Sorry to hear about this. Same happened to me with an Hermes scarf, I bought from Etsy. The logo was on the wrong side; I had a picture of the real one. Etsy customer service helped me get my money back.
Lesson learned. I will only buy scarves from Hermes stores. Not worth the few dollars saved on re-sale.
Hi Stella~So glad you caught those fakes! PLEaSE be sure to report that seller once you get your refund so that eBay knows to protect others from that seller. Sounds like they do this often where they are selling for a friend who supposedly buys a lot of Chanel. IF that were true, their friend would know that even the packaging was fake. there are SO babycakes being sold. I too was scammed years back on a T& Co item from eBay. ** I thought eBay authenticates high end designer goods nowadays. ** Hope you find your genuine Chanel earrings. 💖💖

Thank you for sharing your personal experience. Chanel does everything precisely, accurately and consistently. They are super cute earrings though. If I want to buy a fake I will buy a fake no questions but to sell it as the real deal and it's not, then that is deceptive.
This is mail fraud. Stella, please file as complaint with the us postal inspection service. If they did it to you, I’m sure they do it to someone else.

So sorry this happened to you!! But thank you for making such an informative video.. When shopping on ebay always make sure to check out seller reviews/profile and what else they're selling.. I've found some gems but had to do a lot of sleuthing.. also make sure you report that seller! they may try and relist those earrings and pull one over on someone else

This just happened to me. I purchased a Louis Vuitton key chain. The pictures were of the real thing but I got sent counterfeit I was so upset. Thankfully I got my money back
Wow! Thanks for sharing! I was able to spot the difference. I was given an Hermès Kelly Bag. I was so stressed having it because it was from the days when it came out. I did take it to the Hermès store but they wouldn’t tell me.
I actually gave it to a friend that’s used it daily. I seriously felt so much better once I gave it away!

Thank you so much for this video you have just saved me getting ripped off with a similar pair of those earrings I have just purchased from a pre loved store lucky I am able to return them for a full refund. I was put off already the fact there was no box as they are supposedly from the 22p collection but benefit of doubt the actual earrings were slightly tarnished plus they were dangle heart’s that weren’t fully soldered so I really do thank you take care x

I just bought a Chanel wallet from eBay and they're shipping it to an authenticator before it gets to me. Did you have that option with the earrings? I think they have to be over $500 before authentication is included in purchase price. But I will be checking the packaging with an eagle's eye when I get it, for sure! You just saved me!! I was so excited to buy my first pair of Chanel earrings and I've been loving them for 1 year. I honestly thought they were authentic because I bought them off Poshmark and the ad said authentic. I recently bought another pair off Ebay. I also bought 2 x more as gifts from Ebay. Oh my goodness!!! I think they are all fake! I just looked over the box and items in the first pair I ordered, that I have been thinking are authentic for over a year, and the font on the box was the first sign. Almost identical to the fake here. I measured the edges around the font and it is off centered. I opened the box and the inside of the flaps is velvety (fake). The box was also hard to open. You can see how everything has been cut and glued together. The last tell tale sign was the booklet. It is cut so crooked!! I didn't even know that was in the box as it was underneath. They included a "gift receipt" and it looks real, however it is on a thick paper, not thin receipt paper. I opened the booklet and they straight up cut across the font! It was so misaligned that the beginning of the next section was cut and showing at the bottom. I'm absolutely sick to myself and crushed! I feel so silly! I'm so grateful for your video. Good news is that I purchased all of it through my CC and I think Poshmark and Ebay will help no doubt. I'm just so sad. I'm going to have to return the new pair I got off Ebay because I have a strong feeling those are fake as well. So so sad, that the counterfeit industry is doing this to folks. Thank you so much for your fabulous Vlog. But I’m wondering… I just went and checked my Chanel earrings that my Dad bought me from London in the late 80’s when I had just finished school. So, I went and looked -and no numbers on the Earrings. -THEN I went and looked at my Chanel choker (which I KNOW is real because I bought it on one of my visits to NY!) -& THAT one doesn’t have any numbers on it either -but, I know it’s real, because I bought it from Chanel myself! Then also, the earrings from my Dad, -Dad doesn’t do ‘fake’ -& the authenticity card is with it, -But, no numbers!! If I was you, I would take it to Chanel & get them to look at it. (Tell them your Dad bought it for you & you’re just checking!) What have you got to lose? Maybe it’s not fake, maybe you scared the guy & he has no idea, but please TAKE it to Chanel -& I would LOVE to know what they say! If you remember me, (I’ve been watching ‘Fly With Stella’ for many years, when you, Bart & Frannie were based in NY for years & NY is my fave place on earth!! So much so, I’m taking my sister & sister in law there to introduce them to NY in September & I am so excited! (We live in Australia, so it’s a BIG trip -this time it’s 3 flights -36 hours long! -Last time it was 27 hrs, so it’s getting longer!!) Hey Stella, thanks for sharing your experience. Sorry you got scammed, but glad you bought enough real Chanel things to know better. Scamming seller busted by you! Too bad there are lots of sellers on eBay and Poshmark selling fakes, and even if reported, the platforms don't do much (although eBay is better). I suggest you report this buyer to eBay and also list their eBay seller name in your video or comments. A few months ago I got scammed on eBay by someone selling new Pandora items (correct item #s etc). When it arrived, total fake. I have an identical item and was able to compare, but many people don't know better or cannot authenticate.

