Before you all ask.. The hanging height for the Maxibright was 30cm, the MIGRO Economy was 30cm and the Growers Choice was 40cm (the growers choice reflector is narrower than the other 2 and needs a higher hanging height to keep the centre PAR level at 1,000)
Great vid Shane...thank you. Is it safe to assume then that 30 cms (or 40 if using the Growers Choice set up) is an appropriate height off a plant canopy? I'm just concerned about UV and burning/bleaching. Been having some issues in my tent and trying to eliminate things to narrow down the source. Thanks dude...
@@TheMisanthrope. Hi, I calibrate the height using a quantum sensor which is easy because I just lower until the centre, and highest, PAR reading is about 1,000 PAR (the sun is 2,000 art mid day). Thanks for the info , I've been using the 315 cmh for a few years now and I can tell you from experience that the cmh gives more potent buds ! I have run several of the same clone's for a few year's now so I know exactly how they grow under a 600-1000 watt hps , the 315 plants are more potent ! I'm not a scientist but I assume it's because of the high UV ! 4x4 room , 1 -315 and two 150 watt hps , replaced one 1000 hps , works for me 26c !
It's due to the range of the light spectrum, UV included. Don't let anybody tell you different! That bulb creates the closest thing to the suns light spectrum.

I have a question I am wanting to run 2 315 w cmh fixtures. I also have a 400w double ended hamelton balist and fixture I am thinking on running for a few hours a day for a more intense blue when vegging. The bulbs for the hamelton fixture are for a salt water aquarium they come in 10000 to 25000 k and you can also get them in a super blue or atinic . the bulbs are in full spectrum. they simulate the sun at a water depth of up to 25ft. with no loss of the benifical light and form what I understand the higher the k raiting the better the penetration. If used I will be placing this fixture between the 315w fixtures and running it for 4 hrs in the middle of the day with the idea to simulate high noon when the sun is in the highest position of day in the sky.. I have found little info on these types of bulbs. Like a color temp graph. The other question is can I clone under the 315 lights. Also Phillips now makes a 4200k bulb how soes this compare to your brand bulbs? Thank you for your time in answering my questions. I am new to growing and in a legal state... Martin
More of the light must be bounced off the reflector with a vertical bulb so they are generally less efficient. Also the he reflector has to be deeper to fit the bulb which makes them higher and they require more vertical space. Overall a bad idea for grow lighting.

hate how companies always compare old school hps with only red to new lights. these are decent fr veg, fail for flower compared to dual spectrum hps. the ones we used for years now, not them old school hps. to be honest all this did was test the shades reflection. their all shaped diff and gives off diff results. prove the ought then use all same shades too
I have one but I kept the bulb the same. The test was to compare the overall fixtures. There is a bulb comparioson video on the channel also. They are mostly within 5% of eachother for output.
Ummmmmm, I notice you don't have the best CMH bulb in your video. Cultilux with UV-X is smashing the competition in the 315 game and setting the new bar with the first ever manufactured 1000w DE CMH. In fact if you look at Cultilux's old 500w arc tube and GCs 500w arc tube you will see they are using our outdated technology. Look them up my friend. You have nothing to lose
GC has definitely been hurtin feelings this year lol. We get it shane you hate cmh and i probably would to if i was a led manufacturer. Your results are completely useless. Last video you run them on the same controller , this video you use your bulb on all units. Completely pointless , would you use the same drivers to compair leds ? Would you change diodes ? No , you compair one unit with another one and list the price of each like all your other "fair" comparison videos. Really shady Shane.

Thanks and yes we are out of stock for a month. Had a problem with a batch of heat sinks and have to wait until more are made. Not the best start to the new year....we will be back in action in February. Sign up to the website for an email notification when we are back in stock
Does your migro led outperform your migro cmh ?
samuel desrosiers I think it does
ceili will i get dense flowers with migro led as with a cmh or hps ?
samuel desrosiers the led is well over 2um per watt while the cmh is only 1.29um per watt. Although cmh puts out a much better spectrum vs led.
Hello, Yes the MIGRO LED is more efficient. The 215W MIGRO 200 is about the same output as a 340W MIGRO Economy CMH
At what height do you hang lights away from seedlings?
30 inch depending on intensity and heat
How about sun system
When do you recommend using those ? When you have less capital to invest ?
After your ass gets sore from the LED guys taking turn's on you.
The best for 2019? But you've got all off brands?
They all about to learn Be!!!!!
Is my 2x2.5 tent too small for a 315cmh?
2ft x 2.5ft is 0.6m x 0.75m = 0.42m3. The PAR output from the CMH is about 500PAR so your average PAR would be 500/0.42 = 1,190. This is too high and need to be under 900. You need a 3ft x 3ft tent for a 315w CMH
Where can I buy your light from in the uk London ...seems it's the best value for money
Damn I wish you'd tested the Dimlux 315's - I have two of those bad-boys that I run alongside my Cree 3590's. HLG Quantum Boards and ChilledTECH puck. I'd love to see how they compare to the other models on the market. Great video as usual mate.
Canna bis hey, how does the quantum board compare to your two dimlux? I’m trying to choose between led and cmh. Thanks from another cannabiphile!
what is pricing difference between them?
Google. This is a quality review not welfare weed
Do a review on the spydrx plus or the spydrx 2i
you haven't test our cmh light yet
Send me it and I will test it
Si why do anyone buy any light except cmh?
Love this light
I dont understand why he does not tell you the recommended height for the other two lights, he just gives you the height for the migro.
Very helpful video, thanks, and respect.
I got 2 #migro315cmh lights for the flower room last year and the plants love them. Ima get another for my veg room. Very good light for veg or flower.
@CHICANO’S WITH DANK I would say, 630 cmh =1000 hps
hate how companies always compare old school hps with only red to new lights. these are decent fr veg, fail for flower compared to dual spectrum hps. the ones we used for years now, not them old school hps.
to be honest all this did was test the shades reflection. their all shaped diff and gives off diff results. prove the ought then use all same shades too
Should have used the Growers Choice bulb
I have one but I kept the bulb the same. The test was to compare the overall fixtures. There is a bulb comparioson video on the channel also. They are mostly within 5% of eachother for output.
Best veg light ever!
Cmh are the best! The Girls love it.
dimlux is the best
Yo
Cmh 👍
😀😀
Great info but you sucking your teeth every ten seconds almost made it unwatchable
I cannot understand why people use this technology when there are cob leds that double the efficiency (ppfd/w). 😕
That's a valid point.
thanks for all the quality content / tests!
would love to see test results of the dimlux 315w fixture :)
do you think between low frequency and uhf are big differences?
Hi Shane have you tested an adjustawing 315cmh. Would be interested in how they perform.
