Maybe you don't understand how it works. (I have a bit of experience in manufacturing in China and having parts OEM'ed in China.) When China produces something, and they're using components not made in China, and they are destined for machines sold INSIDE of China, they are usually ordering large amounts of these products. And just like if you were to have Chinese company, manufacture a component for you in bulk, you can specify every aspect of that component, and when China is having a non-Chinese company manufacture a component for them, they can specify every aspect of the product. (Materials, tolerance of machined parts, sub-assemblies and components, the color, and the brand, for example, "Anthony's Excavators.) So when they approach Kawasaki to make a component for them, for example, they'll tell Kawasaki that they want to use 303 stainless instead of titanium, or Delrin instead of Ultem, or any cost saving substitution. Kawasaki, who has a brand reputation to protects, tells them that they will make those substitutions, but only if EXC Inc. agrees to only sell the tractor inside of China. That's where grey market machines come in to play. When EXC Inc. tells Kawasaki that the machines will only be sold in China, but instead exports them to the U.S. Larger Chinese equipment manufactures that can't be bothered with grey market nonsense, they use brand name parts, but skimp out in other areas. Chinese steel is notoriously poor quality. They stick in a name brand power plant, like Kubota, that may or may not be made to the same specs that all their other Kubota engines that Kubota puts in their own machines, but other aspects of the machine are made sub-par. Everything, from using 15 gallons of paint instead of 30, to ultrasound weld inspections, to using off brand tires, hoses, paint, o-rings, wires, etc. And the worst part of it all, which one of the reps in the video mentioned, is labor. Poorly treated, poorly compensated, and a poorly trained labor force. People who have never been to, or even seen video of, these factories in China, are ignorant to just how poor the conditions are. They think that the poor working conditions aren't a thing in 2020, and think that "working conditions have greatly improved;" which they haven't. They have a, "If I don't see it, it doesn't bother me," mentality.
@@xenonram yea doesnt always work like that thats a misconception i have seen plenty of stuff that was built better than a us product and was still sold cheaper not saying all china stuff isnt cheap but these days i see better quality come from china then the us in a lot of stuff in my trade
After getting progressively angrier with the weasel-words and dodging of the other manufacturers, I really appreciated Josh with LuiGong. Don't BS me, just tell me the deal and let your product speak for itself. Period!
Breaking into markets so heavily saturated like that is hard. But I love to see a smaller company break down the giants and like the guy from XCMG said they’re not trying to take down the competition but just to get a piece of the pie. Distribution and parts I think are critical for them as well as mechanics but if you can argue price point and warranty then there’s a lot of potential there. Great video and hope to hear more in the future!
i got an Venieri 4.63D swingloader on the farm. love the machine gives very little trouble. and its some sort of a wheeled excavator with the turning load arm. strong and maneuverable. its from 2000 and got 12100 hours on the clock at the moment.
I find this so interesting. I've hit sales guys with the same set of questions in the machine tool industry and they act the same. They don't want to disclose their companies history or ownership. They don't have a good reason to buy there product other than its cheaper. Sometimes it seem like they get offended which doesn't make sense to me. In the end I bought from the guy I thought was most honest. (Which happens to be a Doosan Machine Tool hah!)
I think keeping a spare machine for parts is a good idea if it's mainly for the rare parts, like things that usually aren't in stock in large quantities, so like if some random part that usually doesn't break broke and the machine will be down for 2 weeks while the part is ordered amd shipped, or you can go pull it from the parts machine and send it to the customer in a day or two then order that part to fix the parts machine as time allows would be good but not just pulling more easy to get parts from it just because.
Sany for sure for an off market brand. 5yr / 5000hr warranty. Definitely curious to see when the brand progresses if anyone is going to have warranty claims issues. Time will tell. Definitely a brand worth checking out.
