I use the whole array of golem somewhat often. I don't necessarily use the word "golem" when describing them, to avoid the metagaming a little, and I always ensure that there's a source of whatever damage type heals them available. I usually introduce the party to a grapple and drag combat this way. It's terrifying for a party member to feel stuck in a damaging situation, and they're likely to not notice the golem healing itself at the same time.
I used two of these in a room that had fireball traps in it. So the party had to fight them, avoid the traps and get through the room. It was an interesting encounter

Excellent strategy. I also do not specifically state what it is, to avoid meta-gaming.
