    I moved to Merida. MX. I’ve been here since December. It’s okay but I definitely feel like the FB groups over sold it. Now here I am, looking at videos on moving to the DR. Lol. But this time I’m visiting for 10 days first to make sure I’ll like it.

      I think it's hard to pick one place as it's subjective and what i deem as safe you may not but many expats prefer the northern coast of the island.

    Hey there, great info and video. Paying a finders fee during the duration of your lease sounds like a rip-off. It's unheard of. A one-time fee makes sense but is still questionable.

    hello I just liked and subscribed value informative video , I have a question because I want to move there for my birthday in 5 months my rent here in NYC is 600$ , if I go to Dominican Republic with $3000 or $4000 American usd will that be enough to cover me because someone said US dollar is worth more?

    • @thatgirljo
      @thatgirljo  2 года назад +2

      Yes, USD is worth more but money goes fast here as many places does not accept debit/credit cards so you will be always using cash. And in regard to your budget of 3000 or 4000usd. Is it per month or for the entire year? If per month, yes you are able to live here with no problem...if not per month then 3000-4000 may only take a few months depending on your spending habits and rent..because you have to factor in rent, transportation, food, and leaisure and fun. A furnished apartment here ranges around 500 usd and up. Now you can definitely find something cheaper like 200us per month but the chances are it will be a dominican home and unfurnished. And to them unfurnish mean no furniture and no kitchen appliances. So you will be responsible of putting that in. The lower your expenses the longer you can stay without working. The higher your total expenses the shorter your time here will be without income

      @@thatgirljo yea I’m saying like if I take $4000 American us dollars and convert it to Dominican Euro will that be enough to cover me up to a year or do I need to bring more money to DR

    • @lilneaky_
      @lilneaky_ 2 года назад

      @@thatgirljo because I know $5000 in usa is 271675.00000 exchange currency in the Dominican Republic , that’s a huge difference, it’s kind of confusing 😂🤦🏾‍♂️ do you pay rent with US dollars or Dominican Republic euro?

    • @lilneaky_
      @lilneaky_ 2 года назад

      @@thatgirljo yea facts I wasn’t trying to retire I was trying to buy a little nice apartment for around 600 or 500 and that last me a few months I would be job searching those whole months In the Dominican Republic while I already paid off some months rent even if they pay little I would still be having slight income while the rent is paid

    • @thatgirljo
      @thatgirljo  2 года назад +1

      @@lilneaky_ i pay my rent in dollars but owners will take rent in pesos as well... but the exchange rate is not as different like you may think. For example, motos are 50 or 100 depending on the town. 50 dominican pesos is about 80 cents while 100 pesos is around 1.80 usd. And in the states a typical bus ride is like 2.00usd...prices are increasing here just like in the states so i recommend to set a budget for yourself.
