Lyrics:
Do you remember standing on a broken field
White crippled wings beating the sky
The harbingers of war with their nature revealed
And our chances flowing by
If I can let the memory heal
I will remember you with me on that field
When I thought that I fought this war alone
You were there by my side on the frontline
When I thought that I fought without a cause
You gave me a reason to try
Turn the page I need to see something new
For now my innocence is torn
We cannot linger on this stunted view
Like rabid dogs of war
I will let my memory heal
I'll remember you with me on that field
When I thought that I fought this war alone
You were there by my side on the frontline
And we fought to believe the impossible
When I thought that I fought this war alone
We were one with our destinies entwined
When I thought that we fought without a cause
You gave me the reason why
With no-one wearing their real face
It's a whiteout of emotion
And I've only got my brittle bones to break the fall
When the love in letters fade
It's like moving in slow motion
And we're already too late if we arrive at all
And then we're caught up in the arms race
An involuntary addiction
And we're shedding every value our mothers taught
So will you please show me your real face
Draw the line in the horizon
Cos I only need your name to call the reasons why
I fought
When I thought that I fought this war alone ...
come back Alan, i miss you bro. There is still story that needs to be finished
It's funny how fiction reflects reality sometimes.
Alan wake had writers block, now so does remedy games.
Remedy says that Alan Wake 2 will come in 2015 or 2016 =)
The only official word on Alan Wake 2 has come from the creator himself 'when the time is right.' Remedy is busy with Quantum Break right now which is highly ambitious and still doesn't have a set release date. It's possible that game doesn't come out until 2016. If that happens you can forget about Alan Wake 2 until at least 2019. It sucks, I wish it would happen sooner too but the first game didn't sell the way MS would've liked it to, so the series has been shelved for now in favor of something else. At least the new game seems awesome.
+NYYanks2003040506 yeah I was super sad when I saw that...Who cares about Quantum Break GIVE ME ALAN WAKE 2!!!!
+Em-Walkman not earlier than 2018
I love when the song starts to play on radio in game and you're like a saviour killing all the dark fallen creatures with flashlight :)

***** HELL YEAH!!!....I CAN STUNNER THAT GAY SWEDISH FOR YA!! AND THATS THE BOTTOM LINE CUZ STONE COLD SAID SO!!!
This song really defines the game.
You're a one man army fighting off an endless horde of Taken and when you think you're all alone, the light is there to help you.
and Barry, The Sheriff and the Light Lady
While The Last of Us is cited as a game-changer for storytelling in games there are a select few of us that know the truth Alan Wake deserves that crown
The Last of Us 2 is why TLOU deserves it revoked and given to alan wake
@@HyperrealisticLuigi even without the last of us 2 I still personally think alan wake holds it's own against the last of us 1
honestly would've fought you over before TLOU2 but now with the remaster of this masterpiece I can clearly say it's way better over agenda of us 2
@@kirafier3166 and there's people who still defend this game lmao.
The trash of us can't even hold a candle in storytelling to something like Alan Wake
I remember I heard this song during the game and I just stopped to listen to it for the entire thing, SO AWESOME
+Fancy Elk same lol, one of my favorite moments of the game.
Midnight is the best time to play alan wake.
It's not a lake, it's an ocean... I loved this game
I literally got better with Alan's aim as this song got more badass. I remember as the chorus swelled and I capped 4 Taken one after the other with the last shots in my clip.
Man I remember finding the radios and stopping to listen to every song that played. The sequel needs to recapture that magic
Poets of The Fall have amazing range. They can do songs like this, they can do metal as "Old Gods of Asgard", and even COUNTRY, like you hear in Grinder's Blues from the game Rochard. I feel like these guys don't get nearly enough credit.
+SpitefulCrow Poets of The Fall are really underrated, man. They should put out more stuff.
@@cultofgaurav Anyone remembers "Late Goodbye" in MP2? Man I love this band even now!
@@alekjanowski9847 even the in game characters were singing it ha ha 😄
even 12 years later this is still one of my favorite songs, I hope it's coming back for the remake.
