This was the first "difficult" game that I beat all by myself after my older brother moved away. I remember it not feeling the same at first and almost quitting it. But after you obtain the first instrument and it played it's little lick/riff I knew I had to keep going in order to hear them all. That really was the impetus for me to complete the game. I finally did beat it in about a week using my Super GameBoy. And after, I would rewatch the very end where all the instruments join together to play almost every day after school. Great memory. I've since whistled and hummed this melody for the rest of my life. I'm almost 40.
Very similar experience it was a he first game I beat with out help when I was little and it made me cry when maron became seagull which is an impressive feat
Same here brother. I'm 42. I'll never forget playing in the back of our Aerostar minivan with a flashlight. The first time I heard the full melody, it awoke things that I didn't know existed. But I suppose that was the point of the song.
I finished Link's Awakening just now, and this melody just keeps sinking deeper and deeper into my head alongside the end credits theme. There's this indescribable charm the Wind Fish strikes with me, which rivals and likely outweighs the other stream of awe I felt from witnessing Lugia from The Power of One. The Wind Fish is everything that I perceive as truly beautiful - not just the whale and the fabric that wraps him up cozily, but the dream world he has entered and lived in so deeply. Dreams are astounding, as they feel like colossal enhancements of reality. Emotions, senses, and imaginations are made infinitely stronger in the dream world, yet the memories of my dreams are often lost to the energy used for waking back up. All I truly want is a tear-cranking dream that I can vividly remember for the longest time. I try to piece together mesmerizing sceneries in my head while I'm awake, but they always have these gaps only dreams can fill in. I see the Wind Fish as the final stage to purifying the soul at the end of the dream, where all it takes from there is a heartfelt hug with this handsome whale. This would be physically impossible considering size differences, but remember we're talking about dreams here. This sweetheart can take us to an unrealized world of joy and sorrow, and help us feel them to their greatest boundaries. One growing idea that may help push me towards this final stage is a video game that I've been wanting to develop. It's been stuck in the brainstorming stage for almost two years as of now. "Orkay", the name of the game and protagonist, will embody a small universe I consciously dream of. The world is small, yet feels so gigantic and brilliant from the player's point of view. However that may be is something I cannot say for certain, as my brainstorming is going very slowly. This melody, the Ballad of the Wind Fish, and your rendition of it, perfectly accompany my visions of flying closer to the Wind Fish until my arms can reach him. The lovable feels this song carries can't ever be let go of. It truly feels like I'm finally reaching the top of my dreams when I listen to Totaka's heartwarming composition. Thank you for creating an extended version of this sad music with your beautiful performance on the piano, and even accompanying it with rain and thunder. Windy Fishnet!
Kugee my most memorable game I played as a child, walking around with my original game boy, really captured my imagination in a way no other game has since, a truly legendary entry in a legendary franchise.
@@mickabajerski4985 ruclips.net/video/zmPzbZVUp3g/видео.html I like this one more, the waves aren't a big wall of sound since they're more spread out. But thanks for the idea!
Thank you for this. I've been having a lot of trouble sleeping and this is one of the few things that can get me to sleep. Or to focus at work since it's not people talking. I don't even like thunder and rain, but it still works.
Feel free to request pieces, I usually pick out pieces you guys request! Also, it would help a lot if you share my videos if you feel they deserve it! Thanks for watching!
i cannot atress enough how warm my heart feels when i here this sometimes it makes me cry aometimes it gives me joy it makes me feel a resonating acceptance of the world. i love this and i love you i gives me hope and you captured that hope that inspires me to acheive . THANK YOU!
Hi! I dont play this long, its my original upload that is extended!:) I wouldnt be able to perform a piece like this for that long, its hard enough for me to play it once without making mistakes!
I would give this rendition 500 likes if I was able. This piece is more faithful to the original than other composers. Link's Awakening was more culminating in my childhood than Link to the Past, just because it was more personal. I watched my brothers play SNES, but the gameboy adventure was way more personal because it was about you, alone, discovering Koholint on your own personal screen. And this was long before the internet and sharing with the world.
It's the 23 of December i have to work in 20 minutes and the week has been horror so far. Listening to this to calm down.... wish me luck... all 4 the rupees!
absolutely beautiful! you included the maron and link duet variation in the right hand, can't believe I didn't find this video sooner. Well done, I doubt any piano solo version is nearly as effective as this one. (The sound effects are nice touch too.)
I have gotten quite a lot better since this recording. It's a piece I might re-visit cause I think I could do better with my new experience and new piano. Just need to get a new camera first. One of my favorite pieces. Thank you! :)
I look forward to it, I always enjoy watching talented pianists play my favorite nostalgia music. I actually learned a crazy amount of zelda songs myself, though I am usually too lazy to deal with my recording situation and overall poor quality.
I really like your playing of this song on the piano so much! I just played this song on my Yamaha YPG-235 Keyboard! I beat Link’s Awakening DX On 3/16/19! This is one of my favorite songs from that game!
they should make a total remake/ reboot of this game with a link between world graphics and an evocative atmosphere, and make the music sound like this
That makes me feel even more depressed after I just watched the last episode of code geass, and lelouche dies, everyone is celebrating except his sister which is mourning over him, but his sister was the one that was trying to stop him for most of the series. GODAMMIT ANIME MAKES ME CRY, BUT WHEN U LISTEN TO VIDEO GAME MUSIC AFTERWARDS U CRY FOUNTAINS ;^;
Hi. Sorry, not a limited edition, but my older arrangements and sheet music I used won't be there since my sheet store is super new and I will only post music I have altered and arranged myself. So some pieces where I have adjusted nothing, won't be there, but they are often on ninsheetmusic. You could try ninsheetmusic and see if they have a similar arr to this?? Or I might be able to write down the arrangement if I get some free time over the next few days. Im a bit busy with Tears Of The Kingdom music these days, but yes, try ninsheetmusic in the meantime:)
+Jacob Duchlis I have been considering creating a tutorial channel for my covers, but since that is incredibly time consuming, it would be impossible without economical founding, so that might be a thing in the future if I can figure out if it will work out or not!:)
you know. I started listening to this and had no idea who it was playing. then I went to see who it was and I thought " it's Thomas. No wonder It was good"
Out of all the Zelda's I can't believe you would choose that one. Link's Awakening is much better than that game. I never played the original when I was a kid but had an opportunity to finally play it on the remade version for Nintendo Switch. Anyways the Ocarina of time or the Windwaker are much better games than Twilight Princess. Even Majora's Mask is more interesting. Twilight was a good game but it didn't create the lasting impression or memories these other games have. Being 33 years old and playing Links Awakening this song alone has taken me to another place. This is a masterpiece of art and I love Link's Awakening.
My favorite Zelda Game? Uhm... I don't know. Link's awakening is beautyful, Breath of The Wild is fantastic , but Twilight Princess was my first Zelda Game... I really love it!

That was beautiful...
The rain and thunder effects add a really nice touch to the music. They make it sound even more relaxing.
Would it be at all possible to make one with the sounds found along a beach?
You know, crashing waves, seagulls, that sort of thing?
Maybe a conch shell too? I really want this now!

this game along with Pokémon red and Gold we're a big chunk of my childhood, thank you for taking me back to this. Wind Fish Soap on my dude.
The Zelda series has honestly the best video game soundtrack ever! No doubt...
It's just so beautiful. soft and sad at the same time.
WTF ... my tears ... I remember many things, with this
