Ryan Lucy , I think the added key tickles really bring out the sub harmonic sustain. I can't seem to find another video of a glockenspiel that sounds this good even a few demo videos of a $3,000 Adam's glock doesn't have this kind of sustain.

My school has the exact same glockenspiel I use for playing, I wish it sounded as pretty as this one, istg when I hit it, it lets out the most horrible screeching sound after the note is played
Would you recommend this glockenspiel and mallets? I used to play a yahama in an orchestra and I miss it. I’ve hear cheap ones which sound so dull so I think that I will need to splash out a bit but I don’t know if I should just get a Yamaha again.

That's beautiful. Many people don't realise how difficult an instrument the glockenspiel is to play by sight-reading in an ensemble with a conductor.

The lyre's origin is glockenspiel. They tried to build a bigger marching lyre frame and added the bells to it. (Marching Lyre is Music Sheet Holder)

You may try a softer mallet. The model I used for this recording was Yamaha ME103. :)
