Tom Selleck is an incredibly amazing person off-camera as well. His integrity level is huge. Every role, he's ever done, his true self is quite obvious.
My all time favorite Actor. Tom Selleck chose a family life to raise his daughter Hannah. He made the wisest decision ever! Tom Selleck will always be my Thomas Magnum ❤️🙏💙🎥
I have always LOVED Tom Selleck! Magnum, P.I. was a show I grew up on, plus my dad could've been his twin....they even eat their chocolate cake the same way, in a glass of milk :) Every time I see Tom Selleck, I think of my dad :)
Completely disappointed that he wouldn't continue as Magnum !!! But understand why !!! Tom since Magnum has always been one of my favorite actors !!! Have seen everything he's done. Loved him in the Paradise series.
He is good in all of his roles, but Magnum was the absolute best!! A friend of mine met him on a beach on oahu, even though he said he did not like the attention, he was absolutely the nicest person to my friend!
So good that I’ve watched every episode whenever they’ve been shown on TV, so at least 4 or 5 times for each of the 9 2-Hour TV Films!!! As much as I loved Magnum when I was growing up & still love to watch the reruns now, the Jesse Stone Character for me tops everything else he’s done! And he’s still contracted to do a 10th Feature-Length TV Movie as Jesse Stone, which has been delayed for years due to Covid & his work schedule on Blue Bloods. I hope he manages to get it made soon!!!
Tommy as he is referred to in my household! I have loved him and his acting since 1980! He is only second to my husband LOL. I love how true he is to himself, who he is, what he stands for and how he conducts himself. What a Class Act!
I really enjoyed watching Magnum PI Tom Selleck is an awesome awesome actor and to tell you the truth I became a helicopter pilot because of TC watching the show back in the '80s I have fixed wing and rotor added to my license Tom Selleck will always be Thomas Magnum and I know he's getting much older I think he's now 77 years old and I know he's getting awfully close to retire and leave Hollywood my prayers go with him and his family
I worked for Producer David Levinson and on a few shows with Producer Rick Husky, for the TV show "Charlie's Angels". I typed the scripts, so I knew the characters. Tom came in to read for the part of Jacquelyn Smith's (Kelly Garrett character) boyfriend. That was before Magnum P.I. He read for the part behind closed doors, so I didn't see it. But after he left, I said to the Producer, "You have to hire him". Not that my comment made any difference, but he did get the part.
I'm glad he was able to talk them into Magnum being just a regular guy. I can't remember what episode it is but it was an iron Man type competition they probably called him something different back in the 80s, then he was training for and I remember at the end where he's using a kayak to kayak in he's like 64th place or something like that I love it
Was that the episode he did with Mrs. Krabappel ?? & his shirt said Island Hoppers on the back & T.C. got all this press when Thomas remembered something about where that guy buried something,..money (?) it was in some garden,...So he turned around during the cycling leg of the race & it was caught on the news ?? (I just looked it up: Season 1 episode 18 Beauty Knows No Pain)
Tom Selleck was awesome in Magnum and is perfect in Blue bloods. I will never get why people want to meet their heroes in person, it’s meaningless. Love him to bits in his roles. ❤
He was great in Magnum. Also great in Quigley and very great in Jesse Stone series. But Blue Bloods is the culmination of all his experience and his greatest role yet.
I think it would be a great nod to the fans, if on "Blue Bloods" Commissioner Regan contemplates retiring, one of his staff says, "What are you going to do, move to some tropical island and bum around in a red sports car?"
There is a cop who was working a central park concert and their crew wore Hawaiian shirts to identify each other. One guy had a bushy dark mustache. Guess which team was on his baseball hat. It was hilarious
I lived in Hawaii during the Magnum P.I. run. I worked downtown in Honolulu and often saw the sets as they filmed. He also starred in a movie called, "AN INNOCENT MAN" in which he gets set up by crooked cops after his home is invaded by D. E. A. by mistake. He is injured and knocked out, then the "cops" plant drugs in his home and arrest him & then he gets falsely persecuted and sent to prison. He is married with a good loving wife who tries to help him and he has a good attorney but the crooked cops, crooked justice system, and dangerous felony convicts are all out to get this "Innocent Man". If you are a Tom Selleck/Magnum fan you should watch this movie and see how it ends, it's very good.
When I see Frank Reagan on Blue Bloods, I say in my mind saying it's Thomas Magnum as an older guy, who left the Navy, left Hawaii and took a new identity, moved to NYC and became a cop
I liked when he would read a magazine to the baby in "3 men and a baby." Its not what you read but the tone of your voice. Maybe, just maybe, he reads to all of us.

