Synthetic turf increases ambient temperature by 10-15 degrees & surface temp up to 200. Natural turf decreases ambient temp by up to 10 degrees. Synthetic turf also gives off carcinogenic vapors when in direct sunlight at 80+ degrees.

@tarasuazo3984 My point is that everybody's jumping all over this girl about the choices she made in her backyard. Instead, offer her a different solution to the plastic turf. Maybe they can tell her about low-lying grass or slow growing grasses.

@DoubleDSheree houses don't have heat? Car tires? There are so many other things that destroy the environment besides a piece of fake turf. Aka football stadiums. Way bigger than what she placed down. Everyone is jumping on her happiness with negative comments. Maybe offer her a different idea like. Slow growing grasses.

Nonnative lawns are way worse for the environment. That’s why California is such a fire stricken hellhole right now is all the fancy lawns and stupid almond orchards. All those nonnative plants suck up all the water and make the wilderness way more dry than it should be and then what should be a small needed natural fire turns into a massive destructive wildfire that destroys thousands of acres. These turf lawns are perfect for a fair number of states.

The lazy people ways of doing gardening. I'm so glad there are people who actually love gardening. Because you could have had and even more beautiful yard just by rolling up your sleeves and putting in the work Because the old garden could have been reallymagical. . This is for peope who want instant gratification.
I don't like the process sometimes however when I repaired my lawn and did my own landscaping using environment friendly
Products. This is fine for those who don't have the time nor enjoy the upkeep.
Or those aren't physically able to put in the work.

  • @Whoever68

Yeah fake grass “looks” good but it’s the worst product to have in your garden. Firstly, it’s far hotter than real turf. You won’t ever sit on it on a hot sunny day. Secondly, the plastic breaks down into small particles which then run into the soil and eventually washes into creeks, and waterways. If your garden gets enough light then plant real grass. If your garden is heavily shaded and real grass won’t grow, plant it out with plants that like those conditions or pave it. I would never waste my money on fake grass despite how good it looks and it’s low maintenance.

Turf? The time it took to do all of that work, I definitely would've put grass seed. Real grass would've looked really nice. I have seen several of her videos, and I find her creative ideas odd. I give her credit on her handy girl skills though.

No, thank you. I will keep my grass and flowers for all the wild animals and the bees that pollinate everything.

You could have transformed this into a beautiful wildlife sanctuary that attracts birds, bees, rabbits etc, etc.
You could have added a small pond with a tranquil waterfall, a cobblestone path , added a fairy garden …… I’m sorry, but that just looks tacky the way it is now.
