Another reason why Lor'themar wouldn't find allies within the Alliance were the exiles who still call themselves high elves. It was they who warned Stormwind and Ironforge about Kael'thas alliance with Illidan and the Blood Elves habit of draining magic from living beings, and the humans were disgusted. The dwarves sent spies to the Eversong Woods and the night elves sent a small army to the Ghostlands, making it more difficult for the blood elves to retake the land from the Scourge. It was clear to Lor'themar that the Alliance were no longer friends, so he had all the more reason to join the Horde.
@@itsjustaline Back when the Blood Elves were first introduced they had two racial spells. One was a mana drain that built charges. You used these charges to then use arcane torrent which was just an aoe silence. A group of blood elves could fully drain any spellcaster in PvP back then.
Lor'themar is one of those characters whom I suspected didn't even have enough backstory to make a lore video out of. lor'themar and liadrin's are two with some of the best character back stories (tied in with quel'thelas' amazing lore too) i wasn't too keen on the gaudy belf aesthetics at first but their stories warmed me up to them so much. Beyond the good old WoW cliches like corruption by power, we--through lor'themar and liadrin--see both the resilience of a besieged people AND an active redemption journey that examines a very personal and realistic struggle with faith.
Wooo finally hear some more about Lor'themar. He's been a favorite character of mine since BC, just the whole look and aspect of him, being thrusted into leadership with kael leaving. I hope he gets more screentime and love here in BFA

I've been binging every blood elf related video of yours that I could in hype for the heritage armor and I am very happy to see that one has been made of Lorthemar as I was just wondering about him.
So happy you did Lor'themar, I've been hoping you would as I've watched the other Blood Elf lore ones you've done and really wanted to see one specifically about Lor'themar (even if a lot of it is covered in other videos to a point). I'm hoping there will be more Blood Elf lore in the near future as well, since Lor'themar doesn't seem to do much these days...
It's not like they are deeply involved in much militarily either, they treat the Horde the way they did the Alliance, really, provide enough aid not to be considered token, but keeping tgeir relative distance, at least until BfA brought the War again to their doorstep. Sylvanas pretty much forced them to take an active role again, and the reforms to how Horde leadership works now, should keep them a little more involved.
Lor'themar banishes the High Elves for not wanting to live the way he wants them, and they join the Alliance and starts fighting against their own people. Lor'themar banishes the Void Elves for not stopping their meddling with the Void, and they join the Alliance and starts fighting against their own people. I'm starting to see a pattern here. I wonder what new Elf sub-sect he'll banish in the future.
I love how the sunwell is in wc3 some random fountain in the middle of nowhere while in wow its big pool in building :D i know it was rebuilt but still
I remember in cataclysm, lor'themar had a voice line that said "As regent lord of kael'thalas" funniest shit ever. His voice actor was quite blood elfy too. The one we got now sounds abit more... manly.
Lor'the-who?! The first few times I did Vol'jin's death scene, Lor'themar would always load in as "Unknown" while every other NPC would load in with their name. I always found it quite comical.
Ooh! I like blood elves and elves in general. I watched the Kaelthas video yesterday. Now I watch the Lorthamar videos. I enjoy it so far. Lorthamar has lived through a lot of blood elf history. He fight against trolls. He fought against Scourge. He was around during the explosion of the Sunwell. Now I know Lorthamar has an eyepatch due to his encounter with the Scourge. I wonder whether he has a large scar on his belly due to his encounters with trolls. The Ghostland trolls are so mean and nasty. I would like to see more of what happens to Lorthemar. This guy is so cute just like blood elf dudes in general.
This is a random thought, but thinking about illidans imprisonment of "10,000 years" yada yada... Doesnt that make the burning of teldrassil hit you alittle harder nobbel? i mean I feel like lore implies that elves do not really die of old age, and that the elves that died at the burning couldve been thousands of years old. For me, i feel like this kind of huge fact is glossed over. i understand that genocide is genocide, but knowing that elves rarely reproduce and that the people that were killed were centuries old... thats crazy

Question why isn't Lor'thremar king elect of Silvermoon? He's been Regent Lord for so long... simply standing in for... whom exactly? The Sunstriders are all dead. So I'm thinking, make the guy king already ffs!