I saw that Alan wake 2 (the canon one) is on development and looks so fcking good
Creo que Ghostlight de Poets of the fall 2022 será un tema en el juego. Tiene relación con el primer trailer.
I didn't know who "Poets of the Fall" were until Alan Wake featured them as "The Old Gods of Asgard". I'm glad I know about them now! They're an amazing band!
This song is f***ing magic!!!
PikaLink91 the game is even better
I know. Can't count how many times I've replayed it (and still can't find the last f***ing chest).
This game was amazing. And the soundtrack is awesome
I think a good story and good songs are at the heart of a game but now everybody wants to play action games they don't care about storyline i just don't get it
aadesh sekhon This isn't an action game, this is a survival horror game. This game has the most underrated storyline in gaming though imo.
Killing Spree8 The most *messed up story in gaming history. Very badly written.
Fuzzy Dunlop I can understand the story being convoluted, however that is true about many amazing forms of media and the way they portray their stories such as Lost, Star Wars, Halo, MGS, Half Life, etc. Just because you cannot comprehend the story doesn't mean it's a badly written story... I can take a plethora of amazing quotes that are said in Alan Wake or previous Remedy games like Max Payne that tie into how great the story is.
In a short response -- Not every game plays out and hands out the storyline like it's a piece of cake... Ex: Spec Ops: The Line, Gears, etc.
alejandrothefader
Like he said. Not every game.
idk dude a lot of great games have no action such as Outlast, imscared, Amnesia there are many more and people seem to be getting sick of the same action games releasing every, but I do somewhat agree.
I just played through the game. The moment when you're in this huge garage fighting taken and this song plays on the radio you turned on.One of the best moments in gaming i ever had, i hope Remedy makes a second one.
With the remaster now there’s still hope
Alan Wake 2 is on the way!!
We ate good, damn good
Best game ever *-*
For me he isn't because he had a lot of defaults, I prefer the extansion American nightmere. In it they control far better their game. BUT indeed alan wake have something special ;)
Agree.
One of the best games...
Remedy Games , They all have something speacial , speacially Max PAYNE
Best game Ever !
the lighting in this game still holds up to today. I cant wait for Alan Wake 2
Too bad American nightmare hadn’t been ported
@@ryanhowe6543 Rhemedy is gonna be busy so I can see why we probably won’t get it as of right now
It's not a lake. It's an ocean.
Right
my brother's wife bought him a 360 slim winter 2010 and they had this game packaged in with it as a download. we'd never heard of alan wake before, which was surprising since we both spend so much time playing videogames. upon loading the game for the first time and learning the plot of this game, we were completely blown away. add in all the excellent music, and you have one of the most underrated games of all time ladies and gentleman..bravo...
Best game ever and this song keeps playing with my emotions!
"And here’s a new song from a band that -- they always remind me of our local rock legends, the Old Gods. I couldn’t tell you why, I guess it’s just -- you know, one of those things. Anyway, here’s Poets of the Fall and their latest single, “War""
EPIC SONG FOR A EPICA GAME, HOLY SHIT
@JNMasterMind We are working on a music video! Terms like "mainstream" or "not mainstream" don't really mean much to us. We just make music that feels good to us, and this song is exactly how we wanted it to be.
2021 here, hard times, but this song is still with me and today I dedicated it to my lover.
Thank you for this masterpiece and for your unforgettable combo with Alan Wake ❤
Thanks for making this Song. I recently started playing Alan Wake Remastered, almost done, again. Like 10 Years after playing the Original Game, still a banger of a Song and an Awesome Game.
Man, I love Remedy.
Poets of the fall is an amazing band, just realized that they have even sang that credits song from max payne 2 'late goodbye' seems like remedy knows how to pick good music. :D
Stone Cold Steve Austin Mhm :)
I think Remedy owners are related to this man. :)
Fatih Kan Exactly. XDD
Actually, a fun fact though. The lead singer Marko Saaresto was the Vladimir Lem in the first Max Payne, and the band was officially formed around Max Payne 2 with "Late Goodbye" as their debut song. Poets of the Fall and Remedy Games definitely have a connection, apart from both being Finnish by origin!
