If ever in doubt, club up. Best advice for any golfer for 99% of all situations 🙌

Nice routine, however most of this should be done pre the pre shot routine. Have your green numbers walking up to the ball etc.
Rule 5.6 states that “It is recommended that the player make the stroke in no more than 40 seconds after they are (or should be) able to play without interference or distraction, and
The player should usually be able to play more quickly than that and is encouraged to do so.”

I find that if I swear during my pre-shot routine it takes pressure off as I won't have to search for the words after the shot.

The timer should start after you've got your distances. I don't pick a place to tee the ball until after I've made the decison on shot shape and target.

Please, to everyone whatching this vid, bear in mind that you can do many of these routine things while your partners are playing... Also your clubs may be closer than Pete's ones... We want rounds not exceeding 4,5hrs

Hey Peter! I’ve had some thoughts about wedges around the green with types of shots to hit depending on pin, lie, and other factors of course. Do you think a video on let’s say the 3-5 shots around the green you must know would be beneficial?

Great video!! Anytime I don’t do a pre shot routine it just feels like I’ve got less control of what I’m doing and a bit of a hit and hope feel.
Notes taken, and I can’t wait to hit the v.cold conditions 😅

I currently do these things but when I get my line from behind the ball I pick out a spot in front of the ball so when I get to address I know my club face is pointed towards where I saw my line from behind it.

I’m surprised that routine actually took beyond a minute. I often have to shoot the laser twice when the yardage doesn’t jive with the distance marker and also set up next to the ball before moving in. I don’t take front and back yardages but it sometimes takes longer to decide what shot/club when it’s a tricky pin position. The commentary probably slowed you down quite a bit as normally the thinking process is just a flash in the mind. Anyway, I’m going to time myself out at the range and see how I do. 😅

Over a minute! My playing partners and I would be screaming if one of us took that long. That being said, your routine might help some of us.

I agree. In our group, many of those considerations can be made prior to having your turn on the tee. There’s generally no need to delay those considerations until putting your tee in the ground.

      More then one minute…
If it’s a 3 person flight (of mid players) it’s 15’ or more for each hole. In my little club, it’s 10/12’ per hole🫤

  • @lavin214

If you wait to do that until it's your turn your playing partners would murder you after 2 holes. Get your yardage and decide the club and shot you want to play while you're playing partners are playing their shot that why when it's your turn you can set up and hit it.

The stupid way that club golf has gone now, is that if you take your time to try and play the best shot possible, other players start moaning about it. It’s bloody ridiculous how fast club golfers seem to think you will play faster by taking less time over a shot. Most of us would play faster by taking more time to play the shot properly.

Surely best if amateurs consider why they finish short - if down to poor strike work on that. Next factor in where your best miss is - on my course if I was to miss any green by 5 yards I’d choose short on every hole over long, left or right as in every case that leaves the easiest shot. Great vid otherwise👍
