When I left the UK two years ago I got in my car and drove. No debt, no job, and no plan. I didnt even know what country I was going to. It seems a bit weird when I say it like that but it's what happened. Everything was and still is absolutely OK.

Love this video. You and I are blessed! I live on a little piece of land with a small barn and little, brick house! I can sit out on the deck and watch my dog or cat play, birds sing, deer, racoons, blue skies! Not everyone is so blessed! I plan maybe 60 days out! Pay bills, doctor appointments...You hit the nail on the head! "Man plans. God smiles!" Enjoy today! Hope its a good week for you! I am in Indiana in the southern area. Was very pleasant today in the 50sF. BUT a nasty bit of weather is headed our way! We are 47 days away from Spring!!! Ordered a seed catalogue making a list for seeds! You take care!

I'm bit like you, I really only plan a month or so ahead, I don't wo4k but have horse commitments, so I have 5o work around them to a degree. You have to sit back and think about what you really enjoy in life, and start to do more of that, if we were honest with ourselves most of us will enjoy just being at home , either in garden , or just chilling, or out with friends or family, the simply things. Like you I enjoy just sitting outside and feeling the first warm sun of the year on your face, and watching 5he birds, cat , dog or what ever, this morning I sat outside on my yard having a coffee with the warm sun on my bare arms and face ,bliss what else would I truly want to be doing, maybe a slightly different location ie garden lol , but I'm a home based person , I enjoy meeting people but I'm happy with my own company and that of a furry friend. Much love from a warm Kent ❤

A wise friend of mine once said he'd come to treasure, in (his) life, 'pockets of happiness' - in acceptance that happiness isn't necessarily lasting or planned, but can be derived from allowing oneself to just be present 'in the moment' of a pleasurable situation.. be that say (in the UK Winter) the sight of a cluster of tiny snowdrops, emerging from cold ground, or the sight of a robin, perched on 'his' branch, beady eyes surveying his territory, or a hint of heat (on one's face) from the Winter sun.
Given the New World Order, seemingly being forced upon us, I plan to take one day at a time and grab the as many 'pockets of happiness' as I can, from nature and loved ones. Thanks Marc, for a most thoughtful vlog.

This question is in the air at the moment. It was asked on one of my FB groups whether to waita couple of years (towards retirement) to move to France from the USA. My response was if it was me I would get out of there asap. I really appreciate what a peaceful, very low crime and lovely area I live in.
One question though, how do you think an "average" person thinks? The older i get the more convinced I am that each and every one of us has issues. I would love to hear how you were diagnosed as ADHD as many of the symptoms that you talk about seem to apply to yours truly 🤔🙃

Most interesting band thought provoking. When I left school I probably planned up to a year ahead as I knew what date my next holiday would be. Not great. I woke with flu coming on but not wanting to let my girlfriend down, we went and I spent a week in bed in a cheap hotel. She would bring me ‘travelling soup’ each night. and tell me about her day. ASI got older I liked doing things on the spur of the moment. I was in my 30s and at University and my husbands holiday started. I suggested he fly around the world to visit our daughter. He was gone in two days. He liked that instant living too. It was fun and adventurous. Now he has died and I am ancient with health issues my life is about as fun as to what my weeks food I will get delivered or whether I need the gardener to cut the grass or prune the roses. What I do like is viewing your channel nearly every day or watching a good movie😊 sorry about the typos I need new glasses.

I have a short term and long term plan, but it is not set in stone as things move / challenges come up that mean things take a left turn. I plan for the year then a rough idea for the next year such as holidays and the like. Sadly most of life is taken up with the grind of eat work eat sleep. Totally agree with you though you have to be able to rely on yourself to get things done and not rely on others. I also live for today and enjoy what can be enjoyed.

Interesting how you brought up planning ahead. I realised that as i had progressed past 60, my planning is reducing more and more hmmm. Maybe its a mental state, maybe its mental health, shoot i don't know. BUT...i'm going to put myself in your shoes, and if i was in that situation. I wouldn't say i'd plan years ahead; but i would start putting down what i would need to do in summer for following winter. I would have some projects i would progress in summer, amongst the things like growing veg etc. I'd build a greenhouse. and a few other things...and i'd mark the month i would do them in. NOT when i'd do them by, just a window. Thats like as long term as i would do i think.

As I’ve grown older, I plan less. I have small projects, usually involving the garden or perhaps refreshing an area in the home, but they never have timeframes.
In a way the COVID lockdown (I’m Australian)facilitated slowing down even more and I embraced it even more after it ended. It caused me to look around and see what was necessary and not do important. 🇦🇺 stop and smell the roses as the saying goes

Not planned but so happy. Still waiting to see a bench in the Nature Reserve , so maybe you need to plan 😂❤❤

Marc, wondering about the legalities of living in France. Is it possible to just be a visitor and keep renewing to stay on, or do you have to apply for residence status/ citizenship? Don't think I'd meet the requirements for the latter. Glad you're content and enjoying life again. Agree, that there's a great sense of liberty when outside in nature and we relax.

Up until a fortnight ago I did plan for 2 weeks at a time and it certainly didn't work out for me, I had planned to try to sort out my small office ( a corner in our living room) but since then I got shingles even though I don't go out, I'm on my 7th day and it's painful both in the spots and with the headaches, then there's the lethargic feeling most of the time. Hence my office not getting sorted. I even had to stop my son and grandson coming over had to stop them. So literally my week has been awful. Couldnt even go and meet my new Great Grandson, in future I don't think I will plan anything. I will take the day as it comes. 😂 ❤ x

I have short-term plans (trips, events, etc.) and I have two-week plans... just so I can schedule day-day requirements (dropping off used books, buying painting supplies for the next home rejuvenation project, etc.).
But there's still lots of room for the unexpected. 🤔😬😄

I don't think it is possible to plan for happiness or contentment. That's what happens when you're living your life. I plan for things I want to do, or that needs to be done. The timeline varies depending on what it is and what else I need. I have some idea what I will be foing in the fall; I will make further plans when I know more about what exactly will be available. And I don't waste time worrying about worrying about rumours about what might happen next month or next year or ant time.