I was in Old Tucson in 1979 when they were filming "The Sacketts" and we wandered on to an outdoor set after a shoot and there was Gilbert Roland and a few of the cast talking to one of the crew. I said, "hey, there's Gilbert Roland" and he turned and gave us a big smile and waved. The Sacketts had all the big character actors of the day with Selleck being a new face I started following him in all his westerns. I enjoyed Magnum for the first few seasons as a Navy man myself that did some time at Pearl but I don't think Bellisario had good writers back then. Not like today with NCIS.
Fun fact: selleck had numerous big movie offers during the magnum run but kept coming back as long as he did out of loyalty to his fellow cast and the crew. He didn’t want them to lose their meal ticket. A number of other people have verified this and said how much they appreciated him doing that when he had opportunities to go elsewhere. Fun fact 2: these clickbait videos aren’t worth supporting and at money-making vids made by people who did 2 minutes of research using google.
Acourding to some other info, he was'nt allowed to do movies or other stuff in his Magnum periods because the TV company was afraid that during filming movies or if he was sporting something could happend so the schedule of recording the tv-show getting in danger...
Just watched the tennis one. Magnum kicking off saying NO WAY HIGGINS.. then Higgins says 'robin masters will hold you personally responsible ' Then magnums face as he weighs it up!!!
Right now, I'm enjoying the Jessee Stone series on DVD. There are 9 episodes and because old age has made me forgetful I'm finding no difficulty in watching Jessee Stone time after time without tiring at all.
Never watched blue bloods tired of cop shows. But loved magnum, probably the greatest involving American mystery show ever. Being a teen in the 80s helped starting watching halfway through season one.
"Blue Bloods" & "Magnum" are not really in the same league. "Magnum" was intended as light comedic fare "Blue Bloods" is more of a serial program in which the Reagan Family of crime fighters, as cops or District Attorney, focuses on the transactional impact on the family of being a crime fighter. Requires whole other level of writing for complex character development & exposition.
@@Stevefor1776 It is. And I'm watching the original Magnum with Selleck, and I have to say, the recent Magnum is way better, not as simplistic, more sophisticated, even for as good as the Selleck Magnum was.
@@StevenTorrey Interesting to hear and contrary to all the folks who claim that the original series are better than the new versions - in many cases that is true, but I've got to say that I never had much interest in the original Magnum series and Selleck never hit my radar until his later work. I'll admit that as a young, single man with two jobs, taking college classes and chasing women I didn't spend much time watching TV period(!) I thought Magnum a bit too frivolous to waste time on.
Always loved his role as Magnum PI. Blue Bloods is a little too close to the gritty reality of today for me although my lovely wife does love Blue Bloods and faithfully watches him on that show.
I am watching the series for the first time in 2023 and it is one of the best shows. I love that it understands spectacle. It shows things that are pleasing and locations and it gives the actors good lines. I also love the lighting, darker look. It’s not bright and aching colors
I was too young when this series aired originally in the early 80's, I was around 14 years old living in Venezuela where the it was total success down there, so I got to really enjoy the episodes less than 10 years ago and man thats a heck of a show, I also remember Tom in that not too famous 1985 (I guess) movie Runaway where he performed as a Policeman against and evil character personified by no other that Gene Simmons from the band Kiss, I really enjoy that movie also because the cast included a pretty Kristie Alley (RIP) which I had a kind of a crush on.
Nothing Tom ever does will match Magnum PI still one of the best shows in history I do like blue bloods it’s a really good sho I watch it often but magnum is the mother of all tv shows
I remember seeing Tom Selleck in the 1972 film "The Daughters Of Satan" when he was real young, late 20s, long before Magnum P.I. He is 1 of my favorite actors. I hope he don't retire soon .......
😡 you are so wrong about him and his fans. My friends & I where at Diamond Head Road (Hawai'i) watching the Trans. Pack sailboats. Tom was filming. He walked over to us, a bit of small talk then showed the race brochure, handed him our binoculars (far lookers), explained who, what, etc. Then some guy said "Mr.Selleck, we are ready." He asked us if we wanted HIS autograph. We said 'NO' & that we knew who he was. Tom, turned and walked away. Then, he turned toward us and said "GUYS," and gave us his trademark smile. We ALL gave him the 🤙shaka sign in return. He was VERY PERSONAL‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️
As the Seasons of Magnum progressed .. we could see the Evolution of Magnum .. and what really a Great Detective he was and his AH Ha Moments via Process of Elimination -Analytical Hypothesizes .. he was not just some Beach Boy Freeloader of Robin Masters .. He was a Seasoned Private Investigator !
I Highly understand it that would have driven me crazy and I am Thankful he stayed sane so he could leave it and enjoy his Freedom! He got to do the movies he wanted to do and he is still having his private life and Congratulations 🎉 for doing it and I get a feeling you asked for help and advice and they gave you Wise Advice!🙏😉😃🇺🇸🤩
I can't imagine being paid obscene amounts of money to star in fantasy roleplay then becoming so famous that I'm mobbed by the masses as soon as I open my front door. I've never been rich or famous, but I don't think it would be worth it. I guess being free to come and go without lifting an eyebrow means more to me than fame and fortune.
I've only just seen on Foxtel, the shorts for the New Magnum PI, I haven't see Blue Bloods but Tom Sellect will always be the original and the Best Magnum PI, like David Hasselhoff will always be the original and Best Michael Knight in Knight Rider.
I preferred Mr. Selleck as Magnum P.I. I tried watching his new role as a police chief and turned it off half way through the episode -- not because of Selleck; he is a good actor whatever role he plays. I just wasn't interested in the story. When they brought Magnum P.I. back they should have got him. He IS Thomas Magnum. Can't be replaced. I had no trouble buying him as Matt Quigley in "Quigley Down Under" though. Great Movie! He could be a Western Star if the genre was still popular.
When his program was on I wouldn't miss it for any other shows . For the longest time I couldn't understand why it wasn't on anymore until the blue blood program and oh yeah I watch it just about every Friday night . I love it when the family all come together at the dinner table saying their prayer .
I will never forget working as a Hostess at Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse In Hawai’i on Restaurant Row and Tom came in to eat. I was like 18 and from North Shore so I didnt really see “real celebrities” except pro surfers like Sunny Garcia and Kelly Slater so I see Tom and I get excited 😆 It was my last day at work after being sabotaged by manager who would purposely tell me the wrong table numbers to get me horribly in trouble or write it so bad that its barely legible. So here I couldn’t help myself quietly pointed out his table as we passed to get to their table. Lo and behold, the mean manager came up to me, I tried so hard not to laugh, to ask me if I was giving “tours” to his tables 🤦♀️ 😂😂😂
I had heard when he was in Nova Scotia filming, he told staff no one that who didn't have a reason to come up and talk to him was not to approach him. But that seems to go against everything else I've ever read and heard about him. He seems like a good guy.
Who didn't love watching Magnum PI....I liked Selleck best as Jesse Stone. A more complicated character...and the pacing of the show is much more relaxed.
I knew a guy who was the photographer for the show. He always said that Selleck was a great person and just a guy. He also said that everyone on the cast and set were friends. There no ego evident with anyone.
I had the privilege of meeting Tom Selleck on Oahu in 1985, very down to earth person. Very well liked by the locals.
As did I in 88.. while filming the last season of Magnum...Got to meet TC, and Rick...only got to see Higgy Baby from a distance...but I'll never forget that day at Waimenalo

