The red state murder rate was 33% higher than the blue state murder rate in both 2021 and 2022.
After three years of record homicides in Milwaukee, killings dropped last year and continue to fall this year.

How are we measuring crime? What is considered a crime? For example, shoplifting is no longer prosecuted as a crime, yet many Americans still consider shoplifting to be a crime and a punishable infraction, but technically it’s no longer a crime. When you legalize a bunch of stuff that was formerly illegal, then yes, “crime has been going down.”
