If you ever feel like trying artichoke again, don't cut it in half. Leave trimmed and whole and cook in IP for 11 min. Delish dipped in butter or mayo. Love your videos! I learn so much!
When you were frying on the stove I noticed ur oil was only on one side.... you need to level the feet of your stove so the oil is even in your pan... its super easy and it’s a game changer
Oh my gosh, I found your video by chance, and as you talk first off, I don't like eggs either, but I do like those eggs you made your son! All that food looks really good. Now you're talking about your flooring; I'm in the middle of the same thing at my house.I just got off the phone with the esta people with an estimate. I can't believe what a pain in the butt it is and do something so simple as flooring, but it really is. I've never owned my own house before until now, so I'm realizing what it really means to own one
Your house is so, so beautiful. You worked so hard and saved so long to be able to have your dream house. LOVE the basement and your finishing choices! I am sure you know, but if you have a sump pump, have a battery backup and maybe a generator for the worst case water situation. You are amazing and such an inspiration. Stay happy and well. Loved seeing your sweet Murphy man in the basement with you - seems like a “velcro puppy,” much like my sweet yellow lab Buddy who recently passed at 15 yrs. I miss him so much, and it makes me happy to see your sweet boy.
You don't have to cut it in half but it will cook faster if you do. Just steam it & don't cook it in water, it will be watery if you do. I hope you scrape the choke off the heart of it & eat that as well. I love artichokes, I can eat a whole one by myself. You can dip the leaf in melted butter but I use mayo. I hope you enjoyed it.
I love artichokes but I suspect it’s cause I steam them in just water and serve with melted butter, I’m sure it’s the butter I like! Oh and I steam them whole
My son plays in a competitive travel soccer league- I feel weird about it but I feel like he needs it for his mental health. So we are going forward - but it does feel so strange. Life is surreal right now.
Our kids going back in our district on a strange schedule. Some kids go Mon, Tues.. some Wed , Thurs. all other days online... masks requires. We also have the option of fully online. I will let each kid choose. I have teens. I hope they’ll do temperature checks as well. We did go ahead and go on our beach vacation. I took all of our food and we only did beach and condo. No stores or restaurants. It’s all so so strange
I’m 23 and only lived in apartment this is my 3rd I’m in Southern California and a new build house out here for a good one is about 700k so you’ll need about 100k down I know it’s way cheaper in others states but I’ll hopefully buy one when I’m done with college your home is beautiful
Jen you have been a happy distraction for me. My mother passed away on the 28th suddenly, I am heartbroken....I have enjoyed escaping with watching your videos. Thank you, you don't know it but you have been a blessing.
Came to check out your channel from frugal fit mom and binged watch most of the night. You are awesome! Very informative, educational and relatable. Love it!
I'm having an off day an watching your videos is so relaxing an calming to me. I was all caught up or so I thought till I went searching so I am in my jammies in the middle of the day with some coffee doing a mental reset. Thank you so much for your videos and everything you post.
I'm with you about the school and vacation thing. I don't even want my kids playing on the playground and touching the playground equipment lol so even if my son's school hadn't decided on virtual for now I'd already decided he wouldn't be going back this year. He's a terrible and lazy handwasher and last year he was constantly sick and constantly making his little brother sick. It's a crap decision either way though!
Love your channel so much. I just sit and binge...and in between watching I feel guilty because I know that I should be doing something around the house. lol I'm an empty nester (not really, I have a husband) so there is always a little something to do. I wanna prep and cook like you. You make cooking seem so easy. Let's hope that the government decides on online school until after the new year.
Your videos are the highlight of my days. I am a lecturer and I teach online during the pandemic. After a long day of teaching via Zoom, your videos are a breath of fresh air. You're so genuine and down to earth and your content is right down my ally. I love the longer videos too.
Micellar water is my favorite make-up remover. It doesn't make my eyes sting like most make-up removers. I've seen other videos about Imperfect Produce and I've checked them out but they don't deliver in my area. I live in the boonies. No one delivers except Amazon, Walmart and Schwabb (?) Frozen foods. They always have since we moved here 20 years ago. Even b4 Covid, most local take out places didn't even deliver here I've dealt with artichokes in the past. You should remove the purple part before coming. You can't eat that part either. I audio have those Rachael Ray small bakers. I have them in Orange. I also have a larger Baker in purple.
Love watching you!!I am retired now & would love to be as disciplined, motivated & hardworking as u. Ur husband should be so proud of u. What an awesome wife & mum
We have a two week delayed opening. Our district is providing all staff (I’m staff) with 5 medical masks. There will be an extra person on the buses taking the temps of all students before they get on the bus. All staff and students must wear masks while at school. No sharing school supplies. Lots of changes. Im wearing googles whenever I go out. Our state has mandated everyone to wear a mask while out in public. There is so much uncertainty everywhere.
