Went in to the ER unable to breathe and swollen IMMENSELY. Triage (male) doctor said it must be anxiety, I should work on slowing my breathing, and left me in the lobby for a bit until another patient saw my state and got another doctor to check on me. Turns out it was a severe allergic reaction and I needed steroids asap :)
Well as a male I went into the ER abd had a female dr. I left 2 days later without a gallbladder. Every dr I saw after this said it was totally unnecessary
All of my doctors are women and I absolutely love it. Female doctors are great communicators, they are great listeners and they deeply care for their patients.
I'm a guy (patient) who prefers a FEMALE doctor as my Primary Care Provider, especially an Internist (if I can get one). The female doctors LISTENED BETTER and asked me more questions, and usually would sacrifice more of their TIME (instead of running me out the door in 15 minutes)
I went to an older male OB/ GYN in 2003 and was told: I had to be on two medications for 'the rest of my life', at a cost of $70 per month (with insurance) or $140 (cash). He also claimed that Pap tests are absolutely never wrong. He then claimed that I had to be put in the hospital for days and have some of my female body parts removed due to scary Pap test results. His nurse called me over 25 times (at work and at home) so I could make arrangements for this 'needed' surgery. The doctor also sent certified letters to my home, claiming that if I didn't get this surgery, I'd be 'filled with cancer'. I then got a 2nd opinion from a younger female OB/ GYN. She redid the Pap test. Nope, no body parts needed to be removed, no hospital stay, either. And with walking more and lifestyle changes, no need to take two medications 'for the rest of my life.' Nope, I never got 'filled with cancer' either. That said.... seeing a woman doctor saved me money, time, stress, drama, and gaslighting.
I ONLY go to female doctors (when i have a choose). They believe you, and will treat you. Male doctors just disregard your or think your overreacting. I cant express how much ive suffered from seeing male Drs.
Just today I went in for a sick note, and asked for a full panel of hormones. The doctor actually refused me, and told me at my “age there is no need for these types of tests”. I said to him, “I deserve what blood tests I ask for , I’ve had no more than three blood tests in 20 years. “ It’s not often I get assertive or demanding with professionals, but I was so insulted. Pfft “my age”.
Well this is what they should have been seeing all their lives. Including gynecologist. Drs. And men should only see Male drs. Because they can relate better with the same gender
I seen both have my entire life had 1 issue and it was a women but it was resolved quickly with another only this time male. It may be the place your located or the place itself. There are a lot of doctors out there that just mainly want a paycheck sadly and have lost there way on why they became a doctor in the first place. From my experience it wasn't horrible she just didn't know how to count properly and told me something different wouldn't have killed me or anything just didn't feel listend to. The case worker that they provided for patients called me cause I didn't seem myself and to see if I was ok. I'm glad I don't have issues like others do cause Iv read so many terrifying experiences and I can only imagine how that makes them feel.
People lie, I have lied saying I felt embarrassed but I’m completely lying and no one knows that I’m lying, people just believe everything I say. Even negative emotions can be fake and you would never guess it.
I prefer female doctors because I feel more cared for and more understood. Easier to communicate things that I would not say to a male doctor.

Kudos to you for advocating for yourself and getting a 2nd opinion.
I am so glad that you got a second opinion. Your first doctor scares me.

So, in other words- invest in women and make higher education affordable and accessible.
I invest in women... I just leave the money on the dresser (or in the g-string)... ;-P
Yes to women in education! It is very worth it ❤❤❤
Yes for men and women. Female des. for females Male drs for males. You do know we all have a choice on what dr to see

This is no surprise to me

It’s extremely offensive to tell others what they should be when they don’t want to be a doctor, stop doing that.

Yeah, but then again they can also be some of the most gaslit by female physicians too... see it every day.
You’re not helpful, you don’t know what you’re talking about stop being ingrained to think you know a random person when you don’t.
They’re talking about a study, not personal opinion.
