Indeed. I would've killed to have both tone and vibrato control like Ray Thomas. I really looked up to him all those decades I'd listened religiously to the Moody Blues and their Classic 7 albums.
Ray was amazing they were all important, but they would have succeeded if ray hadnt existed ray would have had a singing career post go now moodies, but justin and john pushed things forward to what they became, along with mikes magical mellotron!
Very powerful, indeed. This song as well as all of the Moody Blues songs have meaning. If you have that "special" ear, then you'll understand. God bless the Moody Blues and all of their fans! 🙂
Dearly Loved Ray with his incredible voice that could, and did, fill huge concert halls. A superbly performed version of Eternity Road - one of my much loved songs from TOCCC.
Love ya Ray. You sang this absolutely wonderful. It is one of my favorite songs that I play everyday in my car along with all of my other favorite MBs songs. Who needs the radio when you have a cd in the car playing the Moody Blues.
They are all so amazing & I really miss seeing them live. I saw them here as a babe in 1996 🙌🏼🎸🎶🎶🎶 Ray Thomas was also excellent with his voice, every member of the band has talent & a voice of gold. #1 band of all time ☮
This one and "For My Lady." A simple song but it had a Caledonia/Irish feel to it and painted a powerful picture of the storms of life and the calming presence of our loved ones. Was always a favorite of mine, and truly distinguished the Moody Blues as one of the mellowest prog rock bands of the era.
Such a wonderful, powerful voice, it's a shame Ray's role in the band diminished to the point of obscurity, before his eventual retirement in 2002. This song has always been one of my favorites!
What a fabulous Voice Ray has such lovely deep tones - what a shame the women's voices don't add anything. Ray Thomas's voice stands on its own wonderful. Great recording! Thanks
Rachel Gilders it seems like the womens's voices are used to fill in the high notes that John Lodge sang. It took awhile to realize it was John who had those mesmerizing falsetto vocals. But also, as I was reading notes about the Moodies, their studio recordings were heavily overdubbed, making it difficult back then to produce that orchestral sound onstage. Those classic 7 albums are still what defined them. But I agree, Ray Thomas's baritone vocals stood out on its own, and its sad he lost a courageous battle with cancer. Now he's traveling eternity road. RIP Ray Thomas! You'll always be a legend in our minds.
woW..i am impressed..I didnt have this video..great song!!! Do you have video you can post of Dear iary (they played this on the summer 1987 tour of USA) or Candle of Life--played several years ago (2007 (?) on a few shows....

The Moodies wouldn’t have so great without Ray. No other rock singer sang like him. Such a powerful voice. RIP Ray.

Ray had an absolutely beautiful voice! Would love to have heard him sing more solos!

That entire album was a masterpiece. So hard to rank all the Classic 7 albums, but I'd put _TOCCC_ 2nd behind _Seventh Sojourn._
This song is my #1 favorite of Ray's. He was such an incredible part of the Moody Blues style.
Such incredible memories of seeing them in Las Vegas in '95. Got to meet Ray in 2000. I think of him often. Thank you for sharing your gift. 💙💙💙💙
We will miss you Ray. Rest in peace and thank you for the beautiful music from you to our hearts.

....Ray's Legend....Traveling Eternity road.....Thanks Ray.....
Great performance! We love you, Ray!
Ray sounds great, and Justin on his guitar. I wonder if Johm Lodge is playing off to the side somewhere.

in our minds.
I always objected to them. Female voices always sounded out of place on their songs.
@@designerlarry he didn't die from cancer, he had a massive heart attack.
Great!!!!
traveling eternity road - RIP Ray
Golden voice of Ray Thomas! R.I.P.
What a band unbelievable music

Hark listen here he comes
Hark listen here he comes
Turning, spinning, Catherine wheeling
For ever changing
There's no beginning
Speeding through a charcoal sky
Observe the truth we cannot hide
Traveling eternity road
What will you find there?
Carrying your heavy load
Searching to find a piece of mind
You'll see us all around
You'll see us all around
Turning, spinning, Catherine wheeling
For ever changing
There's no beginning
You're so very far from home
And so very much alone
Traveling eternity road
What will you find there?
Carrying your heavy load
Searching to find a piece of mind
Traveling eternity road
What will you find there?
Carrying your heavy load
Searching to find a piece of mind
