I absolutley fell in love with it, mained GS before it even had a charge attack it was just a Beeg sword😂. Would definitley struggle going back to that now after sinking 1000s of hours into MHW and Rise, i love both but prefer Rise too
@@gokuformanvsfoodI think Freedom came out in 2005 or else I’m going insane remembering playing it in class in grade 7. Good times. I miss waving to the balloon person 😔
I remember the first time i played Freedom Unite i thought it was on average difficulty. 10+ years later I breezed through both Sunbreak & Iceborne, and when i tried going back to FU somehow I feel like i had a much harder time beating. I realized I got spoiled too much by good hitbox and mobility.
And then there the first MH game veteran like me who's vibing and having fun through all of the MH games because we couldn't careless about anything because we've seen worse lol
As someone who played the Freedom Unite on PSP back in the day, moved with the 3DS and was enthusiastic about World, I have to admit: World had a lot of mechanics that made the game a lot easier than their counterparts. Still, I like the maps of World because they are so freaking big and complex I get lost like a moron, and for some reason, I like that!
Yeah I started with FU too, I played every games since then (even the two stories opus). And yeah the games are easier now but in a good way. World brought so much QoL improvements, and Rise/Sunbreak brought even more. Now MH is much easier but still extremly technical and fun. Sure you cart less, but at least you don't cart for BS reasons anymore, and you can get back in action faster with all the traversals mechanics. Even as a old school player I like that the game is much more streamlined.
@@sludgewave4786 half the reason is because the games are running on newer engines and better hardware so they arent limited by what was used for older MH games. Somehow it still shocks people that newer games arent designed like or play like early to mid 2000s games (and the fact that having thousands of hours in the other titles makes playing subsequent ones easier lol)
@@Orapac4142 For sure, no more limitations. Plus gamedesign evolved with time. Especially ARPG evolved a lot lately. Streamlining their mechanic. We will not see a newer A-RPG using the analog stick to attack, like it was in the first MH.

