    So sweet to see Teddy cosy up to you for a 'game' of gardening (😆 ✨ ) - You can really see his confidence growing, outdoors.. It made me smile to see him run back to the house, just after you. 😍🐱🐈✨

    Well, if Teddy eats a poisoned mouse, he'll also be poisoned. Traps are far more humane. You may have bats up there also - they are totally harmless.

    Having the wildlife move in during the winter is normal for rural France. One winter we caught ten (with a humane trap) and relocated them a mile down the road. It won't just be mice though. There are fouine (which I think are stone martens but not sure) and also Loire which are very cute little critters. Poisoning them really isn't a good idea. If they die outside, something else like an owl will eat them and then they die, or your kitten might find them and you really don't want that. Even if you kill this lot, another lot will move in, that is just the reality of living here You either learn to live with it or try to stop up the holes where they get in. We have managed to block up the holes they accessed into our actual living space and haven't had mice for about four years, so it is worth trying.

    How I love watching you and Teddy what a cute little kitty. I am slightly jealous that you are still able to garden. Our ground is completely frozen and everything looks dead. I can’t wait to get out there and dig in the dirt. Enjoy.😊

    Wonderful garden footage of you, Teddy and the garden! I use live traps and release them in the woods. But I have a female cat that "mouses"! We didn't have any intruders this past Fall. Could be we have more birds of prey! Take care!

    Lovely watching the gardening. Hope the supervisor got his wages, he takes the job very seriously. You can see from the gloss on his coat he's in tip top condition. Consider getting humane traps for the loft, would hate Teddy to get poisoned if you had an escapee rodent.

    I had a mouse a few months ago…we caught it in one of those clear tube traps with some “vache qui rit” inside. Mice are not as clever as rats and easy to catch. You could release him whilst out on a bike ride into a distant field.

    Hi Marc, you've probably realised that when Teddy sits in the sink he is asking you to turn on the cold water tap, cats just love drinking fresh running water from the tap even though they won't drink it in their bowl.

    Teddy enjoys the field and discovering the world. He will catch mice, rats and lizards and maybe birds too, which is natural behavior. My cats bring animals in their mouths, all of which are still alive and I can release these animals again.

  • @marie34K
    @marie34K 10 дней назад +4

    Hi , for the mice just let your cat go in there . Usually the mice smell a cat's been exploring their space and they flee the place . And any sort of rodent really . Let the cat go in for a good 5 minutes every day .

    • @GoingSolo-sfs
      @GoingSolo-sfs  10 дней назад

    • @marie34K
      @marie34K 10 дней назад

      @GoingSolo-sfs i was not talking about the attic. Very bad for your kitty with that insulation . I was talking about the space under the stairs . Sorry if I didn’t explain my thought . I’ m French and sometimes when tired my English is not what it could be .

    mint oil, cayenne pepper mashed with garlic. One of the mice species is protected in France, begins with L , can't remember how to spell it. However, how are you going to know until you find it, lol. Teddy looks happy. My mad girl went out in gale-force winds and doesn't mind the rain, which i think is strange. Also i got a humane mouse catcher, i used it twice, and it only took half an hour for the mouse to enter it. I suppose if it wasn't for the insulation, you could shove your cat up there, as i used to do that with one of my kittens, at first she caught spiders, then became an expert mouse catcher. My current cat is bored in England, but when we get back to France she will be taking her job (catching rodents) super seriously, but sometimes she brings them in the house, and she kind of has ADHD as she loses her concentration and they escape in the house; hence the humane mouse catcher. In fact, i must by a humane rat catcher, just in case, lol

    Hi Marc, Pity there is that open window up there or I would said put the cat up there, his scent alone may stop the mice. We had rats on the back garden and somebody said have you got a cat because that may make them move. We have 2 dogs that don't like cats hence why we don't have one. Xx

    Be careful with treats to kill your rodents - now you have a cat. Just leave them be but give your cat free run of your house - they’ll soon all move on one cat is on the prowl!
