I used to work at amerijet.. and I can honestly say the ppl there had some amazing talent.. Pilots and mechanics... the workers never got the credit they deserved.. the workers were put into some impossible situations.
Holy crap, that is a short runway. Landing is on it is one thing. I`m surprised theres enough runway to take off. When that plane lands in trinidad it takes up alot of runway.
@littlebitch231 im not a pilot, just a simple enthusiast . But i guess that you would favor any difficult approach over an easy one due to winds, and more in a short runway like this one.
Maybe a 727 pilot can comment, but I believe that they are able to bring the speed down to roughly 120 knots (but they likely kept it closer to 130, I would expect). The 727's wing configuration is superb for shorter runways.
@amillionztarz Not really..Air Traffic Controllers DONT fly your plane! And BY THE WAY, you can only receive vectors if you have there is radar. There is no radar coverage for this airport in Dominica. And depending on where you are, you don't always have the luxury of being vectored straight in. Instead you can be steered directly to the airport but have to enter the traffic pattern, or a different visual maneuver, to land.
keep cutting the pay of these great pilots and see what happens. they are gonna put some scabs in that cockpit who dont have the experience and wonder why they had an accident.
@amillionztarz actually it is a visual approach. Dominica does not have ILS facilities on their approaches. Also, instruments do nothing but provide data, which the autopilot uses then to control the aircraft. Please do a bit of research before typing such ignorant statements. These pilots are pretty darn amazing for landing a 727 on such a short runway on a challenging approach. Stop trying to take away the fact that this is hard landing in a 727.
I'm a pilot, so here we go. You say that the people in the control tower should be thanked for giving THESE pilots "these good landings" but there is no radar in Dominica and the approach is flown by the pilots. All the tower is telling them is how to enter the traffic pattern, landing clearance and maybe separation. Also, there are tens of thousands of airports in the world that DONT have air traffic control towers, and pilots still manage to have "good landings" hmm... weird?
i didnt know a plane this big could land at the tiney airport of melville hall. wow amazing ! koodos to the pilots.
Yes, the pilots performed flawless, but the 727 also, it's a TERRIFIC airplane... amazing versatility.
Nice landing there wow! Are they going to extend the runaway there in Melvin hall? I see alot of open area now. Can someone tell me?
talk about a short field landing, that was nicely done.
thanks for posting this video!!!

Landing a 727 on a short runway like this take a lots of scales middel in the mountain & Trees... Dahm you guys are good
Looks like fun.
Wow this takes skill.

Great skills!
Wow! nice landing !
oh correction Melville hall.
cant wait to do this for a living
Levan Scantlebury So, how are you now?
Are you a professional pilot now?
Professionals at work.

does anyone know what the approach speed would be for that small of a strip with 727?

WHAT ABOUT THAT JET LADING IN ST VINCENT?? NOW THATS A TASK
It use to happen
But now at the international airport Ameri jet got a bigger plane to land there
Amazing approach, I'd feel a little intimidated taking our citation into there! Good luck guys, enjoyed meeting everyone in Miami.

Great
can a Falcon X7 land at this airport

You are simply amazing. I know the area very well because I was born there. It's no JFK.
wouldnt it be a little easier approaching from the water side?
littlebitch231 Yes but that would mean a tail wind landing which is dangerous of itself plus more dangerous with the short runway.
are you training to land there or??
Nice!!!

@antiguawars Jets don't land in St.Barts
Grab those reversers quick or you gonna die.
wow, flying so low between does mountains and landing on a very short runway
