I welcome the majority of the quality of life changes. I don’t even mind the games getting easier. I just really miss the old lobby systems that encouraged people to stay in groups and take turns doing each other’s quests. People actually chatted with each other back in the day. We made so many friends. Nowadays, with the drop-in drop-out joining mechanic, it’s all about getting the items you need as fast as possible. No one sticks around anymore. @@cardnal44 I imagine it’s hard to give a proper picture of how things used to be. I mainly played the console releases, so MH1, Tri, TriU, World, Rise. My buddy says the portable releases weren’t as friendly. That being said though, some days I’d literally be in a single lobby for 10 hours, mostly with the same friends I’d met on that very game. We’d even stop to take lunch and such while just afk together, come back and start questing again. My friends list was so full I had to “appear offline” some nights just to be left alone when I was feeling anti-social. I met friends that would carry over to other games too. Since playing Worlds and Rise, I haven’t met a single new friend in game that I’d group up to play with more than a few times. All my play groups were either personal friends from outside the game or randoms. I know there’s a lot of factors, like I don’t have the time I used to when I was a kid anymore, I’m older, more tired, but it was just such a different atmosphere in the old lobby system. I wish you could’ve experienced it.
I can wholeheartedly agree. I am still doing it like the old days. Opening a lobby, do my hunts, waiting for people to join. But ever since we got the S.O.S. system, communication has...died. This feeling of getting aquainted with completely new people, chatting and learning from another is completely gone. That was what made my experiences in Tri and 3U when so unique. I had yet to find a game that gave me that same experience and I can't say I did. I love World and Rise. They both do very well and are a lot of fun. But I miss this the interactions with my fellow hunters.
Love how much of a mixed bag this comment section is: We have people who just find this funny People who use this as a chance to shit on Rise People who actually give valid criticism towards Rise Veterans saying they prefer the newer games Veterans talking about how easy 5th Fleet players have it People saying what song would out veteran players People saying how they would have weeded out Rise starters People who remind me why the MH Community is known for being so nice People just reminiscing on stuff they miss from the old games A person assuming anyone who says rise is bad or saying world is better is a world baby and insulting them And maybe more I haven’t seen
As someone who played the Freedom Unite on PSP back in the day, moved with the 3DS and was enthusiastic about World, I have to admit: World had a lot of mechanics that made the game a lot easier than their counterparts. Still, I like the maps of World because they are so freaking big and complex I get lost like a moron, and for some reason, I like that!
Yeah I started with FU too, I played every games since then (even the two stories opus). And yeah the games are easier now but in a good way. World brought so much QoL improvements, and Rise/Sunbreak brought even more. Now MH is much easier but still extremly technical and fun. Sure you cart less, but at least you don't cart for BS reasons anymore, and you can get back in action faster with all the traversals mechanics. Even as a old school player I like that the game is much more streamlined.
might not have been a really old player like freedom unite but I'm glad to have hopped on the monster hunter train during the tri days. such good times I might be crazy for actually missing underwater combat.
I didn’t even know there were more monster hunter games lmao, I played monster hunter worlds for like 2 hours and got bored and never thought about it again
I remember playing monster hunter 3rd for PSP just looking at monster and running away and my first favorite monster was the qurupeco because it's neck becomes large like on god i just run when i here that intense " ! " sound
Started with Freedom and Tri. This is accurate. Although Rise is fun as all heck. Love zooming around and feeling like an anime character. Making the game faster was a great decision imo.
Nah game is speedrun mode. Needs to return to on the ground travel. Tracking and Hunting utilizing tons of tools for strategy and approach. Rise should be the final game of its kind. Every wep feels like IG/LS.
You know at this point i rather have a Second MH Frontier because, man they do not need to limit themselves with Frontier. Can you imagine a Hunter Style with Silkbind Skill and you know the Ability to RUN? that's fast, and fun, makes me felt like playing Devil May Cry but it's Monster Hunter instead.
I remember the first time i played Freedom Unite i thought it was on average difficulty. 10+ years later I breezed through both Sunbreak & Iceborne, and when i tried going back to FU somehow I feel like i had a much harder time beating. I realized I got spoiled too much by good hitbox and mobility.