Thanks for your unconditional love and support, it's nice talking to you over here.
Where are you from @Julian?
Above all...he's brutally honest... unheard of these days! Hey, Biden! You could learn something here!!!?
I am surprised there is no official Magnum channel on RUclips
Magnum kicking off saying NO WAY HIGGINS..
then Higgins says 'robin masters will hold you personally responsible '
Then magnums face as he weighs it up!!!

Requires whole other level of writing for complex character development & exposition.
your point?
@@troywillingham1305 If you don't see the point, then I can't explain it to you.
And Frank Reagan is the perfect character for the mature Tom Selleck
He could actually play Higgins now…
Always loved his role as Magnum PI. Blue Bloods is a little too close to the gritty reality of today for me although my lovely wife does love Blue Bloods and faithfully watches him on that show.
higgy baby, lol. "ohh myy godd". the character were great.
Then some guy said "Mr.Selleck, we are ready."
He asked us if we wanted HIS autograph.
He makes really good decisions on the roles he takes. Always high-quality characters that go well with his looks and mannerisms.
👍
I loved it.

I'm pleased to hear from you dear
How long have you been my fan @vivian?
I Highly understand it that would have driven me crazy and I am Thankful he stayed sane so he could leave it and enjoy his Freedom! He got to do the movies he wanted to do and he is still having his private life and Congratulations 🎉 for doing it and I get a feeling you asked for help and advice and they gave you Wise Advice!🙏😉😃🇺🇸🤩
To me, Tom Sellek will always be the only Magnum PI! ❤️❤️

This is still the best show that ever came out my all time favorite
Magnum was broke, he didn't own the Ferrari or the house. Wtf? Research much?

He could be a Western Star if the genre was still popular.
i love tom selleck,,,,i think hes a very good actor💝

I prefer Tom Sellexck as Tom Selleck. An intelligent and humoures man.
I love him in both shows

When his program was on I wouldn't miss it for any other shows . For the longest time I couldn't understand why it wasn't on anymore until the blue blood program and oh yeah I watch it just about every Friday night . I love it when the family all come together at the dinner table saying their prayer .
The writers of that show really have family down. Those dinner table conversations are always delightful.
Sad to know that Robin’s Nest was demolished a while back😢😢
Should have been saved by the film companies but nostalgia is only worth saving if it’s worth a shit load of money.

I appreciate all you have done Mr. S but I still miss you as Magnum... nobody does it better❤

Love Tom Selleck, love the older version of Magnum PI.Not sure about the newer version.
And not to get off topic too much; he did a heck of a job as Jessie Stone. That was a wonderful series as well.
He is the only Magnum
I will always remember him as Richard from FRIENDS.
Amen. They will be missed.
I loved Magnum PI, but I think his best work by far was Jesse Stone.
Theoretically, Magnum Did Not own the Italian Ferrari as it belonged to Robin Masters.