You and I think along the same lines about home building. My husband and I actually decided to build our first home a little bit out in the country because we got such a better bang for our buck than if we moved to our ideal city. We are only 15 min north. We saved $60,000 cash (that was 20% down) so we didn’t have PMI and that was the best decision ever as first-time homebuyers at 29 years old! We were so proud. I also focused a lot of upgrades in the kitchen like you did! All white upgrades cabinets, stainless steel appliances, added an island and butler’s pantry! 👌🏼
I absolutely love your videos... my kids (4th grade and kindergarten) are starting distant learning next week. It is going to be so interesting to figure out the best way to handle it as both my husband n I work full time and really no help with the kids. This time is so crazy but your videos have truly helped me with ideas on how to prep.! Thank you 💙
Your skin looks amazing. Tons of natural beauty for sure. Here in NC my kids are doing the virtual academy for the fall semester. For the parents & students who choose to go to school; they are on a 3 week schedule rotation. They will attend school for 1 week but then be virtual for 2 weeks. That’s our county’s plan B. So with that I was like what the heck, might ask well just keep them home. Especially since my daughter had so much anxiety about it plus she has a few autoimmune disease. I don’t think she’d be able to really focus if she went to school with everyone wearing mask, and staying 6ft apart, wondering if that child that coughed or sneezed has the virus. So virtual is what we’ve decided.
Just got an air fryer from Macys before black friday for $20. Now I wish I would've bought a bigger one. The box they shipped it in was ridiculous 😂 could've fit 7 of them in there. 🤦🏼♀️
Great video Jen! I love the off the shoulder top! I’m going to order one in royal blue! The basement is looking so nice. I love having a handyman husband! If he doesn’t know how to do something he will research until he does know. ☺️
I chuckled a little when I saw you had a slow close toilet lid in your basement bathroom. We put those in our house recently. My guy has darn near busted the work toilets by letting go of the lid and actually pushing it down! I’ve done it too! We really do like them though! Your basement is coming along nicely! Thanks for the new food tries. I love verde sauces and haven’t ever bought tomatillos. It looked so easy and very tasty looking. Now, I must make some! 🤗 Thanks Jen!
🤣🤣🤣 Watching and reading comments at 1 am and this one made me laugh out loud literally! Lol ...... I eat too many darn chips! Awesome comment and yes she is very motivational and so inspiring 👍👍👍💚
I love your channel Jen! It is great to see how you balance of working plus having two kids - so down to earth and a realistic picture of life. I am having the same struggles with sending my kids back... we are down here in Texas a hot spot so it is not looking promising.
You are so inspiring. I watch you on my tv because ur videos are long and it strains my eyes. Been following you since some time but commenting for first time.
Here in PA at in our districts we have the option to send our kids for face to face instruction (with precautions), cyber academy at school with access to face to face instruction, or cyber academy (full time at home). It’s a difficult decision for parents. As of now we intend to send our kids back, but it’s a difficult decision. I have some health concerns and we feel stuck...do we not send our kids because I could get really sick? I have the luxury of being able to work from and my kids are fairly self sufficient but I really feel for other families trying to navigate life in Covid times.
We finally decided yesterday to send our kids to school virtually (for at least the first trimester (elementary)/semester (middle school). Our deadline to sign up for virtual academy in our district is 8/5. It’s been really a tough decision and we were so back and forth. Our oldest is entering 6th grade/middle school and she is so upset about not getting to see her friends. I have several co-morbidities that make this virus, so much more dangerous for me. My mother-in-law may soon be living with us and she also has several co-morbidities as well. Football and dance/cheer season are still continuing. I know that for our dance teams, we are practicing social distancing, sanitizing hands, temperature checks, and mask wearing, etc. If I were still working virtual would not have been an option, as my office is now back in the workplace. I feel for all you parents whose work situation makes these decisions even tougher.
we are struggling with the loss of sports , soccer is not safe its close contact . its been a huge loss for my oldest son. we also just read through a stressful 45 page reopening plan...and they have sucked all socialization out of the classrooms . this is a sad time and i feel for parents that really dont have a choice , my teen is devastated but i may have to opt for distance learning because my son has asthma
The district we are in is offering the choice of in-person or virtual learning so my 15 year old is going to do virtual for the first semester at least. The high school he attends has 4,000 students so I just don’t feel comfortable sending him. I agree with you...I think schools will open and then have to close anyway.