At first I thought the real punchline gonna be MH Riders, since it was objectively the only bad MH game in the entire franchise, and everyone would shit over it no problem, but guess this works too lol. Also Riders & Rise got same initial. So it's interesting how in the last year, the fans hates MHR, now jump to 2021, and everyone loves MHR.
Honestly I prefer the MHW ones there was a lot of personality between the 2 chefs and it was always a pretty good bop (mostly cuz you got brainwashed by it after the 1 millionth time hearing it)
I played mhfu, mh (only a bit), mh3rd, mhw and iceborn. The best is the last 2. The hardest is mhfu, but it was good, played when i was a child. The hitbox are very bad (mhfu) and get too high damage from monsters. Literally weeks for beat some monsters... A game need to be balanced, not too easy not too hard. I'm waiting for next mh on pc. Not rise, it is for switch, the pc version is the same, i want another better than mhw, only for pc and console.
Because world changed quite a bit of things that people who played the games before it didn’t really care for. So for older players, it and Rise tend to be the punching bags
@@catsorafgc the first one shouldn't be a problem at all, especially since the game still has its fair share of challenge. Cutscenes are what they are. Weapon design problems has already been explained it's tied to the new engine and the need of time for modeling them. And to be honest, being a weapon collector we're pretty far from 90%.
If you think you need to upgrade your pc for Rise, you shouldn't try to run World on it. Rise is a Switch port, it is designed to not require a lot of power. World is meant for pc/xbox/playstation, the graphics are a bit more demanding.
>Freedom unite for ios deep cut mmmhmmm Side note: I’m surprised Peace walker wasn’t in there considering it had a control style that’s lifted from the psp games…but then again if we included a minor _cameo_ any old one will do, we’d be here all day
And then you have me-a veteran that has been playing since the first game on PS2 and could solo everything Unite had to offer-who prefers Worldborne over every other entry in the series
Honestly worldborne kinda makes me feel bad at times. back in the old games the monsters attacked you on sight so it was just kill or be killed. In world they more often than not just roar at you once or not even aknowledge you´re there. makes me feel bad to just rush at them with weapon in hand xD
@@Darknessblade4me I totally understand that, and it’s actually something I love about the game feeling so much more alive. It really makes you stop and question your actions sometimes
Started with 4U, played each one that came out since and dabbled a tiny bit in FU and 3U but not enough to really know the games. I’m lowkey afraid to go back to previous gens because I know Rise and World pampered me. I loved the heck out of them though.
If you started with Gen 4, I think you have it in you to go back. It's similar enough to the classic titles to prepare you for the whiplash of being surrounded by more simple mechanics. I did it with Gen 3, loved it even if I would die before I willing did anything Quest related underwater.
with 4U you´re just at the edge between old and new gen. One of the things you mainly have to keep in mind is that monster hitboxes can be utter wank at times. Also your palicos arent going to be much of a back up. It´s all up to you most of the time.
Started with 4U (wish my 3ds circle pad pro wasn't too worn out to play well with), played Gen, 100% quest completion of World/Iceborne, Still playing through Rise/Sunbreak, Tried a little of 3U (been meaning to get back to it). Would absolutely love to try others too (lowkey always wanted to get into Frontier but RIP). Also, what are yall's favorite canteen/gathering hub themes? One of mine is def Guild Hall 1 or 2 from 4U.
"lowkey always wanted to get into Frontier but RIP" You can go play Frontier. There are servers made for it by the community. It's a bit of a hassle to set up and progression before G rank is scuffed due to how the game was handled by devs at the end of it's life cycle, but it's a lot of fun. And torture. Dear Gog do the monsters hit hard when you go past high rank into Gou rank.
@@buragi5441 From what i´ve heard the monsters arent even really hitting that hard. It´s the fact that you get a defense penalty for each G rank you pass. it´s not that the monsters are deadlier, it´s just that you run with a -1k armor debuff on the highest G rank quests. Otherwise i doubt you´d be taking half as much damage.