405 I think the guy got the right idea because if you got a complete machine to get the part off with learning what parts to stock especialy if a start upp company and want to make sure you get the part and buying a machine will be cheaper than parts
I'd rather buy a used Cat, Deere, or Volvo then a new no name. Hard to beat getting a part over night freight to you so you can get your machine up and running. The biggest advantage to the name brand are resale values.
I love the tough questions. You try to cut straight through the sales bs. You ask the real questions that sales hates! Sales: Here’s the features Stan: Who makes it and how do I get it fixed fast? Sales: Did we mention we are big in China.
A customer of mine who used to own a very large uk based construction and infrastructure company always swore by the italian equipment, he said they were always the best and his operators and mechanics were very fond of them.
This a word for word from Schwing's web page...2012 SCHWING’s success attracts a merger with XCMG, China’s largest manufacturer of construction equipment, to mutually benefit both companies growth. Gerhard Schwing continues the family tradition of leading the company with innovative products for the future
I agree with you about Cat. You do get what you pay for. And the onsite service is killer. I had a stationary triplex pump powered with a 3412. I had a bearing fail and needed a new crankshaft. The next day the tech was back withh all new bottom end to the engine. Crank, bearings, oil pump, ect. 6 hours later i was back up and running. It was changed out on the skid. Amazing service. It was expensive but the pump was down about 36 hours. Very cool.
We run Cat and mostly Komatsu equipment with some smaller Kubota and Deere machines also. Testing and buying a Sany sy500H. Super well built and legit 20% less than a Komatsu, Link Belt, and Maybe 30% less than a Cat. Time will tell. So Far impressed.
It is nice to see some competition out there, a lot of us know CAT and all the others, but sometimes it is really nice to see some of the others that are out there. I have had great experiences with CAT and also some very trying ones. Competition is good for the business!
Well this is the normal course of business thought with airplanes since there's documentation that follows the components around, and a lot of stuff is reconditioned constantly. And this is both military and civilian.
My father was a B-17 pilot in WWII, and when he flew his brand new B-17 across the pond to England, they striped it of needed parts. The parts from that one new B-17 probably kept a dozen or more B-17s up and flying.
@@MrMichaeljab I have a good friend who was a top turret gunner in a B-17 .... Several years ago there was a local air show .... The crew allowed him to accompany them to their following show. What an experience it was for him. We owe our very existence to those brave men and women!! Thank you for your dad's service. God Bless their hearts!
Stan...The robbing parts thing is something that I have done in the computer industry. It's not that we don't try to keep parts in stock that we can send you a new part, but rather on the off chance that there WAS a supply shortage AND there was an emergency need for a part at the same time, I'm going to make sure that we get a part to you ASAP by yanking it new off the spare. It's not my preferred method of replacing something, but if it makes my customer happy, I'd rather do that than have my customer offline. Then, at the customer's discretion, if they want the part replaced with new parts stock when it arrives, I'll do that. Otherwise, I bring my spare back up to operable condition for the next "just in case." More often than not, my customers are happy that the equipment is working with the pull-part and don't take me up on that offer, but I DO make the effort. If these guys offer the same service, I say good on them!!!
Exactly. Even some well known brands like Komatsu are brutal for parts. A big loader went down at the quarry and it was down for 5 days for a simple hydraulic hose that uses some proprietary fitting. What nonsense.
Traded in XCMG equipment for a while now. In Asian countries they are big and I have to say - we've had no trouble with them there. Def looking forward to them producing in the US.
Thanks for the video it's nice to see someone willing to do the leg work and let us know about the equipment out their and some of those company employee could give a stright answer
6:16 in fact, every machine in Europe is equipped with hydraulic side to side boom, it is a standard for at least 15 years, even cat is equipped in europe. (maybe the exception are machines from Sweden/Norway [Hydrema, Huddig, Lannen and old Volvo TLB-s] they rather use tiltrotator)

Stan, hope you had a terrific holiday season abundantly filled with many blessings! Just before this video I was looking at a video of a Sandy mini excavator. I think it was something like 13 or 15 horsepower and I had never heard of them. My biggest fear is getting parts from overseas in this video was most enlightening, even the owner operator comments! I'm looking for something small but have a lot of education to accomplish for decisions not for business but personal residential use. Anyway thanks bunches
Just recently bought a rig with a cat engine. Someone stole the oil fill cap when I was in Missouri, had to get the replacement shipped to my house from Georgia. Zip-tired 2 rags over the whole for 11 days.
