    I love nitrous. Of course in our small European or Japanese engines we cannot put as much power as on your V8"for why I dont live in usa ;-(" but Iove when I sent 100shot in progressiv on my miata. Nitrous is for me , the only supercharger capable of triggering this power whenever you want and the only lag of n2o is the resistance in ohms in the wires. Nos is boss for little budget !

    • @rotor13
      @rotor13 2 года назад +4

      Nitrous is only rough on engines if your ring gap isn't set properly and if you're just using a simple button or RPM trigger to have the hit all at once. With progressive nitrous controllers, you can have an extremely wide power band. They have an older nitrous video where they prove its far more gentle on the engine when a progressive controller controls flow than just using a button. They also prove that setting ring gap for the maximum shot you're going to use is important, because they broke ring lands on a few cylinders.
      Even better with those progressive controllers, is that not only can you tune the nitrous flow, but also fuel flow so that you maximize the performance gain and not wash your cylinders out.
      Generally speaking on OEM engines, you can get away with running as much as a 100-125shot before needing to start opening up the ring gap by a few thou.

I watched the RPMs scream up while the mph dropped down. Seriously confused I let off the throttle and the rear end snaps back straight. Do I have to change the timing back and fourth between "runs"? This kind of sound like deflating the tires for a street light run and then inflating when going to the store. I'll guess and say that Nitrous is just for the drag strip and not for light to light sprints.

But with the push of a button it turns from a sporty naturally aspirated car into a race car. Only when I want to. A turbo, blower etc. on the other hand is always engaged and you always have a little more wear.

The 5.0 coyote question was more of a personal question as I’m thinking about putting nitrous on my 2015 mustang GT but I want to make sure I get the biggest shot possible without risking it blowing up which from what I’ve read online is about 100 or 150 shot.

    • @Antiganos

      It clears the lines of anything "non-nitrous" which ensures that when you hit the fun button it's nothing but clean nitrous oxide and instant power. Sort of same philosophy as doing a burnout and "wasting" tire to ensure a quicker launch.

      @Matt Rodgers yes but there is a point at X amount of bottles where you break even between the two. I suppose it comes down to application and how much usage it will have.

      @@evanc6110 i tend to agree. you have to compare the cost of the nitrous refills plus the cost of the nitrous system vs the cost of the turbo and the cost of the turbo install amortized over the life of the turbo. i don't think nitrous is all that much cheaper. not to mention you never run out of turbo. or blower.

    Got a question for the Engine Masters (or anybody else that might know the answer). Given that nitrous oxide is around 35% (+/-) oxygen vs normal "air" being around 25% oxygen. why are we told we cannot use pure oxygen instead of nitrous in our race cars. Lets say we put pure oxygen in a nitrous bottle, and jet it for 75 hp nitrous and 100 hp gasoline.? Compensate for the 100% oxygen instead of 33% oxygen in nitrous oxide.? It seems to me to be a viable option, but nobody, but nobody does it. Why.?

    • @rotor13
      @rotor13 2 года назад

      Because when you ignite Nitrous, it releases 1 Oxygen atom for every 2 Nitrogen atoms. Which is why you need to make sure you have enough fuel flow to account for the additional oxygen entering the engine.

    • @vipervidsgamingplus5723

      Heating it raises the pressure, so lets say you have half a bottle heated and compare it to a bottle that is full without having been heated and the results would be similar. So to answer your question, yes and no.