@@buragi5441 yikes. Considering there are monsters in that game that just spam AOE like no tomorrow.... Fuck me that´s not even MH anymore, thats just purgatory the game.
@@Darknessblade4me Wrong. It is MH, it is MH in it's purest essence. The game's main mechanic is learning to utilise your i-frames to the maximum. Once you learn that, it is extremely cathartic defeating a monster that at any moment can kill you in 2 moves, while countering everything it throws at you.
Man... I started the series from FU, and all the way up to Generations. I've never played GU, World, and Rise, because I don't have access to their respective consoles/pc. Hopefully oneday I can play 'em...

Most of those so called changes aren’t quality of life.
All monster hunter game are fun to me imo
True, but for different reasons. The old games did do some things better than the newer ones.
Except the first one
what about when it was the only monster hunter game? it was definitely the most fun then
Love how much of a mixed bag this comment section is:
We have people who just find this funny
People who use this as a chance to shit on Rise
People who actually give valid criticism towards Rise
Veterans saying they prefer the newer games
Veterans talking about how easy 5th Fleet players have it
People saying what song would out veteran players
People saying how they would have weeded out Rise starters
People who remind me why the MH Community is known for being so nice
People just reminiscing on stuff they miss from the old games
A person assuming anyone who says rise is bad or saying world is better is a world baby and insulting them
And maybe more I haven’t seen
Well...the community is definitely diverse if anything
Immersion.
this video gathered up all the old heads 😭
Started from 3U on 3ds and 4U is my favorite in the series. Portable 3rd is pretty great and I've been wanting to try tri.
might not have been a really old player like freedom unite
but I'm glad to have hopped on the monster hunter train during the tri days.
such good times
I might be crazy for actually missing underwater combat.
This is too accurate on so many levels. 😂
I didn’t even know there were more monster hunter games lmao, I played monster hunter worlds for like 2 hours and got bored and never thought about it again
As a portable 3rd hunter.... Y E S
This is Beautiful and I remember really liking Stories so am happy they didn't get beaten up before they got the glow up
I remember playing monster hunter 3rd for PSP just looking at monster and running away and my first favorite monster was the qurupeco because it's neck becomes large like on god i just run when i here that intense " ! " sound
You forgot the best part, hes the only monster to backeth the mandem
Soon, the Veterans remembered about Iceborne’s Fatalis… and they stopped pummeling.
As someone who’s put over 100 hours into Rise, this made me laugh so hard
Honestly I prefer the MHW ones there was a lot of personality between the 2 chefs and it was always a pretty good bop (mostly cuz you got brainwashed by it after the 1 millionth time hearing it)
Yeah the big burly cat and the sweet old lady cat they were rly cool. I also really like the Dango cat ninja team. But GenU had fondue!
I love Monster Hunter stories 2 and 1
Why this fanbase needs to pick on World? It's not even funny how I waited 12 years to get Monster Hunter back without being forced to buy a Nintendo.
Because world changed quite a bit of things that people who played the games before it didn’t really care for. So for older players, it and Rise tend to be the punching bags
@@catsorafgc it just improved Quality of Life things that shouldn't be an issue in a 2018 game.
@@thediamondcutter9185 Making things much easier, shoving unskippable cutscenes, and 90% of weapons being fur/feathers on bone/iron isn’t QoL.
@@catsorafgc World's problems (such as clutch claw) will never compare to what wirebugs did to the franchise.
As a veteran of freedom unite with the rainbow dye:
Y’all don’t know how easy you have it
You could litterally just say “Plesioth’s hip check” and the ones not cowering or crying are newer gen players XD
And the song to rat out old players is the Well-done steak song. So tasty!
How does this not have more views? This is genius, funny, and surprisingly really accurate.
Goddammit! I knew what the punchline was going to be when my game didn't show up.
but....what if I played both and love both?
As a Freedom Unite enjoyer this is highly accurate
I'm currently playing Ultimate 4, plan to play World for a while and then when I get the chance to upgrade my PC, play Rise on full settings
If you think you need to upgrade your pc for Rise, you shouldn't try to run World on it. Rise is a Switch port, it is designed to not require a lot of power. World is meant for pc/xbox/playstation, the graphics are a bit more demanding.
