      @wyattjackson977 6 месяцев назад +1

      @@savagetuner2404you’re right about the cams and the power those motors are capable of. But to add to what you said, these cars are also extremely restricted of air which I didn’t know until recent years. Go to the 30ish second mark and look at the air intake. It’s a huge opening taking in lots of air, but if you look at the little “snout” that connects the air inlet to the carbon part of the intake manifold, the tube is maybe 2 inches in diameter at the most? If they weren’t restricted that thing could easily be 5 inches or more, basically the same diameter as the dryer appliance tubing that is just before the little “snout” I’m talking about. If that makes any sense at all lol. Either way, YES this car could make MUCH more power.

    • @2K-Tan
      @2K-Tan 4 года назад +12

      Yes but it's what the original designer of the Corvette, Zora wanted for decades, hence the possible rotary prototype ones that almost made production. It may not be "traditional" but you have to understand that is the route that will bring "supercar performance" to people that don't have the means for Europe's price tags.
      Even though it's an amazing car, The thing the Vette has always lacked has been the handling and weight distro advantages you get from being mid engined and a relatively smaller displacement. The Corvette has the potential to take down the likes of Ferrari and Lamborghini with the C8 for WAY LESS money. UNHEARD of for a Corvette production car
      5.5 may seem "small" to you but that's absolutely MASSIVE compared to most mid engined European counterparts. Just give it a shot before you write it off.
      I'm here for the same exact reason you are though.. Nothing like an old Vette. The C5 Z06 in Millennium Yellow is my dream Corvette, Odd choice I know but the C5 being the last year of the popups and that iconic shape really does it for me.

    The new C8 might sound nice in its own right but man is this just the sound of America and boy am I going to miss it. Cherish our beautiful ICE engines while we have them people. An electric future just won't ever have the sensory overload that these machines have.

    • @hugejohnson5011

      I am 56, and I know that big V8 engines will be around for me to hear, in one form or another for the rest of my life. Unless some world dictator has them all crushed, or the world ends, there are so many of them on the globe, they will be around when people are driving nuclear reactor recharged electric cars. So, no matter how young you are, don't fret, as I like to believe that enthusiasts will keep American V8 engines as part of the soundscape for a long time to come.

      When you participate in an event that requires restrictor plates, it doesn't matter how big your engine is.
      ----The hole in the restrictor plate will only allow a maximum amount of air mass through in a certain period of time, and this amount of air mass is equal to a number, "M". An engine is fixed-efficiency system. Pushrod, 4-valve, rotary, it doesn't matter. Efficiency*displacement*Cyclic depth*RPM*conversion factor = Ms. When Ms=M, the restrictor plate is maxed out. On the approach, it introduces a 10% cut to Ms, then at Ms, it declines in a hyperbola.
      -- The cylinders breathe in an oscillating pattern. The restrictor is meant to allow a certain amount of air on average, so it must be mounted away from the cylinders. On the cylinder side, an air reservoir is needed, which is called a plenum. A well-designed plenum will make the most out of a given operating speed.

      The C8 is a roadcar, and subject to tighter noise regulations than this C5 R.

      Yes, the C8 has a flat plane crank, but the upcomming C8 R is slated to have entirely different engine, now granted it will most likely be a flat plane crank engine, but as it currently stands we don't know.
