Atlee has not only exceeded expectations but also settled the age-old debate about the greatest entry scene and interval block in Bollywood. Atlee introduces us to a never-before-seen avatar of SRK, which is an absolute delight for devoted SRK fans like myself and enthusiasts of mass cinema. Vikram Rathore emerges as the quintessential modern-day Bollywood mass character, with SRK effortlessly exuding swag and charisma that had the entire theater erupting in whistles, cheers, and hoots throughout the runtime.

As a Tamilian, this film was a blend of ten odd films & their highlights that we’ve already seen & loved. Nothing radical. I kept going- “Aah this portion is from this flick” throughout the movie which dampened the experience for me. But for North Indians who haven’t watched many Tamil flicks, I can see how this would seem spectacular.

Could be, but I loved it especially after Pathan which was like a below average film for me. I wasn't having high hopes anyway. In the first scene I thought it is a negotiation movie so when it didn't turn out that I was happy! Everything was average, i agree. But I completely loved Vikram Rathore's entry with that music. I thought they were making some new universe with this too and was expecting Salman or someone else to come 😂. So was pleasantly surprised with SRK. I thought Azad wasn't good with emotional portions, like I didn't connect with his bond for either the daughter or Nayantara. But felt most for Vikram's character, he felt fearless and badass. I think they could have tried to flesh it out a bit better, it was too long with too many chopped storylines. Would have prefered a well made one part with more details. Like money heist, an entire season on just one heist was so interesting. But this was a lot superficial. I think in bollywood everyone acted well is a huge plus and the movie had some storyline unlike most action movies. This reminded me of the movie Wednesday, it just went to gym and became a Superstar😂😂 Way better than Pathaan so❤❤

We're pretty much starting to get sick of it which is why young creators like lokesh kanagaraj, Mari Selvaraj, Nelson etc have become huge names with only a few movies in their filmography. Mass is ok but only mass isn't good. I've seen die hard fandoms of Vijay, Ajith, rajnikanth etc starting to criticize mass. And that criticism is only increasing albeit slowly. Although mass films are garnering huge numbers, critically fans aren't exactly going gaga over them . I see this as a welcome change. We shouldn't abandon mass altogether but use it to further elevate a solid story and screenplay.

I know what I would say would have no impact on many others commenting here. There were only underwhelming aspects in the film.
The film fails to make any point.
The film showcases social issues, as you mentioned, in a very half baked manner. The resolution of the situation were done as if Vijay Sethupathy had the 40,000 crore in his savings bank account, idle, not put to any use, done!! And how the hell does the loan get repaid, without any formalities from the borrower and bank's side? Foreclosure formalities RIP!
Health Care issues were fixed in 5 hours as if the amenities were just waiting outside the hospital for getting dispatched.
The weapon dealer story?? The Indian Army accepts weapon consignment from a dealer who is a criminal? Who is a Joker. Comes to Army court wearing sweatshirt? And justifies weapon failure saying, foreign language me likha tha, iss liye operate nahi kar paye?? All his guns fails to operate together?? As if they were programmed not to function after that time!! And even after 35 years his pistols do not work. And he was the 4th largest weapon dealer in the world??😂 what was the point atlee wanted to make? Old SRK breaking bones? Ok then a different story would have been enough.
Correct me if I am wrong, Gabbar is Back movie in 2015 has already done the social messaging earlier and in a far more convincing way. Jawan seemed to me a costly, ill directed, I'll executed version of Gabbar with an additional Father Son story. The father son story also doesn't make any impact.

Anirudh songs were good, but he's the master of bgm Vikram, Jailer and Jawan- 3 consecutive wins. Action scenes were well choreographed. He has played such wide range of characters so far and beyond being the king of romance but widely remembered only for it. Difficult to ignore it of course. For the very first time, I find myself disagreeing with a movie review by TRP !!! You are usually so spot-on or maybe i'm the wrong one here. Apart from the CGI, colour scheme and maybe the occasional anirudh bgm I found nothing worthwhile in the movie for it to deserve a top billing(as hard as it maybe, forget SRK for a moment).
Atlee brings nothing new as a director and his creations are always rehashed, inorganic, contrived versions of his Guru's (Shankar) movies. What seemed plausible in a similar MASALA movie like Pathaan fails to convince the audience here. It was like a story written for Vijay, which had to be force-fitted on SRK. Yes there are MASS moments, but the set-up constantly reminds us of Atlee's previous movies and it takes away the charm. A Hindi speaking audience who are new to Atlee's work may find it amusing.
I had wrongly correlated Pathaan's wholesomeness to SRK's improved sensibilities, but I now realise that, that credit should entirely go to Sid Anand.
Jawan is a big disappointment that no amount of paid reviews should be able to save!
But then, this is India... and there are those frenzied, blissfully ignorant ppl who call themselves fans...