Thank you!! I purchased a pair of earrings on Ebay and had them in the bag for a few months. I saw your video and I had the same fake bag and I could not see the etching. I contacted Ebay and after a couple of days I spoke to someone who said it was too late for them to step as well as informed me that the seller is no longer an Ebay seller. Ebay advised me to contact Paypal credit. I did so but thinking this was a way to get me off the phone but to my surprised they opened a case and gave me a temporary refund and gave the seller 2 billing cycles to respond. The seller never responded and I got my money back!!

Ebay you can file and report it. PayPal is good at helping you get your money back
Agreed. EBay has taken so much criticism for participating in the selling of fakes. They should be sending your money to you immediately.

While I definitely appreciate you showing this level of detail to determine a fake item from an authentic luxury item, I also wonder if this same detail will allow a scammer to perfect a fake. Glad you will be getting your money back.

You have to assume everything on eBay is fake. If you’re buying luxury jewelry on eBay, there must be a reason. Or, you’re like Stella and you have so much money, it doesn’t matter. So, Stella sent them back, and now someone else will buy them, and probably not know they’re fake, and be happy with them. I wonder why she didn’t report the seller so they can’t continue to sell fake items? Maybe she did, who knows?
Very true! After watching this video I was trying to research and there isn't a lot of information where you can look at what a real box looks like, or a real receipt, etc. Seems like it might be taken down to prevent that info from getting to the fraudsters. I just learned I've been purchasing fake Chanel earrings off Poshmark and Ebay! 4 x pairs. I am going to return them all and splurge from a reputable seller. Lesson learned!

Besides the flower covering the lettering on the fake, I couldn't tell a difference in the lettering.
If you contact eBay, they will refund your money if it’s in a short window of when you received them. They are great at standing by the buyer in these instances. Let us know if you tried to return them and your experience with eBay! Thanks for sharing your excellent tips!

The majority of the comparison is on the packaging. Who cares?! No one is looking at the package when you’re out and about. The fact that your issues isn’t even on the jewelry itself (e.g., weight, color) and just the stamping says it all. Chanel isn’t worth the mark up price. The issue is that the person sold it as authentic instead of being upfront and selling it as a replica with the appropriate price

If the packaging is fake, so is the product. A lot of effort went into creating the fake packaging. After you get the refund, send them your video. Very informative.
Sorry this happened to you, Stella. I would not continue looking for these earrings. Every time I would wear them, I would get triggered and remember the whole fake episode. Maybe you are different and can put it behind you.

This happened to me on eBay. It was a beautiful piece of jewelry from Tiffanys. All of the packaging was fake. The piece seemed really legit. I brought it my local Tiffanys store and they were able to tell me it was real. I still didn't believe it so they sent it away and it came back real. That being said I will never buy from eBay again for something in the thousands of dollars.

I think the "real REAL" of Stella nearly caught ithe scammer in his own trap, snaring those fake earrings right back into their $1.99 WalMart black gift bag with their tawdry tie strings, fuzzy labeling (I mean, the gardenia on the bag is so fake I could spot if from Missouri!) and clumsily gummed edges. This adventure has been an opportune moment of consumer grace for you, for your viewers and a big ol' punch in the nose to anyone who messes about with our girl, Stella! Scammers ... beware :-(. !!
Wow, you have a great eye for detail! But the unfortunate reality is that people who don’t have an authentic Chanel product to compare to may fall for the fake, right? To be fair, even you ordered the fake earrings and didn’t realize they were fake until you compared the packaging to authentic Chanel packaging you had on hand. Fakes are getting too good, which is why I no longer buy pre-loved items.
I hope u turned them into ebay to prevent them from continuing to scam others. Ebay will shut them down!
*QUESTION* Did he actually give you your money back? or did you ship and lose the earrings too? What a stressful experience. Only you Stella could go through this and still be a shining bright sparkly star.
If you pay through something like PayPal you can usually get your money back pretty easily. Their customer service is even better than Ebays from my experience and at least here in Germany I've only had excellent experiences with Ebay customer service.
Please name the seller and save others.
You better call your credit card and hold the charge.
I think you should go work with the fake one to fix all there mistakes
I learned my lesson - DON'T PURCHASE LUXURY ITEMS FROM EBAY! I purchased three pairs of David Yurman earrings on Ebay from three different vendors. I own about 30 pairs so I know my Yurman. Two of the pairs were fake and one was real. Luckily I could return the fakes. Ebay is NOT worth the risk. I now only purchase from pre-loved sites and stores (who authenticate), buyers who I know, or the maker themselves.