keep in mind a lot of the steel they get in china came from the us as scrap metal so those rusty wore out junk you took in for scrap is what they are using to build new equipment out of and I don't know how strong that stuff really is
Sany has a good warranty, but Cat offered a 6 year 3000 hour warranty that can be extended at the end of 6 years by an additional 2 years. That is bumper to bumper, parts labor and they even tow the machine to their shop. The only exception is anything related to the A/C. 3000 hours though isn't much but if you use the machine sparing ling and minimize needless idling...you can really squeeze that out of it.
Thank you, I appreciate the Video. I rather enjoyed the videos you make. I thought it very Curious how uneasy everyone seemed on your video today. It was like they just didn’t know their product that well. Except the Vanrieri whatever Italian company, he seemed confident. I don’t mind the idea of getting a loaner part ASAP and then being replaced by a new part when it gets in from China or what have you. Very interesting. I’m not sure I’d be jumping into one of these either. Thanks again.
Sany is becoming well known in Europe because they acquired major shares in Putzmeister concrete pumps & Palfinger mobile - & truck cranes . Sany diggers are more common these days in Europe than CAT or Hitachi . But Volvo heavy equipment is still wearing the crown overhere . The guy from Vinieri mentioned MERLO , a brand well respected for over 35 years now on producing high quality telehandlers .
Thats not true at all. You never see Sany around here and Cat and Liebherr definetly wear the crown and they haven’t got major shares at Palfinger just 7%
The Schwing and XCMG thing is very similar to when you mention that the Stihl ride on mowers are very similar to the AL-KO ride on mowers that are sold in the UK and Europe. Even Honda ride on mowers we get over here in the UK and Europe aren't strictly made by Honda but a swedish Italian manufacturer Stiga.
All of the equipment is nice when it's new. The real test is does the dealer stock parts and if the parts aren't in stock how long to get them? With my local John Deere dealer, it they don't have the part in stock, and I order before COB on Tuesday, the part comes in on Thursday. If I order after Tuesday it comes in the following Monday. If it is a critical part that is delaying a job, JD will do 1-day shipping.
My 1 reason to buy 1 of these brands is cost. 2 would be service and parts availability 3 nearest dealer and how quick a service truck could be there. So far I am leaning towards sany for a 6 to 7 ton excavator with thumb and different buckets available for it. Have a great day be safe.
I imagine with Schwing specifically it's because they're known for being a german company, and for the reputation of "german engineering" that comes with that. If they openly admit to being a Chinese owned subsidiary it could have a negative black lash in terms of public perception. That said, I agree with you, being shady and dishonest is not the way to earn the trust of a potential customer.
Cat I own a 312 cl. / 2- 307. / D4 and a 416 I spent at lot up front but long run 28 k Over 20 years in parts. Spent 400k up front on all but made 2.8m with them.
I've owned a lot of different really good name brands including John Deere. And nobody and I mean nobody can beat Caterpillar on parts availability and service! The majority of parts is same day or next day. Yes you pay for it but it saves you more money than it costs you by far on downtime due to their reliability and readily available parts network, and their resale value holds high compared to other equipment. So you save 20% when purchasing that Chinese equipment new but when you go to sell you probably lose 50% compared to Cat so in turn you actually lose money with the cheaper stuff. As far as robbing parts Belarus farm tractor dealers had to do the same thing for customers so all the dealerships had dozens of brand new parted out machines at each dealership because parts were simply not available. My dad was glad he didn't start a Belarus dealership when they came to his equipment dealership wanting him to become a dealer. Great video Stan!