Isn't gen ultimate still kind of on the same category with rise? Just curious here
Should‘ve given them a drink and asked them to drink while walking 😎
That's a new trick sir.
Im a MH3 player. This was really cool
I stared with Freedom United, then moved to MHGenerations, to MHW & Iceborne and now a friend made me get Rise
Proud World hunter here
good luck with your channel
>Freedom unite for ios
deep cut mmmhmmm
Side note: I’m surprised Peace walker wasn’t in there considering it had a control style that’s lifted from the psp games…but then again if we included a minor _cameo_ any old one will do, we’d be here all day
And then you have me-a veteran that has been playing since the first game on PS2 and could solo everything Unite had to offer-who prefers Worldborne over every other entry in the series
Can totally relate (started from freedom on PSP)
Honestly worldborne kinda makes me feel bad at times.
back in the old games the monsters attacked you on sight so it was just kill or be killed. In world they more often than not just roar at you once or not even aknowledge you´re there. makes me feel bad to just rush at them with weapon in hand xD
@@Darknessblade4me I totally understand that, and it’s actually something I love about the game feeling so much more alive. It really makes you stop and question your actions sometimes
I’m a Tri kid, but I love these new entries anyway. Awesome vid tho lol
This is the exact definition of quality content.
"lowkey always wanted to get into Frontier but RIP"
You can go play Frontier.
@@Darknessblade4me Gou rank isn't G rank. And yes they do hit that hard there.
That did not end how I expected it to.
I’m okay with not getting hit by a tail whip from 3 areas away.
Man...
I started the series from FU, and all the way up to Generations.
I've never played GU, World, and Rise, because I don't have access to their respective consoles/pc.
Hopefully oneday I can play 'em...
started on F2 myself, bought a swtich just for Rise and then they ported it over to PC lol
Rise is announced to come to Playstation/XboX
@@NoradNoxtus you can still play GenU tho
Damn dude, you gotta play those games, they are amazing
you aren't missing much
worldborne ran so sunrise could walk lmao
good sht
Weapon controlls on the right thumbstick was brutal at times.
I remember my first roadblocks. Had to sharpen my teeth on Qurupecos. Good shit.
Certified Gatekeeping Classic ☺️
Think the fight music at the end should have been the deviljho theme. But other than that I was rolling. 🤣🤣🤣
From player of generation ultimate and rise, that all right!!! (Sing dango theme in my head)
This was perfect, down to the music and choice of games.
I've been Monster Hunting since the PS2 days.
Rise is coming to the PS4/5 in a month. Never bought it for Switch. Can't wait to finally play it.
been playing since Freedom 1 and this is pretty accurate to how I view the franchise lol
Monster Hunter Stories sent me to heaven...
As a "newbie" who only played World, Rise and recently, Stories 2 and knows the older titles only from the experience of veteran friends, this is how i feel lol
sigh saw the punchline a mile away
Idk about ya'll but the fear of having to face a sudden appearance of mad pickle dinosaur is giving me ptsd
I actually have rise open right now watching the cats beat the shit out of the ball of dango. I actually bought the ultimate version and equipped the Black Belt S set and didn't know how to use armor sphere's later on because you can't upgrade the black belt s armor set.
i started on Tri but I do be humming the dango song lol
100% Approved and still playing Freedom 1
Glad I started with Portable 3rd heh.
Hot take: there are no bad Monster Hunter Games.
You're damn right blade brother
This is it. The best monster hunter meme of all time
Have you seen the Bazelguese/Airplane one by Nev4da?? I think that one and the Jack Black hunting horn meme by Herdy are my personal favorites
@@Countdownsmiles I’ve seen both. Had completely forgotten about the Jack black one. Loved that one
started with world and currently playing rise. do enjoy
And now everyone is swinging cute plushie weapons, making this video even more accurate lmao
Plushie weapons have always been around.
You say this now, but the moment a rajang gets a hold of a great wire bug, you will be singing a different toon.
Man I was like 7 when I first played freedom unite on the psp I will cherish that forever