However, in the South, similar movies have come before, so it might be a bit familiar to some. It's commendable to see North Indians acknowledging this film. Despite a few cringe moments, other elements in the movie balance it out. I'd recommend watching it in its native language. I also didn't like the instant solutions to years to years of social problems. He literally gave them 5 min or 5hours to solve the issues and they did it. I have seen many South Indian movies and I know the idea of Robinhood who solves problems of society in 5 mins and without any problem sells to them but not to me. Also, the action sequences were as always senseless foor ex- in the last fight Azad and Vikram were fighting with Vijay sethupathi and they were literally circled with Vijay's goons with guns but nobody was shooting on them as if they were waiting ki kab nihattha hero aayega aur hame laat ghuse maar k jameen par girayega. This movie has nothing unique except SRK in a stereotypical South Indian movie doing lots of senseless action and dialoguebaazi. This is not the best movies SRK has worked in neither has his best action sequences as red chillies has produced some really good movies with good action scenes. You are right when you said this movie is half baked.
Banane walo ke dimag me aaya hoga ki agar hum SRK ko le aur wo Aisa Aisa kare to public paagal ho jayegi aur bina script par dhang se kaam kiye unhone jaldbaji me ye movie bana di. Aisa hi feel hua ye movie dekh kar.

Providing simplistic solutions to social and political problems has been a long-time disease of Tamil star directors. This has been the case with Shankar (Gentleman, Indian, Ramana, …).
Great at making big budget action movies, but their take on social problems is very low IQ.

I went to this movie today after watching your review.
I am not sure what is with these paid reviews in RUclips. Everyone is saying that Jawan is a masterpiece. But actually it is a master piece of sh!t.
The director cooked a story with too many elements. It looks like he forcefully tried to inject the emotion and comedy at wrong places. One elevation scene, next one emotional sentiment scene, followed by a punch line or SRK's swag show.
I consider you as a film critic not a samosa critic. Emotion cannot be build with in one scene or just with forced sentimental background music.
    Emotion needs build up.
Take an example of KGF another mass masala commercial movie. There was a scene where hero finds an innocent mother who tries to get the lost bun in the midst of the traffic. I still remember the goosebumps that I felt when I watched the movie. This was an iconic scene. The scene worked out because the film pace was already set from the beginning. The mother sentiment was already shown and by this scene we are already connected to the character and his actions.
This is exactly what is missing in Jawan movie. The movie rushes and feels like we are watching scenes in bits and pieces. There are several jump cuts which abrupts the movie flow.
The comedy timing was terrible. SRK's acting was good. Songs were bad, but the BGM was good. The cast have done their roles. Overall, its a routine masala film.
In telugu there are 100's of films like this. There is an actor named Bala Krishna. He made at least 20 films of this type. Ex: Okkamagadu, parama veera chakra, veera badra etc…

The movie is a CRAP Really, The Screenplay is soo weak, Poor Storyline, There's not even a story but just sequences of social issues covered and its a copy of many movies like the themes of Prison Brek, Money Hiest, Dark Night, Squid Game and wat not.... The social commentry is all over the place and Its just over upliftment of a Star and Fan Service by Atlee.... Honestly a very bad movie Cinematically I rate it 0/10. Thanks and I think it'll be difficult to trust your reviews from now on. 😊

Jawan is one boring and underwhelming many times seen movie. Forced emotions and lack of focus as to what they wanted to convey as a story as it was proceeding. Except hero elevations and slow motion which Atlee does a lot. At least here it was way more less slow motion than his previous Bigil which was another below average movie.
Mufasa and Simba and many such cringe dialogues.
The relationships had a lot of potential for drama and emotion, but wasted them by just speeding it. Poorly written and lazy writing. Vijay Sethupathy's character as a anti-protagonist is the worst written character. Baap SRK portion was just lame.
Atlee copied from his own movies and SSR's Bahubali scenes.

I really don't understand if I missed something or how you actually liked it that much. I felt direction was all over the place, somehow tried so hard to integrate so many social issues with the story and not even one connection was established properly. And I tried so hard to love it till the end but I was not rooting for anyone eventually.
And I'm a big Shahrukh fan like who isn't and I wanted it to work so much but I felt even Pathan made much more sense to me than this and at least I felt connected with the antagonist and protagonist both and their motives and the whole universe of it but in this it just didn't make sense like I'm completely ready to forget the logic and going for the unapologetic mass entertainer but there are so many problems like
    UNDERWHELMING ASPECTS
    1. It's a Jail but they made a mockery out of it
    2. No romantic connection between Shahrukh and Nayanthara like they literally saw each other once and got married
    3. Unnecessary preaching about so many issues and no real connection in the end not even 1% I'm empathatic about farmers, hospitals or voting, like it didn't create any impact that deep that I remember it in future or it stays with me at all
    4. Music tracks are just terrible except Chaleya I think which is ok ok
    GOOD
One thing I have to say the art of entry scenes are actually designed very well be it the opening mummy scene or the train reveal and the best of all the entry of BAAP and I haven't seen a better action set piece and that kind of presence in any Indian movie so 200 out of 100 for that particular pre interval sequence but rest was a really heartbreaking show for me personally.
Maybe another watch will change my perspective.

Atlee's signature story style -backstory, multiple roles for leads and epic elevations for SRK. Slightly worried of the story line/revenge arc tying back to Vijay’s character but solutions or conclusion for social problems don’t have conviction.
Run time only felt jarring in the first half-otherwise a great entertainer. Loved SRKs cheekiness in every role.