@@shaints3 I live in a very heavy area of construction and agriculture in the Pacific Northwest and you could drive all day long and not find 1 abandoned Caterpillar machine. If there was any I would buy them to resale because older cat equipment brings big money here as far as older machinery is concerned. A lot of times it brings more money than newer equipment.
@@clydeacor1911 yeah rebuilt and refurbished machines have a hefty price tag. The older the cooler in my opinion. Back when everything was cable driven it was a different era. Now a days everything has Bluetooth heat a/c defrost, a cab in general. Had to be one tough s.o.b back then to be running those machines.
So I work military fighter jets. There has been a "Cann Bird" at every base I've been to. It is very common to rob parts from the cann bird to fix another jet. Parts are still ordered through the supply chain and are used to replace the canned parts. It speeds up turn around times because instead of waiting 3 days for a replacement part, you can have a fixed jet in a day.
I have Caterpillar I like the fact that I can get any part that visit to dealership. Another thing to consider is that you can use them for a few years sell them and not loose lots of money. Speaking with a huge used equipment dealership that sells Hitachi, JD, Komatsu , Volvo, JCB, Case etc that Caterpillar holds there value the best explaining why some of the excavators can reach 16,000 hrs. I think talking with mechanics that work on all brands are your best knowledge for equipment reliability and parts quality build is everything they all break some just more than others.
Thanks for this video along with the others as well!! Biggest problem with these new brands is the quality of the dealer network and the parts availability as you touch on in the video. Had a colleague who bought an "off-brand" front-end loader but then the dealer in Las Vegas went out of business with the next-nearest dealer in Los Angeles (300 miles away). This is obviously a big problem.
Venieri is manufactured nealy where i live.I can say of these machines that are simple, essential without many frills, but as far as I have used them, they have proven to be reliable.I don't know the others brands.
Using a brand new machine for parts picking is not that unheard of actually. As for XCMG, the sales guy had them at number 5. Worldwide I believe they're number 3, with Sany and Zoomlion just behind. Only Caterpillar and Komatsu are bigger. Solely talking bulldozers, Shantui are the biggest manufacturer. Caterpillar is a distant second. Schwing is majority owned by XCMG, and Dressta are now owned by LiuGong.
We did it all the time at the Komatsu dealer i worked at. If a part as back ordered for weeks we would rob it off a new one we had in stock. Dealers do it all over the place.
We’ve got a bunch of these machines available in Australia already. Sany, XCMG, liugong, etc. I’ve operated a few of them & they’re pretty rubbish long term. The mini skid loader segment here is saturated with Chinese imports & I still spend the extra $ and bought a Vermeer. Not worth risking my time & money on an unproven machine
@@ashishpatel350 An absolutely valid point!! Let's say someone takes a risk and sinks thousands into a lower-cost machine .... Several years into the extended use these machines incur, it becomes unfeasible to keep putting money into it, and either sale or trade is necessary .... Test one out one day or if you are in Toronto Canada one day. Contact me. I have driven other machines and for the price and excellent reliability, they rock.
while over all I agree to the point it is better to get a never installed part (used even if the machine has never worked) that is in stock, all brands have parts shortages here and there, and it is good that a company takes steps to make sure a part is available one way or another even if not by a perfect means
I'm going to tell you something that you don't know about Chinese products, The real problem is not the spare parts, the problem is the steel they use if a piece of steel cracks, you cannot weld, due to the poor quality of the material Another thing is when they say cummins engine, if you are a little smart you will know that it is a copy of a cummins and not a real one.
cummins does have some china built motors because i have had to work on it, it is one that is used as a generator and so far it has had a few electrical problems so even when a well known brand has something made in china its still crap. but the cummins engines made in usa that i have worked on are a lot better quality. i was shocked when i looked at the engine data plate and it said manufactured in china
@@bergerk20 the v8 cummins in the dodge rams and Nissan Titans are chinese built. The Foton Tunland here is very similar in the drive train as the Jeep Wrangler j.k diesel i have but the Fotons engine is 4 cylinder 2.8 liter cummins.