I’m so sad I never gave monster hunter a go when I was a little kid, I missed out on so much. Started around 2019 in world and it was the best decision in my gaming career to buy it.
I started on tri but honestly its a really wierd mh game. A bit like dos theres a lot of quirky stuff. I mean I love it but it is awkward. Like what other monster hunter game has a medium bowgun.
Started with Freedom and Tri. This is accurate. Although Rise is fun as all heck. Love zooming around and feeling like an anime character. Making the game faster was a great decision imo.
Nah game is speedrun mode. Needs to return to on the ground travel. Tracking and Hunting utilizing tons of tools for strategy and approach. Rise should be the final game of its kind. Every wep feels like IG/LS.
You know at this point i rather have a Second MH Frontier because, man they do not need to limit themselves with Frontier. Can you imagine a Hunter Style with Silkbind Skill and you know the Ability to RUN? that's fast, and fun, makes me felt like playing Devil May Cry but it's Monster Hunter instead.
Love the fact that "healing while moving" is soft when half the mfs who played the older games just ran to another zone to heal lol. All the games are fine I played 4 a bit when I was younger but World was really good (minus the cutscenes/story). I hope Wilds has a more World like combat design cause the wirebug just felt like clutchclaw on crack.
I welcome the majority of the quality of life changes. I don’t even mind the games getting easier. I just really miss the old lobby systems that encouraged people to stay in groups and take turns doing each other’s quests. People actually chatted with each other back in the day. We made so many friends. Nowadays, with the drop-in drop-out joining mechanic, it’s all about getting the items you need as fast as possible. No one sticks around anymore. No one does a quest they don’t need in order to help a lobby mate. No one talks. Even though there’s always people around, you feel alone. I’ll always hold those memories of making friends on MH1 and TriU as some of my best experiences in gaming.
I recently went back to iceborne to finish getting some kulve weapons for IG and then maybe beating the final released monsters (- Safi) But before iceborne released, I enjoyed just helping out other players when they were just getting started, but I do agree with the people don't talk as much thing even if I started out in World
@@cardnal44 I imagine it’s hard to give a proper picture of how things used to be. I mainly played the console releases, so MH1, Tri, TriU, World, Rise. My buddy says the portable releases weren’t as friendly. That being said though, some days I’d literally be in a single lobby for 10 hours, mostly with the same friends I’d met on that very game. We’d even stop to take lunch and such while just afk together, come back and start questing again. My friends list was so full I had to “appear offline” some nights just to be left alone when I was feeling anti-social. I met friends that would carry over to other games too. Since playing Worlds and Rise, I haven’t met a single new friend in game that I’d group up to play with more than a few times. All my play groups were either personal friends from outside the game or randoms. I know there’s a lot of factors, like I don’t have the time I used to when I was a kid anymore, I’m older, more tired, but it was just such a different atmosphere in the old lobby system. I wish you could’ve experienced it.
I can wholeheartedly agree. I am still doing it like the old days. Opening a lobby, do my hunts, waiting for people to join. But ever since we got the S.O.S. system, communication has...died. This feeling of getting aquainted with completely new people, chatting and learning from another is completely gone. That was what made my experiences in Tri and 3U when so unique. I had yet to find a game that gave me that same experience and I can't say I did. I love World and Rise. They both do very well and are a lot of fun. But I miss this the interactions with my fellow hunters.
I grew up with freedom unite starting around the age of eight. Took a break from mh until World came out. The difficulty levels between the two games is astronomical. I completely get this reference to people like my friends who just started on rise after I introduced them to Generations Ultimate 🤣
Ah, Monster Hunter Generations... I have war flashbacks of the clusterfuck that is the Deviljho, Tigrex, and Nargacuga arena quest *I still haven’t beaten it*
Started with 4U, played each one that came out since and dabbled a tiny bit in FU and 3U but not enough to really know the games. I’m lowkey afraid to go back to previous gens because I know Rise and World pampered me. I loved the heck out of them though.
If you started with Gen 4, I think you have it in you to go back. It's similar enough to the classic titles to prepare you for the whiplash of being surrounded by more simple mechanics. I did it with Gen 3, loved it even if I would die before I willing did anything Quest related underwater.
with 4U you´re just at the edge between old and new gen. One of the things you mainly have to keep in mind is that monster hitboxes can be utter wank at times. Also your palicos arent going to be much of a back up. It´s all up to you most of the time.
Been playing since the first game on PS2, and it's funny how every generation people pretend the new hunters are babies because the games are easier. Of course they're easier, Capcom keeps making them less clunky. Ya'll wanna go back to the days of controlling your weapon with the right stick and green sharpness being the max?
At first I thought the real punchline gonna be MH Riders, since it was objectively the only bad MH game in the entire franchise, and everyone would shit over it no problem, but guess this works too lol. Also Riders & Rise got same initial. So it's interesting how in the last year, the fans hates MHR, now jump to 2021, and everyone loves MHR.
And then you have me-a veteran that has been playing since the first game on PS2 and could solo everything Unite had to offer-who prefers Worldborne over every other entry in the series
Honestly worldborne kinda makes me feel bad at times. back in the old games the monsters attacked you on sight so it was just kill or be killed. In world they more often than not just roar at you once or not even aknowledge you´re there. makes me feel bad to just rush at them with weapon in hand xD
@@Psychoangel-d23 I totally understand that, and it’s actually something I love about the game feeling so much more alive. It really makes you stop and question your actions sometimes
Whut ?! That's pretty accurate ahahaha. Classic MH players were also in rise sunbreak and we enjoyed the game like the old days - especially sunbreak is like giving us a combination of MHGU. There are probably more new players in world because that's where more people started complaining about a lot of things that we classic players actually don't mind that much since we came from the portable or handheld performance and visuals. World graphics and being on home console and PC brought the game more into the mainstream. MH was always trying to explore gameplay and doing lots of experimental mechanics and that's not surprising for Rise Sunbreak unless you only played world. And the hunting time was still average same as other older titles so it's not harder, it's still very balanced in difficulty.
>Freedom unite for ios deep cut mmmhmmm Side note: I’m surprised Peace walker wasn’t in there considering it had a control style that’s lifted from the psp games…but then again if we included a minor _cameo_ any old one will do, we’d be here all day
I was introduced to the series much later, in World, but it was Rise that really got me addicted. I watch videos from the previous ones, and yeah, I totally get it. You guys had it hard, you were legends! And thank god the game is much easier now, lmao 😂
@RonaKurona a bit more monotonous and clunkier due to hardware and engine limitations. People acting shocked that the games handling evolved passed clicking right stick to attack.

