As much as I also love Backrooms as they came to be, I'm not going to lie that this octopus was one of the best representations of that version of Backrooms that is livable, but I have to say that it was cool here because it truly appeals to the absurd, but with something that we are used to in our world only in an unnatural way and that's what Backrooms are for me, natural spaces but with that very alien out of context, in short this piece captures the best of both interpretations of Backrooms.

Wow, so much gatekeeping. Can we not recognise that good 3D printing (and creating the 3D model by hand from scratch) is an equally valid crafting skill, and appreciate both?
I adore watching crafters like Thalasso creating their models using polymer clay (and there are plenty out there still doing so) but seriously, I'd challenge any one of you to create a decent model in 3D sculpting software and make it look good, let alone do so in no time at all. It can take weeks of designing, printing, redesigning, tweaking etc to get the working end result that looks good.
This is no different from people being art snobs over digital art versus painting/drawing/etc. Or people being snobs over using 3D printing in prop making. Why can't we all just accept that people have talents in different areas and you couldn't do ANY of the things they do, and appreciate everyone's individual skills?
And no, before anyone comes at me, I don't create 3D models so I have no skin in the game here. I have, however, tried modelling in 3D programs for software purposes and it takes far more time and skill than I have, that's for sure.

Thank you for putting in to words the thing that has been bothering me about 'the backrooms'. The scariness doesn't come from boring old 'fear of monsters' - it is from the familiar-yet-unfamiliar, the terrifying mundanity, the idea that it's so bland that it lurks just behind your consciousness at all times without you realising. The addition of monsters always cheapened that uniquely terrifying idea, and removed the thing that made it unique.
That being said - your diorama is astounding and you continue to be one of the best model makers on RUclips, thanks for doing what you do!

As others have commented, the level of artistry you have in the details is incredible. Hand sculpting your fantastic characters, instead of using other methods. Hand painting each of the pool tiles, instead of printing them. It's really inspiring. It's not to disparage other creators, it's simply to admire a technique based on the basic principles of art. Wow. Another amazing piece! It gives me chills! I usually think of octopuses as gentle and curious creatures that generally like humans, because that's what our research has shown, but perhaps one this size would be warped by being trapped alone in the liminal space room; plus he's gotta be getting hungry down there...
I think what I find most appealing about the back rooms is that feeling that you can't shake; the feeling that you're just not quite alone even though you never actually see anyone else. The man who made the videos also made games, and if you have a PC I highly recommend that you go on Steam and check them out! I've watched a few RUclipsrs do playthroughs of both the pool and the office ones and they really are great.
I remember being alone with my mom and sister in our local church for cleaning or something a few times when I was growing up and even though we didn't attend a large church it still had a very eerie vibe when it was empty and the lights were off. My mom was also a nurse at one of the elementary schools, so the first and last few extra days of the school year my sister and I usually spent roaming the mostly empty school and helping teachers take down or put up classroom decorations for each year. I think that's part of the reason that the liminal spaces don't scare me is that as a child I spent time exploring places with the same feeling. I'm someone who is comfortable being alone. When I was very young I used to be a scaredy cat and attached to my older sister, but she would purposefully ditch me either to watch me panic and cry or sometimes just to get some time alone, so I got comfortable going off on my own. She was a bit mean spirited, but it ultimately helped me be a stronger person.

Every inch of this diorama is insanely beautiful and detailed, but I think my favorite small detail you added were the holes in the middle of each of the suckers!! I’ve seen a couple people sculpt octopus/squid tentacles and they often just do the first step of making the suckers concave and don’t think to add the hole that actually allows the suckers to create suction. Without the little holes it looks more cartoonish, which obviously isn’t what you were going for. So it’s great that you included them!!! Even the tiniest, minuscule of details that you put in are recognized and appreciated 💜

I fully agree with you about the over the top creatures in the Backrooms and the vague sense of unease the liminality of the setting invokes. that being said, sir your brain is massive and this is so cool

This is so beautiful and creepy . The level of detail is amazing. Thank you for sharing 11 minutes of this journey with us! I had no idea what the backrooms were until I saw this video and the other, but it seems very interesting xD. I'm sad I didn't see this sooner, but glad that it's here.

It would be cool to see a diorama of the sand worms from dune! I know it’s not underwater, but it would be cool to see the variation and would look amazing.

It's so cool to see you do stuff for The Backrooms!❤️
Amazing work - its really captivating and portrays the uneasy atmosphere really well!
I also agree that the Backrooms dont necessarily need those creatures - they are scary and unsettling on their own 😊
Thank you for sharing this with us!

I've never heard of The Backrooms but I really appreciate the vibe!
I regularly have dreams about becoming lost or hiding in mazes of bathrooms! I think you're right, no monsters are needed, my dreams never have any, but I think it feels really amazing here.
I love octopuses, and the technique for using Sculpey glue (I didn't know that was a thing!) for texture is really amazing!
    ありがとうございました

Look up Kane Pixel's channels. He's a teenager currently creating the most incredible incarnation of The Backrooms lore and highly recommend his work (especially if you also like unfiction and ARGs).

Absolutely beautiful! You captured the 'unreal' and 'uncanny' geography of the Pool Rooms so well! I agree the monsters are not needed to make the BackRooms 'scary', it is the idea of a liminal and dead space that makes them so unnerving. A diorama without the monster and with just your beautiful architecture would be just as good. The monster is very scary too.

Not only are you an amazing artist, you are also completely correct on the modern backrooms being oversaturated by horror movie-like monsters. Truly based

Very cool. making the insides of the octopus out of red resin so I can glow is a great idea. And I'm astonished how much the tiles look like from a real pool :)

My god, this is legitimately unsettling. Like, not straight horror, but a feeling of dread.
