Nice to see grind days too, much more honest depiction of regular poker play. Always learning something from your commentary. For example, that $40 raise your friend made was definitely too small I though he needed to go to $100 to try to pick up the dead money
14:23 one must always be alert for the deadly Snow Crab ⛄️ 🦀!!! Solid play this week, I'm sure Zeus was gruff but secretly happy with the trend. The bonus hand format sure does spice up the endings! A real ginger snap of a vlog. You don't get a compliment like that every day.
Hi Doug. As we all seem to do, we 'overvalue' AK... I think that sometimes (especially when you are up against a 'nit') you should just call and see if your AK hits the flop. Having AK is not a license to shove on a 'short' stack... What do you think????
You need to play bigger blinds , the players are better and read boards before making decisions, 1-2 and 1-3 are full of pay off wizards , difficult to bluff as the money is hardly ever enough to hurt!! best regards from the UK Doug, hugs to Zeus, cheers Fraser
5:50 After the turn I think I would have checked just in fear of being reraised and not being able to call and realize the equity of the nut flush. I like your play a lot more.....I think I play a bit too fearful. Nice wins.
it helps when you READ opponent's hand strength. A lot! Playing tight and aggressive can bring you a grievance only. Three ways: a) *annoyance*: waiting too long to have something playable b) *disappointments*: when finally you have a made hand, nobody cares. c) *frustration*: when finally have a playable hand, someone puts max aggression on you; just to learn you ran into a stronger monster! Or being bluffed by a strong player who reads you playing tight and aggressive only!
They do spread a 2-5 and occasionally a 2-5-10 at night. I find the action in the 1-3 game is too good to leave. When I travel, I always play 2-5 and up.
Hey, Doug. I love your videos. I’m looking for good study materials and I know you recommend The Course by Ed Miller. Would you say it’s still relevant in most of today’s 1/2 and 1/3 games? Hope you’re well, and good luck out there.
Hey Doug I'm a Doug to lol. I'm wanting to visit Sacramento and meet ya. Do you play on the weekends. Long time sub and love your videos and going to start my own channel
Bomb pot got me again brother... I'll never play one again. From now on I'll use that time to get up and stretch legs, take a piss, get a drink, whatever!! lol Remove all the bomb pot losses from my stats and I'm a winning player.
I just played my first 24 hour session, 3pm-3pm it was a lot of ups and downs but overall I ended up walking away with a profit of $3600 🎉why did I do it? Idk but it was fun 😂
@@dougmccuskerpoker thanks, I have only been playing for 2 years but I enjoy watching your videos and it helps me with strategy since I also play 1/3, luckily though our 1/3 game has a max buy in of 2k. It’s the biggest game in my area, sometimes they have 2/5 but it’s rare but also uncapped. But for now I just stick with the 1/3 trying to get my bankroll to a decent size for the eventual bigger game. Thanks for your videos , keep the content coming 😁
that makes sense. If you're card dead for a long, then you finally get something playable and continue losing/being outdrown - then a garbage hand always (96%) does! Try it. (this provided that some overconfident player with. monster pocket pair makes a monster PF mistake and let you cheaply in).
Against a nit sure, against someone you think is capable I disagree. If you play in a lower stakes game where only sets and straights raise then I agree with you.
We have played against each other a few times. He knows that I would put pressure on his over pairs with my combo draws and my made hands. I feel he made 2 errors on that hand. 1 his preflop raise was too small and 2. Betting pot on such a wet board leads to trouble. I think calling my jam was only slightly -ev.
Facing a pot size bet from PFR in a multiway pot with opponents who could’ve also hit that board makes it less likely he would be bluffing cause there’s just less fold equity
Lol Doug I thought when I have pocket Qs and the flop is AK only happens to me glad you did ok 😊
Happens more often than I want. Luckily my opponent didn’t have an A, I thought he would fold all his Ks and I call always catch a club.
Nice to see grind days too, much more honest depiction of regular poker play. Always learning something from your commentary. For example, that $40 raise your friend made was definitely too small I though he needed to go to $100 to try to pick up the dead money
I feel his raises are too small often. Maybe his normal game doesn’t have so many chasers. 🤷
Thanks for another great vlog, Doug! Starting my Sunday off happy!👍
Glad you enjoyed it