Super impressive interviewing 👍 love how you have no issue asking important questions point blank 👍👍👍
Thank you !!
As a mechanic it sucks to maintain a fleet of old equipment that parts have to be fabled because they are no longer available.
The struggle is real... or fabracobling sh*t from scratch... "make it work" *shudders* seems to be standard practice in the rental equipment biz.
Thank you, more to come !!
The name brand guys don’t like it when you tell them y’all aren’t the only equipment around. Lol.
Great video.
i got an Venieri 4.63D swingloader on the farm. love the machine gives very little trouble. and its some sort of a wheeled excavator with the turning load arm. strong and maneuverable. its from 2000 and got 12100 hours on the clock at the moment.
I like it when you ask the tough questions -- Like, do you have parts?
"You call me and i will find them" not exactly the service i want on a 100k plus piece of equipment lol
Sany makes great excavators. Well built. I have a friend who sells them. Great machines
17yrs in the oilfield. We had numerous pieces of equipment we cannibalized for parts.
The biggest advantage to the name brand are resale values.
yep... except when the "name brand" demands 80+% of almost full price for something thats....WORN OUT...
Ok. So buy a used cat, deere, or Volvo.
Some of those reps seem shady
They built a new sany dealership in a town not to far from me. Here in Iowa
I love the tough questions. You try to cut straight through the sales bs. You ask the real questions that sales hates!
Sales: Here’s the features
Stan: Who makes it and how do I get it fixed fast?
Sales: Did we mention we are big in China.
A customer of mine who used to own a very large uk based construction and infrastructure company always swore by the italian equipment, he said they were always the best and his operators and mechanics were very fond of them.
We have a 2009 louging where I work and it's been nothing but a problem. Only has 3000 hrs it was bought new.
Very cool.
THATS A GOOD FEATURE SIDE TO SIDE BACKHOE
We run Cat and mostly Komatsu equipment with some smaller Kubota and Deere machines also. Testing and buying a Sany sy500H. Super well built and legit 20% less than a Komatsu, Link Belt, and Maybe 30% less than a Cat. Time will tell. So Far impressed.
It is nice to see some competition out there, a lot of us know CAT and all the others, but sometimes it is really nice to see some of the others that are out there. I have had great experiences with CAT and also some very trying ones. Competition is good for the business!
Thanks for the comments Edward !
That happens all the time in the airplanes world.taking parts from one aircraft to be used in a another..They call them hanger Queens..
We fly because we cann. 😉
@@MrMichaeljab so your dad was then standing around not flying and sippin ale n eating meat pies in a cool English tavern?.
Schwing! Wayne's World. Party Time. Excellent.
your trade show vids are great. I've been to CAT proving grounds and CON AG and wish I could go every year. Thanks again!
Thank you and happy that you like them !
I have a hard enough time getting Kioti parts. People would need to be crazy to buy that off brand equipment
Exactly. Even some well known brands like Komatsu are brutal for parts. A big loader went down at the quarry and it was down for 5 days for a simple hydraulic hose that uses some proprietary fitting. What nonsense.
I hauled in all this equipment for this expo. 2 weeks to get everything setup for this expo and CONEXPO
Haul any pump trucks lol
I’m from Malaysia and we see xcmg everywhere. Boring machine. Tower crane. Mixer truck. Etc. man they are huge

(maybe the exception are machines from Sweden/Norway [Hydrema, Huddig, Lannen and old Volvo TLB-s] they rather use tiltrotator)
batmann2o Yes it is Danish but it dose articulate like otheres, and i would not call it sideshift, Yes you can move your boom from side to side but it is not a sideshift
JCB has had a sideshift boom since the early 70's..standard on all JCB's..
