You hit that first chord playing 'The One' and man I felt that! EVH. I'm nauseated that I just learned of these amps and you're not making 'em anymore. I'll dry my tears and enjoy the clips. They're both great, Jose seems a little brasher, more like a husqvarna chainsaw. I dig the one, though. Fuji Apples FTW!
You are the first person i’ve heard say the GK amp for 5150 I remember hearing one of those way back in maybe 87? and thought same thing but was brand new to guitar 5150 while different still has a place in my tonal mount rushmore may have to find one of those old GK stereo combos that were like lunch pail sized if i recall NEED to get in touch for a possible MotoTeddy 👊🏼 rock on my friend
Hello Ossie As much as I like hearing you talk, I really like watching you build. Please consider making some videos of the build of the upcoming projects you mentioned Thanks again for your hard work and sharing!
Your Right Ossie the number one is number one 🤠 The splat, The distortion Dynamics, The notes hit a little softer on the attack. i thought no more NEED a Marshmallow 🎯
You are tottaly right about the picking, after you learn the clasdic VH songs you have to add in some of the picking polistion,, Also, you're plexi marshmellow pickes that up more.
Great comparison Ossie! For me, there's a fair amount of overlap. "The One" just nails that tone and seems a little more natural, Also, a little softer around the edges. The Jose, can get very close to that tone but can also get a little more compression (Sustain and probably feel) and at the same time harder edged. A little more into the early metal side of things. It would be tough to pick between these two. I assume the Jose is a touch easier to play with the clipping diodes in the circuit?
Ossie you really need to try to play with the clipping diodes. 2x Bat 42 or 2x transistor 2n5400 work insanely well to get the VH tone. The latter was used by Jose in some very rare occasions that’s why it’s an interesting one.
i use to love cascaded gain to run them all out 10/10,, now i just like that it can get me in the same good distortion zone with different pickups, from classic 7.5k to 16k hot rod puckups i can get to the good gain level i like.
Thinking out loud, not a critic -- I have gotten Brown tones from Chandler / Butler rack tube OD with its own active EQ boss MIJ Super-OD and MIJ Boss 7 Band, was taking time to do, but the three combined did the trick and cost effective vs the Marsh Knockoffs and re-deux and endless mods and spending a fortune I think my rig 2 hunny dollars c late 80s, with MIJ Boss pedals and that Early Version Chandler Butler Rack Tube Driver and a generic mosfet or tube slave power amp and 4 x 12 with British style or EVM 12m / Mesa Black shadows, BR12 100 watt by Eminence / Carvin (late 80s) or Celestion 75 watters, all worked in split 4 x 12 MTS 412 (Peavey Slant) Speakers are debatable for the tones also and green backs are crazy spendy... Been a VH fan since I was a wee lad...

I will do more build vids I think. :)
Thanks Buzzed!
Ossie
Ed's varied picking adds another layer of complexity for us mere mortals trying to get closer to his zone. Exciting and disheartening all at once.
Hes a juggernaut.
Ossie
Both sound great, Ossie!
waiting for your "on the bench" series. so we can see how you mod these things
I think I did those already.. but Maybe there will be more bench vids in the future!
All the best, geezberry!

The picking is key to getting the sound to work in all the different places on the neck
Its amazing hoe good he was

@@ossieahsen6732 Sliding his hand with the flanger for Atomic Punk intro shows Eddy knew about getting those sounds with picking also. 🤠

Lots of good tones to be had. It just takes some fiddling

So the secret to the low vol is in the transformers? Or is there a ppimv? I gotta scour the previous videos
Howdy Ossie, How do I order a Jose Marshmallow? Thanks,Tim
LOVE them both but prefer the The 1. Is the Marshmello The 1 variac'd @Ossie Ahsen?
The 1 has the power transformer doing the variac for ya. so I guess the answer is yes
