I wish just once I could run like you do, played 6 hours today in my normal game and got one AK and one AQ, that's it. Saw a flop with an A-10 suited out of position and flopped a nut flush draw and a gutter to the nut str8. Got 3 to 1 to call post, easy call, turn the K for Broadway, get it all in against 2 pair, and as usual the 4-outter hits the river and adios to my chips. Anyway, I'm glad you ran well, maybe sometime this variance will stop, and I'll get in as a 90% fav and actually win.
Hey, Doug. I paused at the accident. I'm here for the poker, but now I'm more concerned for your wife. Sending prayers that no hidden injuries are there. Tell your wife I hope she feels 100% soon. An accident can shake people up a bit. 🙏
How do you play 1/3 for years? You can't pay me to play 1/3. The $5-7 flop drop. Short buys. $50-100 stack. Bad players and etiquette. Limp Limp Limp pots. No one gives actions. No one builds the pot. Everyone is waiting for Pocket aces and kings, hit their sets, or 2 pair. No one ever bluffs. Can't call people down light.
My local game plays like most 2/5 games. Plenty of action, players making moves and deep stacks. Of course there are always some nits around, but game selection is a key factor. When I travel, I play in bigger games.
I know it’s a large ask, but I’d love to see a video one day with every single hand of a session. Like, the 2nd day began and you were magically up $80.. Sometimes, winning that first hand or two is the hardest part for me in a session. Kinda curious how hands like that went, even if it was just folds to a flop c-bet by you.
There are many small pots that aren’t vlog worthy. It is near impossible to condense the boring part of the day and package it into an interesting vlog.
@@dougmccuskerpoker I know, lol i think my issue is i have trouble winning those smaller pots where its comes down to just c-betting and range advantage. i understand why they dont stay in the vid for sure!
Found number 5 on your list interesting. At first, I thought you wouldn't bluff into a strong range. Then I wondered if you meant you would decrease your bluffs when you have a strong range showing on the turn or river. Suspect it's the 1st.
These players need to see a different side of me, they know my normal game. They also over value their hands and patience is a key factor in collecting the money.
Very nice to see you finally get a big win. I’m not familiar with the 2-5 game at Capitol, are you ever gonna go there? I mean you’ve proven year after year that you can dominate the 1-3 game (really plays like a 2-5). I’m not suggesting you do as I learn so much watching you, just wonder if you’re thinking about it.
The 2/5 is hit or miss and plays later in the day. I prefer the 1/3 game, very consistent and good action. If the 2/5 was consistent and action packed, I would play it more often.
11:30 I hate it when people say they have an Ace blocker which makes it sound like there is no other Aces out there, when in fact, there are 3 more. I prefer they say, “removal” instead of “blocker.”
I was super interested in how you were going to play the A/10 hand on the turn because that is a spot I avoid by just folding to the reraise pre flop. But then you went and hit trips lol. I was like oh man good for Doug’s pockets but bad for our learning. Good vlog as always.
The table rungood is fun to see, but I'll reserve the congratulations for your wife's escape. Hope her recovery is brief! I wanted to bug you about 'not giving a free card' 15:45 You bet 225 into 433 to get equity to overpay. But an open ended draw has 22ish per cent equity, and you're charging 27% of the resultant pot. I'm sure, to a limit guy, that sounds like disincentive. For NLH, unless he's sharp at math and very disciplined, this price feels great. And, with implied odds, this price actually is great. You'll know you're charging the right price when they hate to pay it. If you're not likely to get a fold, it's not likely the right price. If you'd bet 275, I think I'd leave you alone, but honestly, I think you need to be North of 300 here. Side note, if you bet to charge equity to play, then you can't extract value when potential connecting cards come. That's not many cards in this spot, but on many boards it can be a third of the deck. Since you surrender a large chunk of your potential river equity by letting draws call the turn, you must charge more on the turn to make up for that loss. I'm looking forward to the day you are known as "Big bet Doug" instead of "Big shoes Doug". That guy would be unstoppable.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts. One of the leaks I’ve been working on is giving my opponents too good of a price. I think your analysis is solid and I appreciate you taking the time to tell me. My goal is to plug that leak, only time will tell.
15:22 I paused before I saw the result here, but saw your $225 bet. He's playing strong, likely Strong A or big PP. Now AQ & QQ are ahead. I'd size down here to $125-150, leaving yourself fold equity in case he jams. Just my style, which is NO better than yours. What does Zeus recommend?🙄🐕
I wasn’t trying to get a call from the original raiser. My focus was on charging the possible drawing hand that was chasing. But AQ was in the raisers range and a big concern
Great to see a Poker vlog out on Sunday morning! Thanks, Doug and Zeus! Good to hear that your wife is doing ok after the accident.
She is still sore but improving
No way he had pocket queens on a J high board
I’m sure he did. What 4 bet hands could he beat other than AK??? He is a good player and made a good fold. If I cbet 125, he might continue.

