Absolutely one of the best jokes of the entire show. Perfectly embodies the insanity of ship culture music videos in the late 2000s and early 2010s, and the clips themselves are the perfect level of vaguely believable for this show but having zero context for any of it so everything is completely insane (the reason I regard this episode as one of the greatest of the show in general). And it gets elevated even higher once Abed and Pierce's montage plays. When Pierce looks at Abed while he's giving him change never fails to make me laugh every single time
At first, I wasn't sure how I felt about the age gap between these two. But it was at the moment when Jeff saved Annie from choking that I became a shipper.
Before this episode was made, Dan Harmon liked a fan compilation video of Jeff and Annie using the song Gravity ( ruclips.net/video/SsBvqDwVqwc/видео.html ) and he was so impressed he parodied it for this episode.
Not only did he parody it, the music budget was depleted, so he shelled out his own money ($35K) to use the copyright. Then he tweeted the original creator of the video and told them he had a gift for them in this episode. There are so many instances where Dan pays homage to fans and haters of the show within the show's script. It's so meta, I love it!
Liking this so it’s at 69 but also I completely agree I agree with dan that then getting together at the end wouldn’t have been right for the characters but do think it should’ve been left on the note that they both definitely had feelings for each other cuz Annie kinda brushed it aside imo

O man later on Jeff said she was going off script so I'm guessing she really meant those feelings. Poor Annie T_T
I was kinda disappointed how they waited till the last episode to reveal Jeff loves her back only to have it be with a kiss. With all the build up, it deserves better. Oh and Netflix, #andamovie

This however proved that Jeff was internally still a selfish and adulterous person who didn’t deserve someone as innocent and sweet as Annie. I’ll never stop shipping them but as Jeff said at the end of the show, he messed up and let her go.
True but you gotta remember the age difference. As the older of the two, he must feel a certain responsibility to keep a certain distance between them. She was nineteen in this scene (still a teenager) and he was thirty six. I’ll ship them forever but it’s understandable that he waited

I'm beginning to see why fans say the early seasons were/are the best.