Funny how Blood Elves and Nightborne are in Horde for the same reason and both Races have so much in Common tip everything even the Story Also Kael'thas and Elisande made the same mistake for joining the Legion
You clearly never played warcraft3 those wells were used to heal and gain mana for your army in warcraft 3 you controlled a entire army so clearly it could not be a single person view like in wow.
Dude, what...? I am talking about the visuals. In canon lore (and in WoW) the Sunwell is this massive pool of pure energy. It's contained within this huge, ornate structure on an island of the coast of Silvermoon. Getting there requires a journey by boat, and you then have to pass a lot of guards to get there, seeing as it's the most holy place for the High/Blood Elves. In WC3 it's an average sized fountain on a public square. A fountain that glows a little bit. There is a part in the Arthas book where Arthas uses Frostmourne to freeze the waters allowing is army to march across (essentially he uses Path of Frost). That sounds epic. But in WC3, none of that is necessary. It's just there, in the open. Being a fountain.
"Lor'themar knew the horde was different to the one they fought against" oh well, if only others would have had that much knowledge or intelligence to come to that conclusion...
@SamTheFallenSon 69 Oh I agree that she is plain evil now. The motives are different than the old horde, but she uses them/Tries to use them to basically kill everything on Azeroth. And while you can sort of understand why, I still don't like the way the story is written right now. Giving a faction an evil leader is just something I personally don't like (and they even killed off Vol'Jin for that.), in the past she had her moments where she did all right, but right now, she's not really redeemable in my opinion. To me, there are only a few possibilities left: - Kill her off (which would be possible, since Nathanos could lead the Forsaken, but he also is just a one dimensional character), but I doubt that since she is propably still considered a fan favorite, and I don't think Blizzard would kill her - Have her leave the horde and be a next villain, have another character take her place as the warchief (Saurfang would be really good). But I also doubt that, since you would need a new Forsaken leader, and Nathanos would follow her - Try to explain her actions (I.E. the war and the burning of Teldrassil) with a REAL reason. But there is none that I don't think is lazy or boring (like Old god corruption or her so far reason: survive) I think right now they will propably go with a really boring reason or ignore her actions at the start of BfA like they ignored Hellscreams actions during Warlords...
@SamTheFallenSon 69 Oh I totally agree. And don't get me wrong, I personally like the anti hero type if the character is well written, but she is way beyond that. I don't really mind to much if she is alive or not at this point. I wouldn't be to sad if she actually dies and we get a good warchief for the horde. But I am not sure if Blizzard is willing to do that. The thing that I am not a fan of is the basic idea of writing evil characters into player factions. And certainly not if it is the same faction several times.
@@Rakshiir and if only others would also realize, that the Alliance in game is not the same Alliance that betrayed them(Garithos was Alliance of Lordaeron, not Alliance of Stormwind). With both of Alliance and Horde now being different than the ones they were before said, I think there's a possibility that the way conflict of BFA will be resolved may be Sylvanas being killed/exiled from the Horde, and if the latter is the option, maybe Alliance and the Horde can have peace, and instead of Horde-Alliance conflict, there would now be Horde & Alliance vs Sylvanas's followers conflict, which maybe would be reflected in game mechanics, like ability for Horde and Alliance races to visit each other cities and go on dungeons together, and Sylvanas's faction would get some new capital, maybe she'd overtake Icecrown Citadel. I dunno, just a theory.
@@Kubapajonczek In theory, I'd like the idea. In practice I think if they give Sylvanas her own faction, it would be a NPC faction. Because forcing people inside the horde to split up into Horde and Sylvanas is something I don't think Blizzard would do. This could mean people in some guilds would have to choose to leave the guild or join a faction they don't like to stay in the guild for example. I don't see them doing something like that to be honest. Giving people of both factions the ability to play together would be something I like, not that I know many people from the other faction in my realm pool, but it could be interesting for the ones I know, or other people. But they would have to limit this maybe to friend list or something like that, to avoid some of the playerbase who might start to missbehave because they meet someone from the other faction in the group. Those people might not be in the majority, but we all know that those players exist.
