How I Built My Backyard Water Fountain

  • This video is an overview of the process I used to design and build my outdoor backyard DIY water fountain. This water feature was not the easiest thing to build but it was doable and has been running for almost a couple years now.
    The glass backdrop is an optional personal preference, I used this type of glass instead of plastic based glass because when researching I found that they may start turning yellow and get damaged from being in the sun. It also helps to make the glow effect from the leds at night a bit more vibrant. The glass used in this project was found on facebook marketplace a local company was trying to make space and sold me the glass for cheap.

    I really like your work and watch all 19 minutes without skip any.
    I like the way you pointed out some mistakes you did and it is very help to whoever want to do waterfall like your. Question, is it more safety to use tempered glass?
    You should use solar panel to avoid trench for wire and solar is cheaper.
    Last, I liked and subscribed. I am going to watch more of your RUclips. Keep it coming brother.

    • @wadesminutes
      @wadesminutes  2 года назад

      It may not be as safe to use the tempered glass but I used it because when I was researching it seems like the plastic based glass eventually starts turning yellow from being outside in the sun and being in constant contact with the water. The glass is also really optional. I do like the solar idea but since I want to use it at night as well it would also need battery power. Thanks for subscribing I really appreciate it. I will be working on the planter video next.

    You could have drilled holes in the pvc and turned the pipe to point the holes towards the glass.

    • @wadesminutes

      I agree definitely an option that someone could use, I used the corrugated sheet in my case because I was hoping to achieve a different smoother type of water flow in the center.

    How can you take care the water from algae?

    • @wadesminutes
      @wadesminutes  2 месяца назад +2

      There is no sunlight getting into the water storage bin so I believe that's part of the reason I have never had algae issues so far, I also occasionally add a little chlorine to the water.

      As long as you use wood that is durable and you treat it to resist water and insects you should be ok. The fountain is still running in 2024 with minor water damage to one of the less resilient side boards but the main structural pieces are the same as day one.