@@garethifan1034 glad I wasn't the only one that noticed the gardener who is apparently an expert on heavy equipment didn't know the largest maker of backhoe in the world makes a powered side to side backhoe, yes you can get a mechanical one too but they have been making powered oones for a very long time

Competition is awesome for the end user. Always has been. I love that new companies (to us) are trying to establish themselves in the Americas. Sany and LuiGong for the record are enormous companies in China. Just look them up. Their factories will blow you away. As a guy who is tired of Deere charging me $1000 to walk through their door I'm very happy to see that options are growing.
Great info. Some of those guys were just pulling stuff out of the air like "it's made out of steel" lol.
Thanks for watching !
keep in mind a lot of the steel they get in china came from the us as scrap metal so those rusty wore out junk you took in for scrap is what they are using to build new equipment out of and I don't know how strong that stuff really is
Sany has a good warranty, but Cat offered a 6 year 3000 hour warranty that can be extended at the end of 6 years by an additional 2 years.
Thank you Chap C, happy to hear that you enjoy the vids !
Buddy bought a new sany and he isn't disappointed
Sany is becoming well known in Europe because they acquired major shares in Putzmeister concrete pumps & Palfinger mobile - & truck cranes . Sany diggers are more common these days in Europe than CAT or Hitachi . But Volvo heavy equipment is still wearing the crown overhere . The guy from Vinieri mentioned MERLO , a brand well respected for over 35 years now on producing high quality telehandlers .
Thats not true at all. You never see Sany around here and Cat and Liebherr definetly wear the crown and they haven’t got major shares at Palfinger just 7%
Luigong skid loader lookin like a new bobcat
The Schwing and XCMG thing is very similar to when you mention that the Stihl ride on mowers are very similar to the AL-KO ride on mowers that are sold in the UK and Europe. Even Honda ride on mowers we get over here in the UK and Europe aren't strictly made by Honda but a swedish Italian manufacturer Stiga.
Merlo is HUGE in Europe, they are the market leaders in telescopic loaders, way bigger than CAT or any others
Party on Wayne. Shwing!
I have a cat 924G the back window got broken it was $850.00 for the glass plus install so around $950.00 with shipping
Dressta was previously Dresser, and before that International. Sany are a great machine. XCMG are a proven earthmover.
Why are a lot of those dudes so mysterious with the info? It doesn't exactly make a potential new customer feel all warm and fuzzy inside.
If the follicley impaired guy at Schwing had stopped talking any faster I think he would have blown his recoil 🤣
Schwing pumps suck too lmao
That one guy was about to tell it straight until he was stopped

The Merlo’s are pretty common in europe, especially the telehandlers.
They sell em here in canada too
Have em in Iceland too I just hear good things about them!
And in New Zealand and they’re a pretty good machine
There’s a few in the states here too. I’m familiar with the turbo farmer telehandlers
They are realy good machines also a quality barnd is Hydrema
Yeah I agree rexroth drive motors are good pick on the xcav8 machines
Thanks Clyde, I appreciate the comments !!
@@Dirtmonkey you betchya.
is this why you find so many cats abandoned in fields with major problems !
Thanks for watching Neil and for commenting !
Schwing was acquired back in 2012. XCMG IS STATE owned construction company.

Dealers do it all over the place.

while over all I agree to the point it is better to get a never installed part (used even if the machine has never worked) that is in stock, all brands have parts shortages here and there, and it is good that a company takes steps to make sure a part is available one way or another even if not by a perfect means
I'm going to tell you something that you don't know about Chinese products,
The real problem is not the spare parts, the problem is the steel they use
if a piece of steel cracks, you cannot weld, due to the poor quality of the material

Chinese steel is garbage. Ya it works and the price is right but once you've operated and repaired a quality machine you'll understand.
cummins does have some china built motors because i have had to work on it, it is one that is used as a generator and so far it has had a few electrical problems so even when a well known brand has something made in china its still crap. but the cummins engines made in usa that i have worked on are a lot better quality. i was shocked when i looked at the engine data plate and it said manufactured in china
