    Thanks for the tip. For interior design I find slicing with sections is useful. Maybe more useful than hiding and unhiding walls.
    Save the views as scenes then you can use them for wall elevations.
    The most useful Sketch Up command I've found recently is paste in place. Great for tidying up geometry and getting things in and out of groups.

    Oh man! I've just redesigned both bathrooms in my house. Wish I'd known about shift zoom, would have made the job so much easier. Too late now, the bathrooms are both installed! Oh well, keep that tip for the next time.

      It's never too late. You could always rip everything out and try again.

    That is a good one! I forget to use some of SU's great features so it is good to be reminded and go through them in detail as you did here. Also, my Logitech 3-button mouse has both a smooth and ratchet wheel. By clicking down on the wheel it switches between smooth and ratchet.

    I've used it a lot, and yes it is a life saver when you're boxed in.

    wow that is great I feel that the zoom tool is reversed from the scroll direction it feels odd and if he direction is flipped then the scroll wheel feels inverted and the zoom ok is there a wat to invert the zoom tool direction only instead of the scroll weel direction?

    So the latest version has an icon, in the tool bar, to perform this function also

    It would be great to type in a camera focal length as well as the FOV. This would bring SU up to what other 3D vis programs use for setting a view.

      You should be able to just type in a FOV while in that same mode.

    How bizarre the timing on this video! I'm currently working on a bathroom design and struggling with the exact issues mentioned. Awesome tip!

    Great video. Vey helpful. May I ask which is the most natural field of view (degrees) - comparing to the human eyes?

      @SketchUp  Год назад +1

      50-55 degrees is closest and looks great when exported fm SU.

    Hi, does this not work with the free web version of SketchUp? I just tried it and it seemed that the zoom function still worked as it normally does, with the camera moving

      Just checked and holding down Shift while draggin Shift up and down does change the Field of View in SketchUp for Web as it does in SketchUp for Desktop!

    Since I use a 3d-mouse, choosing zoom and immediately typing 75 (deg field of view) makes it for me while inside and outside rooms. So no, I never use shift-zoom.