What a great video! I needed this motivation. :) I am a new subscriber having just found you when another RUclipsr recommended your channel, however I feel terrible I cannot remember which one it was! It had to be either ..She's in her Apron, Large Family Love, A country life, A peek inside, or How Jen does it as those are the main ones I watch. but anyway I am so glad I found this channel.
My daughter has always like mini m&m's better than the regular size, too. We have a fancy toilet with the buttons, too. LOL And a bidet! I'm in the DFW area of Texas and COVID cases are pretty high here. Our school district is giving the option of in-school or virtual and asked us to commit to a full semester (although TEA says we can change every 6 weeks - what a scheduling nightmare that would be!) . They said 40% of families chose virtual. But they also decided everyone will do virtual for the first 4 weeks and they can extend that. We just felt like it was going to be the best for our son and the most consistent. My son and husband also have asthma. Not an ideal situation for my son's senior year but it is what it is. We'll see what happens for next semester.
Love your videos. Can you link the black mask you were wearing? I'm on the hunt for some good masks and that one seems great for people who wear glasses. Thank you!!
Do you have a couscous salad recipe? What about top five prepared salads not the green lettuce kind but like pasta salad or couscous salad or parsley salad or any kind of your favorite salads.
I'm a high school teacher in Illinois. My children are elementary school students. I personally am glad my kids get to go back to school and I am glad to be back with my students in person . School provides so much more than just an education. That being said it is easier to make that decision when no one in my family has risk factors and my county has a really low number of cases.I usually think Illinois government botches about everything but my school district and the state board of education have come up with a lot of criteria that makes me feel more comfortable about going back. Like you I fully expect us to be remote pretty quickly but am hoping that's not the case. It is a difficult decision for sure, I know you and Adam will make the best decision for your families situation.
Our school district is going back to school with no masks required. That freaks me out for my grandkids. Our little town is considered in the red zone right now. Loved your video tonight. Laying in bed watching it.
Hey Jen, new subbie well newish. Loving your channel, little bit of everything! I’m not a young mom like you but still enjoying your channel. My kids (well kid) are grown now and on their own but I like the variety your channel has, something for everyone. 👍💜👍💜👍💜
Also consider when you are taking foods with iron avoid taking tea and coffee within 2 hrs of the food because they decrease absorption 64% and 39% respectively.
I love artichokes and buy them at Costco. Over the years, I have switched from steaming them to wrapping them tightly in heavy duty foil and baking them. It's easier in that there's no dishes and also they aren't full of water. I don't cut them in half. I poke some little pieces of butter into the layers just to keep them moist and I out a little lemon juice. I melt butter, salt and a little more lemon for dipping and it's yummy. I also make homemade roasted tomatillo salsa. My recipe is a little different but who cares, use the one you like. I use an immersion blender, though, and I think it's less clean up
Hi Jenn, may I say your skin looks amazing! Love all your content. My son and daughter-in-law decided not to send my granddaughters to school, they feel it's not going to last very long. It's so difficult to make that call. ❤️
The hard thing about testing kids each day is not everyone has a fever. My work wants us in the office (about 10,000 of us here in California) but they let 99% of us work from home since mid March. They told us were coming back July 1st, then August 4th then October 5th and now they just told us this week, not until after January 2021. Thank God because these moving dates all the time is stressful. My husband and I could not have children and that is easier on us during this pandemic. We see this with our family and friends that have kids/teenagers. It’s much harder for them. Mentally staying home as much as possible helps because there is no exposure so I don’t worry. When we do go out it’s stressful because some people behave badly/selfishly. I feel better when I just eliminate exposure and thankfully we get to work from home so we can. Once I knew we would not be eating out, shopping etc. much we buckled down hard core so the silver lining during this time, I’ve not put on make for 6 months and we’ve saved almost 30K towards a Tesla I ordered. I will only have to take out a loan for 1/2 of what the total cost is going to be.
Love your videos Jen, we are in Scotland and here the policy is to try and eradicate the virus entirely. We found out this week that our kids can go back to school in a couple of weeks after summer break, they have been at home since March. I am happy for them to go back as my oldest is getting close to her exam years and it was hard to be homeschooling and working ( I was able to work from home) but like you I wonder if they will end up back home at some point. In Scotland there is a plan for blended learning if needed where they will go to school in smaller groups for part of the week and online the rest of the time- I feel ok with this too but it’s a very strange time for children and parents, I hope all works out well for you.