@@soumavbose8780 thanks bhai ✌
just the fact that the game's developers created their own songs that fit so perfectly in the plot makes this one of the greatest games on the 360. The songs are excellent, the vocals are powerful, and most importantly, the songs make the battles and game infinitely better.
Another beautiful song from a gorgeous game. This together with Poet and the Muse are the best songs in the game, and one of the best music in the video gaming world.
I was so happy when I turned on a random radio in American Nightmare, only to hear that they had made a new fantastic single, Balance Slays the Demon.
Such an underrated game to be honest! Probably one of the last good story driven horror/thriller games to date! With an excellent soundtrack!
this game will be known as "One of the Greats"
This got me through Afghanistan. I had played Max Payne, and always heard about Alan Wake, but never played. This is top 5 of my favorite games of all time!
I loved this on the radio using flares an fighting the taken it really blended in love it and at the end of the episode didn't skip any of the songs at end of ep this my favourite
Alan Wake 2 on Xbox One

They making Alan wake 2 after theyve done Quantum break.
craig260691 I really hope that the mouth synchronization will be better in Alan Wake 2 though
Im sure it will be,cant wait to play Quantum break.
What about Xbox 360?
It wouldnt be able to run Quantum break.
It's not a lake,
it's an ocean
Ichi Cryptorchid
fucking spoilers...although u won't get it unless u actually complete it
you saying that its a spoiler is actually more spoiler-y then her quote. On glance it just looks like a random quote :p
I miss playing this the 1st time. I couldn’t stop and played for 12hrs without one stop and I beat it in one sitting. I then had a lucid nightmare of a situation similar to this game later when I finally slept. LOL that was one crazy day. I miss being a teenager.
One of the most incredible Song ever made for a game. And the game ... oh my gold!
One of my favourite songs from a video game :)
I think the reason this game got such bad reviews is it doesn't fit what everyone want. They all want online Multiplayer and new features, weapons and shit.
To me its about the Story. This game was good but it was hated by so many.
Yes it wasn't an FPS, Yes it had no Multiplayer, yes it lacked a load out of weapons and stuff but who cares? ITS ABOUT The Emotional Impact on it. The Story of a man who's life and marriage is falling apart that ends up screwing up and then doing everything he can to save himself and his wife. To do the right thing that is a true Story. The impact it had to see her rise from the lake with no sign of Alan was crushing to know he was still under there with the witch. To know he was willing and may have given his life to save his wife.
As an Ex solider I know how that feels. To be willing to give your life for another.
Just like Hitman Absolution everyone hated it because it wasn't like the Classics what they refuse to realize is a real gamer looks at it for what it was. I like Absolution the best and Alan Wake too. Absolution fit the Story of a killing Machine who is leaving behind what he was made to do to save a young girl because he knew what she was going through in a lab with men experimenting on her that no one should have to go through that again like he did as a kid but no "I wasn't like the other ones so it sucked" WRONG! A true gamer would see it for what it was intended not for what everyone else wants.
The people who hated those games are wrong and need to look at it like real gamers. The people who gave those games bad reviews are wrong!
Honestly, I loved the game since the beginning. The plot was awesome, the game was scary and entertaining. I was so bored of shooting in there, I just wanted to see the story. But then it got so complicated without any proper ending in the main game, than it got couple of DLC´s and I was pissed as hell... Where the hell was the awesome story telling from first and second Max Payne? I´d love to read this game as a book, but without any aditional DLC chapters just as one long complete story (which is awesome by the way)
Petr Říha I agree people need to look more toward the story telling. Yes this game had some problems and the ending was a little disappointing just like Max Payne 3 I loved that for its story and game play but the ending was a little disappointing although watching Becker get his ass blown sky high was good served him and the UFE right.
But I see your point on it making a better book than game. It was an ambitious take on games and a new way of doing things some games like that do well like Heavy Rain it did very well for being an emotional story driven plot. It would make a better movie but as for a game with choices that effect the whole story it was really good.
Finally a real gamer amongst all these COD fanboys.
gandi ganda If you meant me I thank you in Truth I hate Call of Duty.
My son an I actually call it "Call of shitty"
Haha thats really awesome, too bad most kids think of call of duty as "next gen" or as having advanced graphics, when it actually runs on a modded Quake engine from early 2000 :-(
I still remember the scene when you turn the radio on and fight a bunch of dudes to this song. It was epic.