Another solid vlog. Thanks!
Much appreciated!
Great Vlog, Doug! Great play on day 3!
Glad you enjoyed it, easy to play when the cards run good.
Great vlog.. keep them coming
Thank you! Will do!
Love your blogs, Doug. Glad you got the call from your Canadian acquaintance.
He is a very talented player, he got the best of me in an early hand. Happy to make a hand against him.
Nice meeting you the other day. I was glad to finally run into you at the Capitol. Keep up the great content.
Thanks for saying hello
Thank you for the relaxing and informative videos
Glad you like them!
Nice content man. Really enjoyed the video. Especially like the " bonus hand" star. Nice touch.
Thanks, glad you enjoyed it!
Always tough playing bottom two on a connected board. Nice play against talented player.
It really was the only play I could make. Don’t want to let someone in cheep with a draw
Loved the 76 hand 👍🤪🤩
Lucky flop, he should raise larger preflop.
Thanks Doug great commentary.
Glad you enjoyed it
Almost 10k subs man. Keep on firing. Been watching since 2021.
thanks for the support, if you go buy a couple of extra phones I can hit 10k faster. lol
Checking back in after a while. Glad to see you and Zeus are doing okay. Still criminally under-subscribed. Here’s to a stellar 2024 🍻
Guess I am still the best kept secret in poker vlogging. lol

The deciding factor was the dead money from the other 2 players, makes a shove the best play IMO. Heads up, call would be standard.
Thanks for the bonus hands. The last one was a doozy.
Yes it was! My heart was pumping
I was tryin to figure out what your hand was on the KJcc hand while playing. Thought AK maybe at the time. Nice bluff!
Thanks Alex, I would play AQ and AKcc the same way.
Haha I knew u two played the same place an table! Just watched both ur videos
@@chrisgauthier3689 good catch!
Well, that was fun. It's good to see a nice profit. 2 pr cracks aces and get paid, sweet. Keep it up. 💯
I really feel he should’ve checked that flop with the intention of giving up with substantial action. But what do I know, he is a very good player. 🤷
@dougmccuskerpoker I agree. On that texture, there are so many 2 pr or sets. I folded kings on a 345 board, and v had a set of 5s.
You need to play bigger blinds , the players are better and read boards before making decisions, 1-2 and 1-3 are full of pay off wizards , difficult to bluff as the money is hardly ever enough to hurt!! best regards from the UK Doug, hugs to Zeus, cheers Fraser
I agree, all the low hanging fruit are in the 1-3 game. Bigger games, you extract value in other ways.

Playing tight and being aggressive gives you a chance to win pots without actually making a hand. This type of play prints money in the long run.

Does Capitol casino spread a larger game? If they have a 2-5 game, do you not have an interested playing that?

8 3 off suit? Man, what a strange play.
He was a little tilted.

Yes, absolutely. The Course is perfect for that size game.
Doug what do you do if he bets 100 instead of 200, would you still jam?
I would raise to 500 and jam any blank.
😊

Only thing worse than chopping in a cash game is chopping when you are deep in a tournament and short stacked.
Chops are anti-climatic

I'd only play those hands if flop the nuts. If not I'm folding. They don't do them in jersey tho.
@@mrhumble2937 They do double board bomb pots where I play. You can flop the nuts on 1 board and still get screwed.
That’s a good strategy, take a break. I do them to keep the action going(a donation)

I don’t always play my hands the same way. I mix it up just so that I am more difficult to read.

I play very similar to ur... but I feel I go so card dead for longer periods of time....
everyone goes card dead like that, the patient players feel it more than the loose players.
I thought we should raise pot plus 3 BB s under the gun. Not just 3BBs
I normally raise in increments of $5, either 15 or 20 is my normal open depending on the game.
$25 pre.. with 83o… wow