I wish I could run like that more often. Doesn’t happen often, probably because a long while before it happens again.

Glad your wife is ok and great running Doug🎉🎉
Thank you, she is recovering slowly

Nice vlog Norcal Poker sent me over I subbed!
Would love to see you include number of hours played for the monthly/yearly totals at the end
I always post my yearly results including hrs played.
Great to have days like day-3 ☀️ Fun to wake up to your Vlog on Sunday morning, especially with no football 👍
It’s been a long time since I ran that well.
Don’t forget to keep the Lord’s Day holy and enjoy the sacrifice of the Holy Mass

I punted off too much money trying to get folds from strong ranges. Feels great when it works, but doesn’t work enough to be profitable.
Soo glad you run out the board even after you fold. Love that!
Thanks for subbing, tells a better story when the whole hand is shown.
I should be in Sacramento in March. Looking forward to playing a session at Capitol.
Let me know when you’re here
Finally some consistent run good. The best luck you had was your wife being ok! So glad for that! Happy for you brother.
Much appreciated Mike, my wife appreciates all the support the viewers expressed and so do I. 😀
Glad the wife wasn’t injured. Nice run Doug!
Run good is always welcome.
I love your channel Doug! Keep up the good work! But when your down $40.00 your not “stealing enough”
I steal when I can, I could probably do it more
You definitely are playing differently. Calling $38 to go 6 ways to the flop with KQ on the button! The opposite of your annual goal number 4.

I was getting excellent implied odds with my flop call. If I didn’t improve, it was headed to the muck.
What a great concept … playing well and getting lucky! I am pleased that your wife was not badly hurt.
Luck and solid play is a tough combo to beat.
How much is rake there? Lot tables going all time? Great action?
Max rake is $5, normally 3-5 1/3 games going. Action is good and usually at least 1 table playing very deep.
I would bet super small like 75 on the aces full hand might make him spazz out
It’s very player dependent, a spazz bet may have worked.
glad the wife is ok. Thats all that really matters. Nice poker though.
Family first, everything else 2nd. 😀
Hope your wife gets better soon, nice vlog. Thank you sir
Thanks, she is still sore but is slowly improving. ❤️
Hope your wife feels better fast! Dang punks...
she is still in a brace, but I think its getting better
Glad the wife's okay, Doug.
Thanks, she is slowly recovering

Hey Doug, glad you had a good week, and very glad that your wife is ok!
Thanks 👍. It’s been a while since I ran that hot.
Great game, and great news that your wife is ok.❤
I ran well that last day and my wife is improving from her injury
Glad your wife was OK, gl at the tables.

Haven't run that hot in a long time
Nice Doug! Sun Run! ☀️🏃🔥🔥🔥
It’s been a while, it felt glorious. 😀
I play 1-2 and 1-3 no limit..
Nice, small limit games are a great place to hone your fundamentals and knowledge.
So glad your is ok

Congrats 🍾🎉

@@dougmccuskerpoker yup, exactly. I seem to run into jams there too often. If he jams, what's your move?

Good job locking up the win day three... Lots of people throw away the win. Glad you kept it Doug.
Locking up a win like that is good for my mental health 😀
Great first month of 2024, Doug! I am down, but only by one buy-in…gotta keep grinding!
Off to a good start, will see if I can keep it rolling throughout the year. 🤞
Good analysis of the J10 straight hand! You seemed to know what you were up against in most of the hands you were involved in. Got to be a winner!
The way he played the hand made reading it fairly easy. Very straightforward.
Nice job Doug also glad no one was seriously hurt in the accident 😊
Thanks, it’s a blessing that everyone had no major injuries.
Love to see you finally run well! Be sure to get Zeus a reward as well! 🐶
