There's a slight bittersweet tune in the ballad of wind fish theme song.. I guess that is why the story it self is so bittersweet... it's like life it self... to keep on living embracing the dream, or to wake up to reality and continue on living... seeing the world disappears as Link awaken brings me mixed feelings, really...
Wow, I love it. This song was one of the first pieces of music that ever made me feel emotional, back when I played Link's Awakening as a child. It still gives me the same feeling, topped off with nostalgia.
Remember how much you loved all the characters in this game and how cute a couple marin and link made, and then you realized you had to wake up from what was only a dream to beat the bad guys?
@@Droobie03 link was struck by lightning in the cutscene at the start - this is what actually happened. The rest of the game takes place in his subconsious. Link is probably in a coma fighting to wake from it and this is represented by fighting the monsters. The world will cease to exist when he wakes up - because that world only exists in his head.
It did have a triangle as one of the instruments, though. That being said, I guess it's a bit much to expect a musical arrangement to include every single instrument.
This is a song Link works hard to obtain, all so that he could play it once and to never hear it afterwards, ever again. Still brings tears to my eyes.
As a person that's never played violin, that man on the left is so unbelievably clearly the most talented violinist I've ever seen. Leaps and bounds above second chair, insane. I come back to listen to this once or twice a year and he stands out as such a savant, stealing the show every time. Bravo.
This is such a beautiful piece I've played every Zelda game there is and Links awakening is hands down the best game ever this song is so beautiful thank you for such an amazing beautiful version of it
I hope that one day the version with the whole orchestra playing this song will also be recorded so that we can download it. It is absolutely breathtaking and stunning.
Man.... Ballad of the Wind Fish... Orchestrated.... Thank You so much; however, what happened to the other instruments: Bell, Triangle, Organ, Drum, Horn and Marimba? xD xP
Crap I just remembered how tragic this game really is, and the fact the new artstyle isn't going to be able to capture the desperation of the nightmares or anything really irks me. If the destruction of the island in the remake at the end isn't powerful I will cry angry tears rather than feels tears
wonderful. When I was a kid, the bleeps and bloops of the original ballad of the wind fish made me choke up, even though it was on the game boy's shitty sound chip. Sufficed to say, this rendition had me a little bit more emotional.
Omg I remember being 10 and so emotional! Now I’m 29 and this really got me. The bleeps and boops is a perfect way to put the game boy colors sound lol
I love that older players of the original game are coming together around what I would say is one of the most emotive pieces of VGM ever written. Crying now, knowing so many people feel this very same way! Love you all 💨🐋
This is arguably one of the best songs of any Zelda game and it's a crime that the game and music is not ranked higher among Zelda fans. The music always got me pumped for the fight to come.
This is the best cover of the Ballad of the Windfish I know. Others are pretty cool, but this one, this one really makes me cry. So much feels, thank you !
Interestingly, this cover didn't do it for me. You can tell they never played the game - the were very free with the motive. (Which is all quite well, but it really didn't "click" with me. Too fancy, too artsy.)
I was actually listening to this just before the nintendo direct, Link's Awakening remake was so unexpected but I'm so happy bout it cause it was my first Zelda game
@@booqueefious2230 Oh I know. But I can't think of any song, nor a specific performance thereof, that has ever... let alone regularly... made me lose it.
Hey, now, he and Zelda fly off into the sky at the end of Skyward Sword, and in much of the game it's hinted that they're in love with each other (more so than any other Zelda title). I often wonder what classically trained symphony musicians think playing these tunes from video games. Considering the creators of the music are often trying to emulate classical music, do they enjoy playing it or see it as a bastardization? The result is wonderful regardless, and if nothing else I'm sure the musicians enjoy the work it gives them. Vivaldi was written with an intense musical NEED......to impress some Italian prince enough to get paid this month, after all.
I personally study classical pieces and arrangements for the piano. Funnily enough, what made me start to love Classical music was soundtracks from Final Fantasy and TLoZ and countless other games. There is not a single thought in my mind that says Classical music gets bastardized by video game music. If anything, I'd say it's more of like an evolution.
Imagine this: You make your way up the mountain to the egg holding all the instruments. The music starts as you climb it. Once at the top the tune plays in it's adorable child-like style then you hear the tune slowly manifest into a full orchestra and as it does, the art style changes. It morphs to a more matured style just for the final boss. Just imagine. (*Just watched the Link's Awakening remake 2019)
I know this comment is 2 years old and the game has been out for a bit, and although this version is beautiful, it's missing several of the instruments from the game, so it wouldn't have been able to be used. I wouldn't have minded though 😉

The only remotely villainous acts the monsters on the island committed were all to try and stop link. Make's you wonder who the real villain is?

YYAAAAAASSSSSs! I've been looking for a version of this that doesn't sound like its been recorded on a cellphone.
This is so beautiful, but where the triangle at. It's like the centerpiece of the song man. Triangles are always the central theme of Zelda.