Yeah that was really cool
good game, good song
+Zane Capps Good Day,Good Comment :D
MY FAV PART !!!!!! Literally was so scared of the game until i got to this part. but as Alan Wake, i am the only one who can do this. So i moved forward and loved this game
I remember hearing this song for the first time when I almost finished the game and it felt like such a culminating song after going through Alan's journey through the dark ;'))
Today I walked through a woodcutters' clearing in a forest and there was some timber lying around, a small bulldozer, and it was somewhat desolate, so it immediately reminded me of Alan Wake.
Just finished the game, my favorite moment of it all was finding the radio playing this while fighting off some dark ghouls lol. I even recorded it with the xbox game dvr
Yusuf Bari lol
And don't forget the stage battle at the Anderson Farm, set to the song Children of the Elder God.
3:04 don't mind me, just marking one of the most uplifting motivational music scores ever
I heard the song before playing Alan Wake, (and was stoked that it was on Alan Wake) the song itself is beautiful! never found a band that could move me with their lyrics or bring tears to my eyes, so yeah, hits me that deep everytime.
Awesome tune !! these guys remind me of the old gods of asgard !! :)
What a game and soundtrack! Can't wait til October!
Every time i hear this song, it makes me wanna play through AW again. Perhaps that's what i'll be doing this weekend :)
This song did not have to go this freakin hard!!!! Goodness! 💯
Alan Wake chads we won
this is such a good song. They are such an underrated band
I really hope this game gets a sequel eventually...
Agreed. The ending just feels rushed and anti-climatic, probably for a reason. Still, it was a hell of a trip. The sequel should focus on Alice and Barry's returning to Bright Falls in an attempt to find him.
Mike Paul
The ending was beautiful.
Mike Paul the ending was a play on stephen king novels.most end with a loose cliffhanger that implies something dark is afoot.
I have to say I was expecting a little more.
Love this game! Story was nice and all the forest.. Best to play in surround ;-)
The ending was short in a way, but ok. But if it came a sequel, that's thrilling! :-)
When I heard this song pop on on the radio in Alan wake, I found myself thinking "man...I wish there was a fight right now to go with the song..." ...And then out of nowhere...Taken. Everywhere.
And the fight was glorious.
I played this game 3 times in Pc and Xbox360 but i will complete it again soon. I just love this fucking game.
i dont understand, how, many people, many, many, many, in fact, had poets brought to their attention by Alan Wake, yet, this song has less views than many other songs by poets?! ah well, this song rocks, as well as virtually every other song by them, havent heard one song yet which i truly dont like, many great songs, this really is TRUE GREAT MUSIC!!! :D
cool how max payne 2 and this had a poets of the fall song. I wonder if they'll put one in quantum break.
A loyal Alan wake fan here from 2010 🇩🇿❤️
These type of story driven game is missing in this generation of games
now its all about open world nothing to do shitty games
@@BEDISB10 Now games about lgbt, feminists and etc.
Rip.
@@Tommyknocker. 💯
This is a good work for a night person.
epic game
I FIGURED OUT WHAT THIS SONG'S MEANING IS (Please don't hate if you did too) When I thought that I fought this war alone (Alan Wake), you were there by my side on the frontline (Most other characters) When I thought that I fought without a cause (Alan before he met the first person who knew what was going on), You gave me the reason to try (when chracters give hints to Alan) Also: Turn the page, I need to see something new (Alan finding the manuscript pages)
Every time I listen to this song I feel like the world is ending and shit :/
The world is ending. You are lucky if you hit a deer on your way to work. That is what this song makes me feel like. Shouldn't be listening to it when driving to work early in the morning... ;)
I feel nothing but possibility and hope against all odds. :)
I remember when Max payne 2 came out. It was IT! Remedy Entertainmet always makes good games! ;) And the soundtrack in Max Payne 2 was amazing too.
Damn why did I remember this
Poets of The Fall is why I love Remedy Entertainment so much, they make great games together, MAX PAYNE , ALAN WAKE!