I am a baby hunter (my first MH game was Rise) but honestly? I'm just happy to get to join other Hunters, old & new alike. :) Any fellow S&S mains here?
World is the 2nd game I've played and I have to say I honestly don't feel like this is accurate..... considering I uninstalled rise after hearing that song for 3 times....what bigged me most wasn't the song IT WAS THE FACT THAT ALL THEY FED ME WAS SWEETS!!!! WTF IS MY MEAT!!!!
>Siege fight >Siege fight >Final Fantasy party gimmick those are not quests balanced to be played alone even if they were given 1p scaling post-launch. no shame in not clearing that it's janky Special Investigation Risen Shagaru Magala *is* hard as nails, but still meant to be beaten on your own if you choose to. the difference between hard fights not balanced properly and hard fights balanced well.
Honestly I prefer the MHW ones there was a lot of personality between the 2 chefs and it was always a pretty good bop (mostly cuz you got brainwashed by it after the 1 millionth time hearing it)
I played mhfu, mh (only a bit), mh3rd, mhw and iceborn. The best is the last 2. The hardest is mhfu, but it was good, played when i was a child. The hitbox are very bad (mhfu) and get too high damage from monsters. Literally weeks for beat some monsters... A game need to be balanced, not too easy not too hard. I'm waiting for next mh on pc. Not rise, it is for switch, the pc version is the same, i want another better than mhw, only for pc and console.
I started with mh on ps2 since ps2 was like a gold mine when it comes to games that’s where I started and been playing whatever entry I could get my hands on ever since but those who are able to play a game like monster hunter on DS is a different breed
Right? Hopefully wilds tops it, looks like it's on track but it can still flop. I'm excited nonetheless. I don't like to beat on rise but rise defenders sound so ignorant to me half the time. Like man, it feels like you're swinging around a paper mache weapon no matter what type you choose, and all of the maps are atrociously bland like they were made in roblox studio, but they'll happily act like their game is superior in every way. There's valid criticism of world, but most of it is minor complaints like clutch claw and mantles (dont use them. If the game is too difficult without them, then it's not making the game as easy as you say it does. Its just veterans talking nonsense), unskippable cutscenes are annoying but most people only make one character so there would be no point in skipping the cool monster reveals, and zorah magdaros is a terrible fight (yeah, 2 fights out of the 100+ hours of gameplay). Only valid critique of world is TERRIBLE multiplayer, it's unbelievably annoying to play the campaign in multiplayer, and that's where the majority of content is.
If you think you need to upgrade your pc for Rise, you shouldn't try to run World on it. Rise is a Switch port, it is designed to not require a lot of power. World is meant for pc/xbox/playstation, the graphics are a bit more demanding.

Immersion.
@@Orapac4142
For sure, no more limitations. Plus gamedesign evolved with time. Especially ARPG evolved a lot lately. Streamlining their mechanic. We will not see a newer A-RPG using the analog stick to attack, like it was in the first MH.

I recently went back to iceborne to finish getting some kulve weapons for IG and then maybe beating the final released monsters (- Safi)
But before iceborne released, I enjoyed just helping out other players when they were just getting started, but I do agree with the people don't talk as much thing even if I started out in World
@@cardnal44 I imagine it’s hard to give a proper picture of how things used to be.
Most of those so called changes aren’t quality of life.
You say this now, but the moment a rajang gets a hold of a great wire bug, you will be singing a different toon.
True men know that all of them are good
Played World, went to 4 Ultimate, now to Rise, can't wait for Wilds
I grew up with freedom unite starting around the age of eight. Took a break from mh until World came out. The difficulty levels between the two games is astronomical. I completely get this reference to people like my friends who just started on rise after I introduced them to Generations Ultimate 🤣
Ah, Monster Hunter Generations...
I have war flashbacks of the clusterfuck that is the Deviljho, Tigrex, and Nargacuga arena quest
*I still haven’t beaten it*
Started with 4U, played each one that came out since and dabbled a tiny bit in FU and 3U but not enough to really know the games.
Rise still is closer to OG MH than World.
How does this not have more views? This is genius, funny, and surprisingly really accurate.

Can totally relate (started from freedom on PSP)
Honestly worldborne kinda makes me feel bad at times.
back in the old games the monsters attacked you on sight so it was just kill or be killed. In world they more often than not just roar at you once or not even aknowledge you´re there. makes me feel bad to just rush at them with weapon in hand xD
@@Psychoangel-d23 I totally understand that, and it’s actually something I love about the game feeling so much more alive. It really makes you stop and question your actions sometimes
I like World. It felt alive in a way that the other games don’t quite match.
>Freedom unite for ios

Side note: I’m surprised Peace walker wasn’t in there considering it had a control style that’s lifted from the psp games…but then again if we included a minor _cameo_ any old one will do, we’d be here all day
