to bump those textures up to ultra, which in certain games, for example red dead redemption 2, anything other than ultra textures yields a SIGNIFICANT degredation of visual fidelity, but with ultra textures and lower settings, the game looks stunning especially following the Hardware unboxed optimized settings video and if you value the E-sports experience, go with AMD. Once again, more VRAM allowing for higher res textures and usually lead in fps per dollar by a decent margin.
For the "80/90" with nvidia or the "800/900" cards well, the 4090 has no competitor and the the 7900XTX is WAY closer to a 4080 super to even make it a consideration becuse of the lack of a feature set but for the 30 series, if you can find it, the 3080 is pretty similar in performance to a 6800XT with MUCH better RT performance (I use a 3080 because my 6800XT died on me but it was an old dell oem version so it was bound to happen lol but I personally know the performance of both cards in a non bottlenecked system at 1080p, 1440p and 4k) but less VRAM, which MIGHT matter in the future for 1440p gaming.
Also, this part is very simple. Don't buy a card that's a 1440p tier card (6800XT/3080+) if you have no plans to grab a 1440p monitor/use your 4k very often. even the 60/600 cards perform very well at 1080, no need to go overboard and start bottlecking your system lol.

Interesting that my RX 6600 shows still up. On Amazon it hovers allways between 199 and 229 USD around where my Asus Dual costs now more with 229$ than I paid for it 2 years ago (210 USD).
Last year I bought the RX 6750 XT for the other tower (XFX Qick model) and it works.
It is true that you should chose just 1 or 2 games (I play just Enlisted occasionally) and chose your GPU for that game. So the RX 6600 will do it perfectly although on High the VRAM starts to hit already 6 GB on that game regularly. I am pretty sure the RX 6600 will run Enlisted still in 10 years when reducing settings or use Frame Generation (with Frame Generation the RX 6600 does 250 fps on High settings, card is undervolted and on PCIE 3 board). So for that combination the RX 6600 is plenty still for 10 years to come.
If you have an 4090 or something that card would last you for Enlisted as game still for about 20 years to come. My RX 6750 XT does on High on Enlisted with Frame Generations on around 350 fps, undervolted heavily.

On PC part picker, 6000 series cards are either showing as unavailable (no price options) or significantly more expensive than 7000 series cards. 6800s are going for over $600. I thinki it's time to move on and stop recing 6000 series, especially since they seem to be higher draw, higher temp, and higher fan speed cards, too.
What really torques me right now is there's no 7700xt with 16gb vram. 7700, 7800, and 7900gre are all proportional price to framerate from what I've seen, being at $400, $480, and $550, respectively. But for 1440p, does that mean you save money and go with the 7700xt with 12gb and possibly lose out later, or spend the extra 150 and get the 7900gre with 16gb and be slightly more future proofed for higher vram usage?
But at the same time, my CPU (R5 2600) is also in line to be upgraded... So on games like Helldivers 2, would my initial thoughts of an R5 5600 become the bottleneck for the 7900gre, and I should spring for the 5800x3d at literally TWICE the price (since the 5600x3d is apparently also absent the market) or should I just pair it with the lower spec 7700xt and save cash on both ends?

RTX 3050 6 GB might be the best option when needing a RTX (tensor) card for HTPC/TV use with 2x HDMI 2.1 with VRR support. Super special use case, but this can be a great deal + no 8 pin required. Insanely low power, silent GPU that can do basic auto AI upscaling for streams, and low bitrate video content. Not at highest level, but surely beats Nvidia Shield Pro scaling from 2019. The next GPU level I would be willing to go is the 4060 8 GB, but it's way more expensive. Better GPU in every way, but for just video content, the 3050 will do more than fine.
I personally require 24/7 tiny PC that can output 4k/120Hz for living room + bedroom TV's and Atmos systems. At, about 200€ price point, not a bad GPU for videos. But for gaming, it sucks big time.

The one thing that makes me love the RTX 3050 6GB is that its 70W and not 115W like the RTX 4060 , Yes 2GB less Vram but Im very restricted on Electric Bills since the price went up here in the seychelles and its still going to go up so building a system that uses under 200W is a big go to for me - Ryzen 5 3600 and 32GB of Ram :D oh and the RTX 3050 6GB is cheaper $190 for me than the RX 6600 $230 (Plus shipping since its around $20 to $30 DHL )

@danielowentech hey there, i am wondering if you think the 7900xtx will be just as good a purchase right now as the 4080 super due to the FSR 3.1 being released, the image quality you keep mentioning should be far better then it was with FSR 2.0 , i would like for you to take that in to your consideration when comparing the two gpu´s , yes i am aware that the 7900xtx does not have the same level of Raytracing, but i am thinking that perhaps it could be good enough that the raise in price for the 4080 super does not warrent the price increase. what do you think Daniel ? , and what abotu the future prospects for both gpu´s Nvidia has their bragging about the 5000 series cards, but i personally dont feel like waiting for several months to purchase my next gpu since im building a system right now , well as soon as i have made a choice in terms of what GPU to get around the 900-1000 dollar price range, im also thinking that perhaps AMD is going to release their tech much faster both in terms of drivers, AI and FSR 3.1 , all that in combination with each other might be a better choice, however i am thinking about this non stop trying to decide and researching, wathcing video´s like yours , yet have not come to a conclusion, what would your suggestion be?

There needs to be better/more affordable options for people with no external power. Right now i'm there. I have a decent CPU the i7-8700 but I can't get a better GPU and my current does not have a 6/8 pin connector. The only option I have is to upgrade my motherboard. In which case I'm looking 70-100 off of the GPU spending for that

Very informative and great advice. Shame someone is constantly stamping every step as they go up and down the stairs or whatever that background noise is at 18 mins or so.

7900xtx is better in some games than the 4080 Super. I play Warzone and I get similar FPS at 4K as compared to the 4090 with a 7900xtx.

Consider the 6650xt over the 6600 if you're living in the UK. It's £30 more expensive whilst giving 25% more performance (according to TechPowerUp)

So I have an issue with upgrading to a 4070 Super. I lean towards the 7900 GRE because it has 4 more GB of Vram than my current rtx3060. should that really matter to me? the 4070 super only has 12 gb. I'm not sure if I care that much about ray tracing since in my opinion were just not there in full enough force with ray tracing performance when it comes to cards at the 5-600 dollar range. Sometimes I'm even shocked to see how bad RT can bring a HIGH end card to its knees. All that being said no I don't care too much about RT. I really just want to be able to match my monitors 144 hz refresh rate (or as close as I can get in some titles) while having some awesome looking graphics while running native 1440p. Lately your videos have had me highly considering the 7900 gre, I think it's the right card for me.

    So I have a Ryzen 5 3600 and a GeForce 2060 6gb.
It works for me, excellent at playing PC games, which is what I use it for.
But I wanna upgrade to a Ryzen 9 5700x and a Radeon 7800xt for more speed and power.
    Awesome combo?

I have Nvidia just for power efficienty and software compativility but their prices are not the best. Find the 4060 ti 16gb for 400usd and though it was a good deal.