This song + rainy mood = epic
I'm finally on summer break.
FIRING THIS GAME UP AGAIN. WHOO!
Give us a sequel!!
I just heard this song on a radio and I just had to pause the game and search it on youtube
One of my top five video game moments of all time. For me, it's actually close behind the rock concert in this game. God damn, this was a good fucking game.
Anybody that hasn't played this game: eventually, you're going to come across a room. This room has a radio. Turn the radio on, and you're in for one of the biggest fights of the entire game. Enjoy it - the music fits better than any soundtrack placement in any game in video game history.
I just got to this part and I brainfarted and forgot that I had a shotgun in my inventory.
+Tarik360 Yeah, me too. I was stunned by the song and I didn't even notice I've been already killed by monsters.
+monaker1 same lol
Awesome doesn't even describe the experience I had playing this game.
sehr schöner Soundtrack auf den mich hier mein Sohn aufmerksam gemacht hat.echt schön.
yeah, i totally agree with you and thank you for talling me why the game wasnt delayed a couple months. i do hope that the sequel will gain the respect i belive it will be worth
Poets of the fall one of the best band i ever discovered i felt lucky in alan wake masterpiece ❤️
im playing it now! and all i can say is. this game really good. mic did a good job in this game. the graphics is really great. and the story wow!
What made this game's story great was how it wasn't just told through the cutscenes. The gameplay mechanics and timing reinforced the tone. Working a generator to get a light going, with the Taken barring down on you felt like something out of a horror novel.
This game must be GOTY. For the story that explains, for the town bright falls, for the music. For everything! It looks like a movie, but like a very good movie!
I grew up listening to rap music and although I never disrespected any other type of music I never dipped my ears in anything else. After playing the fantastic game that is Alan Wake and beating each episode I got to listen to a amazing soundtrack and so I want to say thanks to Remedy for not only making this BRILLIANT game but also for introducing me to songs I would never have heard of or listened to before. :-)
Just got the game for christmas and it is the best game i have played this year. It gets Game of the Year in my book.
I never really heard about this game until a friend on Xbox played it and said that i should check it out and i am glad i did this is an Amazing game and i hope there will be a second one.
ALAN WAKE IS SUCH A PIECE OF ART!! ALAN WAKE=THE BEST GAME EVER MADE!!
Alan Wake was amazing. I actually was a little scared to leave light areas. I never get scared! This game was totally immersive; the characters were given so much life! Towards the end, I could totally feel Alan's frustration and exhaustion. "It's not a lake. It's an ocean."
Alan Wake was the best game I ever played, bar none.
alan wake is one of THE best games ive ever played.
this game is perfect to me, this is the only game i played that at the end i just sat there and felt satisfied, it is the only game where i felt like they did everything right.
man, when i played this game, i never heard of these bands before, but now im in love with all of them, but this is the main song that i just love ! ♥
I'll have to play this Alan Wake.
+Kou Pally and? Did you?
Remedy's games is the reason why it got me into poets of the fall
I hope y'all who think you fight this war alone, have someone there by your side on the frontline. :)
Alan Wake is the best game ever! This is one of a few games i've had desire to play again in the nightmare difficult
Nice music, good lyrics, it was really pleasure to hear it
Just completed Alan Wake on PC... It's "the" game that makes you think you had Xbox 360 and played it when It came out. Man... I had no Idea what I was missing. Loved it, truly one of those games that deserve to remain in your PC forever as well as in your top shelf, tagged as "favorite".
Hopefully, Remedy won't take too long to release American Nightmare on PC. It deserves every penny... Top notch game.
after i heard this song in the game, i couldn't stop listening to it, Alan Wake rocks, and so does the music!
This is the best song in the game!!! When I finish an episode I omit the song, but in the end of episode 5 I ear all the song, wow!!
alan wake is a story that begs to be told forever more~
This is easily one of the greatest games ever made and easily in my top five
The actual video to this song is great. A live action version of the game. Putting this song is that awesome game was a fucking win.
never played the game, came here cause i like poets of the fall, and now im using the lyrics in art because they're so moving ^^
This song still gives me goosebumps, the warehouse where it plays and the concert are my favorites.
