Welcome to my country, Singapore! I've been watching several of your China videos, and I can't believe you are all here now. I'm hoping you got to enjoy our local food, like the kaya toast breakfast, as well as our various ethnic districts like Chinatown, Little India, Kampong Glam, as well as the Peranakan area of Katong. If it's your first time in Singapore, exploring the Civic district and all those ethnic districts would be a good intro to the country, and that in itself would be a full day out. Also, the kids would probably enjoy a trip to the Singapore Zoo, River Safari, Bird Paradise, and Night Safari, which are all conveniently located in the Mandai area literally next to each other. It would be a full day out for this alone as well. Another full day out option would include Universal Studios Singapore and Fort Siloso on Sentosa island. Singapore Botanic Gardens is a UNESCO heritage site, as is our hawker food culture. You can explore various hawker food centres while you are exploring Chinatown. There is Chinatown Complex and Maxwell Food Centre, just to name 2 well-known hawker centres. Another good one is the Old Airport Road one, which was just renovated and re-opened, and is in the central area of Singapore, closer to Katong. Katong also has many hawker food options, but also do not miss Guan Hoe Soon and Kim Choo for Peranakan food. Just some suggestions to start with. Some people might say what I've suggested sounds somewhat touristy, but if it's your very first time here, then it makes sense to start somewhere with these kinds of things, before you explore our heartland neighbourhood spots. Hope you guys have a great time in Singapore! It is more expensive than other Southeast Asian countries, but it can also be less expensive than you expect, depending on where you go and what you do. We aren't ALL millionaires living in this country after all. There are regular folks here living regular lives. One unexpected spot you might visit are the showflats in HDB Hub in Toa Payoh, as that might give you an idea of how a great majority of Singapore lives. We're not all crazy rich asians here. More than 80 percent of us live in HDB (Housing Development Board) flats. It's public housing in Singapore, but it's some of the best quality public housing in the world. Toa Payoh is also one of our earliest HDB estates, and HDB Hub is located in the neighbourhood central area of Toa Payoh. After visiting the show flats in HDB Hub, you might want to just wander around the neighbourhood central area to see how most of Singapore lives.
I regret not visiting the zoo. I really wanted to see the Komodo dragon, which I know only from RUclips. However, I don’t regret visiting Sentosa and seeing the different species of fish in the aquarium. I’m still in Singapore and will leave in two days
@@henokseyoum2987The Zoo and Bird Paradise are world class and very comfortable with lots of cooling facilities. They are “must visit” for all visitors! Do watch the free shows at these attractions.
It’s a common misconception! Singapore’s high development level often surprises visitors, especially those accustomed to the lower costs in other Southeast Asian countries. Many expect similar prices across the region, but Singapore’s infrastructure, standard of living, and economy are more comparable to places like Hong Kong, Japan, or South Korea. These expectations can lead to sticker shock for those who aren't prepared for the difference. 😅
Having being to most of the places you have stated, we can confirm that Singapore is in fact more expensive, however it is by far the cleanest and smartest country we have visited with incredible state of the art architecture, therefore the cost of living is warranted 👍🏼
