Awesome! Just found this video, going through a steep learning curve with Cubase. I knew about using a DAW to send MIDI to a device (I use a Helix), but I could not figure out how/where to actually build the CC and PC commands. Your video KNOCKED my socks off! Exactly what I needed. Thanks! Am subscribed!
Great video! FWIW all of this will work with the Axe-Fx III BUT the Axe-Fx III doesn't have fixed midi CC"s - you can program them to be whatever you want.
Excellence! You really take control over the Axe with that USB connection, I’m impressed. A lot fewer restrictions and limitations as compared to the MIDI port we’ve grown accustomed to. As I understand it, audio can also transfer to/from over that same USB connection, allowing you to send out a recorded guitar track to the Axe and processing a reverb/delay effect which would track separately.
Which thread are you talking about in particular? I am able to access this thread: forum.fractalaudio.com/threads/how-to-controlling-modifiers-in-the-axe-fx-ii-with-cubase-daw.77009/. The other link is just some basic guide for windows driver installations, Its not accessible for me too, but I don't think that's really important to follow for this. Driver installations should be straightforward. Hope this helps.
Great Video! All of this info helped me accept my AFIII Keeps reverting or defaulting to channel 128 before and after midi event sent to the unit. So its sitting at 128 midi event plays it switches to 001 scene 001 stop playback and its defaults back to 128. Is there a way to stop it from defaulting to that channel ?
While waiting for your response i figured it out. Its was the midi program banks and presets setting on the channel. But ...... Why are the scenes reverting after midi ?
Sorry for the late response, but since I don't have an Axe FX 3, I am not sure abou the issue you are facing. Maybe you can post it on the Fractal forums, lots of great folks there to help out. Again, apologies I could not be of help! But I really appreciate your kind feedback!
I think you can use the normal in place midi editor as well to achieve this as well. You can add the various CC options like I do for the wah and use them. Hope this helps.
@@GurtejSinghGuitar I was able to figure out how to change the banks, but I havn't been able to figure out how to change the individual scenes per each bank. Oh, BTW I'm using the Axe III as well.
Awesome tutorial, is it possible to remote control an mfc101 with midi while using rj45 for manual control ? Axe fx2 still the best IMHO, very nice production too. Thank you.
hey man great videos i just subscribed... Do you know the advantages and disadvantages of using another audio interface, instead of just using the axe fx as the only audio interface?
Thanks a lot for your support! Appreciate it. The only challenge I faced with the Axe FX 2 as an audio interface is around recording my voice. I record my voice when I do my videos and just with the Axe FX as an audio interface that was not possible, hence I feel a separate audio interface absolutely helps in my case.

so helpful ! thank you so much !
Glad I could help you out. Thanks a lot for your kind feedback.
The thread you provided doesn’t exist anymore, I’m not able to determine axe fx configurations to register the audio via midi output.

Regarding the wah automation. Can you control that via the usb cable or do you need to connect the midi cable as well?
I am pretty sure you can just do it with a USB cable, I dont use a MIDI cable from the Axe FX to my Audio interface.

how do you do this with Cubase 10.5 Elements version? It don't see the list editor that you described.
I think you can use the normal in place midi editor as well to achieve this as well. You can add the various CC options like I do for the wah and use them. Hope this helps.

Would you be doing similar automation video with Studio One DAW software any time soon?
I can surely try if I ever get my hands on Studio One, but I guess the steps would pretty much be the same, just slightly different flow perhaps.
I’ve tried this for helix and it works for studio one but it doesn’t allow to export the midi file with the midi data .
Are all of these possible with the axe ultra?
Most of it should be, but I don't own the unit so I can't really say for sure.