I know you talk about it, but maybe you should coin the phrase "pockets of time". This is most definitely how you are so productive. Just the amount you got done waiting to go eat breakfast was surprising. I would have just thought I dont have enough time to finish anything so I'll watch Jen Chapin on RUclips! Haha! I think I definitely overestimate the amount of time it takes to do a task. You get a lot done during those in between times. I will strive to be more like you and maybe watch more videos at 3am instead of during daytime hours. Lol
Jen, I looked at your 2017 blog and where you previously lived. The kids were younger and so cute. As the saying goes “you’ve come a long way, baby”....luv your blogs and videos.
Your intros are so professional, the music you select reminds me of the TV Series Felicity! Love the background when you are on your deck so beautiful! Try the coffee M&Ms outrageous ! SPA DAY OMG>>>>>DYING LAUGHING. Your basement looks beautiful.
We just got back from a cabin in Bryson city, NC. It was great and there were so many outdoor activities and our kids loved it. They are 7 and 9. We live in palm beach county FL. So it was a good break because the cases were really bad here.
Hi Jen! I really enjoyed this video. I found this very inspiration and motivational. Thank you so much for filming these amazing videos, I always love to see the notification appear in my inbox, it always makes my day. Much love to you and your family. Stay safe and take care, xx
I'm in Upstate NY & the schools are just submitting their plans for fall...it will most likely be a hybrid of in person & online. Most likely 2 days a week for each group however they divide them up. Thankfully my job is in the education/daycare field so they have to figure out how to handle this too because a. Before we were told to follow our school district b. 3/4 of their staff have school aged children so they will be extremely short on staff if we have to stay home because our children are out of school 3 days a week.
Two things, you are an amazing woman and I want you to adopt me and the french onion soup in the oven!!! Life changing. I used to spend what felt like hours at the stupid stovetop. Def using that recipe.
If you ever feel like trying artichoke again, don't cut it in half. Leave trimmed and whole and cook in IP for 11 min. Delish dipped in butter or mayo. Love your videos! I learn so much!
Anyone else watch Jens videos to go to sleep? So relaxing!
Spa day, Ha! ❤️
Your skin looks great with no makeup on!
My 12 year old son loves you!Literally fights with me to see your videos!
It's the bain of our generation. We bought our house in 2006 too!

Thanks for the basement tour. It is a great space!!
Hi Jennifer Wisconsin just had a heatwarnimg about 2 weeks but it's only going to be in the upper 70 this week
If I could get done 1/2 of what you do I would be amazed 😅 Great job 😊
So you put the grill and burner tops/ discs in the dishwasher?! I need to try this!!
I had to go back and watch your old linked video - the kids were so small and cute!

I love having lists...they kind of keep you on track and as I'm getting older they are very helpful 🙂🐾🤗
Love the t shirt !!!!
Love your aqua shirt, where did you get it?
Spa day 😂. Lol
Maybe I missed this but how were the donut muffins?
Not my fave but they were ok.
Hey Jen, new subbie well newish. Loving your channel, little bit of everything! I’m not a young mom like you but still enjoying your channel. My kids (well kid) are grown now and on their own but I like the variety your channel has, something for everyone. 👍💜👍💜👍💜
Thank you!!
I will always think about the video I sent you when I hear Menards 😂😂🤷🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️
Also consider when you are taking foods with iron avoid taking tea and coffee within 2 hrs of the food because they decrease absorption 64% and 39% respectively.
I'm trying to find where you posted the link for your black neoprene face mask.
I use an immersion blender, though, and I think it's less clean up
I love your planner!!! Can you grocery plan in that one also?
Girl you need to eat breakfast every day!
Love your shirt! Those muffins look incredible! I’m going to make them tonight!
You don't need makeup. Your skin is beautiful. Your too hard on yourself. Jen take a break and give yourself one too.
I just love you! So refreshing to watch someone down to earth who is actually in touch with real life! ❤️
Ikr! I so agree with u..😃
So true! Those women who have a bunch of kids and their makeup and bodies and house are perfect are not relatable!
Lol
Yes, mini m&m’s taste better than big m&m’s!
Jen, I looked at your 2017 blog and where you previously lived. The kids were younger and so cute. As the saying goes “you’ve come a long way, baby”....luv your blogs and videos.
Aw thanks!
LOVE your t-shirt! ❤
Hi Jen!
I really enjoyed this video. I found this very inspiration and motivational. Thank you so much for filming these amazing videos, I always love to see the notification appear in my inbox, it always makes my day.
Much love to you and your family. Stay safe and take care, xx
Jen can you adopt me please? 🤣
So exited for a video! Can't wait to see the finish basement lookin good. Now my Friday night is complete lol thanks for the video Jen you go girl!
